His Tears
Voice of the Heart [AFF Summer Fic Writing Contest Entry]Hye Rin was busily checking the fresh produce section when a cart bumped into hers. She jerked in surprise and saw Youngmin with a playful smile etched on his face.
"No," she refused, placing her hands on her waist. "Focus on your list," she strictly said earning a cute pout from Youngmin who obviously wanted to play.
She shook her head, sighing. "Later, after we are done," she compromised, not completely immune to his charm.
Youngmin pumped an air fist in excitement and turned his cart around with a smug in his face, leaving a chuckling Hye Rin behind.
Kwangmin regretted finding her that moment. His heart squeezed to see them so close. Youngmin was doing it for him but he would have preferred that it was him who was with her. Completely oblivious of his presence, he followed her quietly from behind as if he was doing the grocery shopping with her. He contented himself with just looking at her back just like every day in class. Her hair swayed freely at her every movement and she never bothered tucking the strands behind her ear. He liked just how carefree she was. Other girls would spend hours putting on make-up and dressing up to look pretty but Hye Rin would simply look beautiful in anything she wears.
Hye Rin was picking out tomatoes when she realized that their teacher forgot to include spring onions in the list. She turned around and caught him staring back at her. Her heart thumped as their eyes met. Kwangmin.
The guy stood in place, frozen. He was so afraid that she would find out. But there was a part of him that wants her to know.
"Is there something in the list you can't find?" she calmly asked, taking a step closer to him.
His eyes widened in disbelief. He could not be hearing her words right. Trying to hide his shock, he strained the words out, "I misplaced the list."
Hye Rin was having a hard time with the situation. She knew it was the real Kwangmin in front of her. But remembering the promise she made to Youngmin, Hye Rin kept a calm facade and decided it was best to just keep pretending.
