Last Kiss
Running to Happiness with SecretsMyungsoo stared blankly at the forms regarding Sungyeol’s contact information.
“Give me that.” Woohyun grabbed the clipboard out of Myungsoo’s hands and started filling in the blank slots.
Myungsoo, feeling out of place, got up from the chair and headed towards Sungyeol’s room.
“Kim Myungsoo.” Woohyun Informally called his name out.
“What did you just call me?” Myungsoo was upset.
“Don’t you dare, go into that room.” Woohyun warned him.
Myungsoo scoffed. “It’s none of your business.”
“It is.” Woohyun corrected the older. “Sungyeol’s been with me for the past seven years. Your time with him is nothing compared to what we’ve been through.”
Myungsoo locked eye contact with Woohyun. “Back off.”
“You should. Why don’t you just run along now and go see your girlfriend. I mean who doesn’t know you’re in a relationship now?” Woohyun nudged the boy aside and opened the door to Sungyeol’s room.
By evening, Sungyeol was still unconscious. Woohyun sat down on a chair, to the left of Sungyeol. He lightly placed the boy’s hand onto the palm. He rolls up the left sleeve and noticed the cuts on his wrist. Woohyun’s heart dropped.
“Sungyeol-ah, why did you cut yourself? Doesn’t it hurt?” Woohyun kissed the scars and Myungsoo suddenly walked in, holding a chair.
“Get out.” Woohyun told him.
“I’m not leaving until he wakes up.” Myungsoo placed his chair on the right of Sungyeol, facing Woohyun across from him.
The heavy atmosphere was broken when a doctor came in with Sungyeol’s chart.
“Are any of you Lee Sungyeol’s family members?” The doctor asked.
Both of the boys shook their heads.
“Is it anything serious?” Woohyun asked.
“Well on records here, it seems like he has donated blood just yesterday. He was qualified for donating, but he was just at the border line. He has very low blood pressure and donating blood just puts him at a dangerous situation. We’ll just have to wait until he wakes up.” The doctor leaves the room, leaving the war zone like atmosphere.
The whole room fell silent. Myungsoo went towards Sungyeol’s left arm and looked at the wrist. There were three long and deep horizontal cuts. He didn’t notice them until now. His watch was always covering it.
“What the is this.” Myungsoo reacts to Sungyeol’s wrist.
“It was recent.” Woohyun replied.
“What do you mean by recent?”
“About the last 2 months.” Woohyun answered.
“Why didn’t you stop him then?” Myungsoo asked in anger.
“Who do you think caused it?” Woohyun glared back.
Woohyun and Myungsoo ended up falling asleep on each side of Sungyeol, both holding onto one the boy’s hand.

Sungyeol slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was pure white. It was actually the ceiling, but the boy had no clue.
“Am I finally dead?” He mumbled from his dry mouth.
He left some weight on his left arm and tried shaking it off. With squinted eyes, he turned his head and saw Woohyun holding onto his hand.
“Woohyun….” Sungyeol said his name in a soft tone, moments before Woohyun fully woke up. “You’re really here, protecting me.”
“Sungyeol? You’re awake!” Woohyun exclaimed.
“Of course.” The boy smiled back.
After Sungyeol was examined by the doctor he was ready to be discharged.
“Will you tell me why you have those cuts on your wrist?” Woohyun brought up after the doctors and nurses left.
“I wasn’t acting like myself.” Sungyeol managed to say.
“It’s because of him isn’t it?” Woohyun referred to Myungsoo.
“It was because of him. Was.” Sungyeol repeated the word again.
“What?” Woohyun said in confusion.
“I’ve decided to move on. The moment I woke up, I understood that you’re truly the one that’s going to be there for me.” Sungyeol took a deep breath. “Woohyun, I think you’re the one I need.”
Woohyun didn’t say a single word. He only stared at Sungyeol with wide eyes.
“Or is it too late…..” Sungyeol began.
“Sungyeol. Shut up.” Woohyun demanded.
“W-why?” Sungyeol stuttered a bit from his response.
“So I can god damn kiss you properly for once.”
With that said, Woohyun pulled the other up from t
