Chapter 7
Not Exactly Human
Sunggyu had five days left with Dongwoo before he had to be sent to the military.
"Sunggyu-hyung, do you like me?" asked Dongwoo while he was laying in the middle of an open field, breatheless from all the excercise he did, while Sunggyu sat and watched him ("i'm getting old and my back isn't feeling to good, aish.")
Sunggyu gulped, and shrugged his shoulders. "Like as in?"
"Well, do you like me the way I like you?" asked Dongwoo, rolling over on his stomach to stare up at Sunggyu.
"How do you like me?"
Dongwoo took a moment to think for a bit, "Well you're all I think about, hyung. I always want to be with you. I like hearing your voice every single day, I like being able to hear your heart beat. It let's me know you're alive. I like the way your eyes disappear whenever you smile. Even though I'll never be a normal human being and I'll never be able to feel how love is actually, I'm pretty convinced that you haywired my computer chip so I would fall in love with you. Well, it worked hyung."
"I'm sorry I don't have a beating heart for you, and that I'm always so cold whenever I touch your skin. I'm sorry I'm just a machine that was meant to kill. I'm sorry I fell in love with you. I'm sorry I can't give you anything a normal human being can. Hyung, I'm sorry."
Dongwoo stayed quiet after that, and Sunggyu just sat there, staring at Dongwoo for a long time, which made Dongwoo fidget uncomfortably under his gaze.
So Sunggyu did something he's wanted to do ever since the first time he saw Dongwoo laid out on the laboratory table with those big lips; he kissed him. It was a quick kiss, but he could feel the warmth from his lips press softly against the others cold lips. And he knew right then and there that, yes, he was in love with Jang Dongwoo, a machine.
