SEVENTEEN – Bittersweet past (SooRi’s story)

[NORMAL P.O.V]

At night, the beautiful manager tiredly opened her condo’s door and dragged herself to her living room. Yuri sadly placed her car keys a top the table and throws herself on the couch. She stared her large window which displayed a beautiful landscape of Seoul city at night. It was beautiful, yet it was a bitterly view since she had no one to share this. At this moment, she punished herself mentally for being such irresponsible manager and left Tiffany on the WGM’s set. She knows that even  the singer was known to be a spoiled girl, she was comprehensive; plus, she looked worried and would understand that Yuri needed a moment for herself, a moment to recollect her thoughts.

Sighing heavily, the tanned manager stole a glance of the table beside her and smiled sadly when she saw a portrait. It was her favorite picture; the photo shows a very happy Sooyoung as he hugged Yuri tightly and placed a sweet kiss in her right cheek. Her shocked face was really funny on the pic because she wasn’t expecting his sudden kiss; still it was such a precious moment. She was happy and didn’t even know it. Unconsciously, a tear rolled by her eyes as she reached the picture and caringly hugged close to her heart.

Slowly, her mind started to bring bittersweet memories as she stared the photo…

{SooRi - FLASHBACK}

It was her 1^st year on the management college and she couldn’t be more excited that she already was. Yuri’s dream was to be an esteemed manager of the most famous k-pop of South Korea. Being daughter of one of the SM’s directors helped to reach her dream. Of course, the girl had a bad time to make friends on college since everyone thought that she was daddy-little-girl and her life wasn’t harder as theirs. But they were wrong; maybe because she was the director’s daughter, she had to work extra harder to prove her worth. So, she passed her free time on SM’s building to gain experience and work at the university’s projects. It was a big help, yet… she always had to work alone…

While walking distractingly by the corridor, Yuri was really engrossed with her management book. She even managed to ignore the whistles or dreaming commentaries coming from the male’s crew. The tanned was used to get this kind of attention due her beauty, yet she was tired because all the guys were the same and in her college wasn’t different. The cute or handsome guys were jerks in the end. When would she find someone special? She was daydreaming in her mind until…

*CRASH* “Ouch!”

She groaned while peeling one eye open, that moment, her heart double the pace at the sight of tender and concerned chocolate eyes. In only one second she was reading the book and then, fell flatly on the floor or maybe someone kinda… trampled on her and papers or files were scattered all over the place. Back to the guy in front of her, he bowed his head countless times while loudly apologizing. He helped her to get her carefully as he repeated worriedly:

“Please, please, please! I am so sorry! I – I should have see you coming, but I had to deliver this to director, but copier was broken and I had to run to another office or else, the director can fire me and then I scrambled on you. Oh God, are you hurt?!“

“Easy! Wait, breathe a little, will you?” Yuri silenced the tall boy’s nervous nagging; the latter breathed heavily to calm himself and it seems it worked. Once he was stable, the tanned girl stared at him softly and slowly a smile crept in her face:

“See? I am good, don’t worry, okay?”

The tanned boy surprised her as he held her shoulders and quickly looked to her whole body just to make sure. Afterwards, he knocked his head while mumbling hopelessly:

“Dumb, dumb, dumb! Miss, I am really sorry. Please, don’t be kind to this clumsily and dumb guy here. Aish… I am so reckless…Argg”

However, his self-punishment halted when Yuri couldn’t help to giggle at his silly self. That moment, he was the one awestruck since now; he finally took a good look on the beautiful brunette in front of him. His mouth was slight open; his eyes were glued in her face, his heart pounded rapidly under his chest as he stared her in some kind of trance. The latter’s giggles got worse due the awestruck look on his face. Once her laughter ceased, Yuri cleared and extended her hand gently:

“I am Kwon Yuri. Nice to meet you…?”

That time, the guy widened his eyes and shook his head in realization. His blood froze when he realized that he just scrambled on his boss’s daughter! And boy… she was beautiful… and so kind. When he saw the warm hand silently gesturing him to accept it, he couldn’t help to hold it and shake gingerly while they exchanged a tender stare. Slowly, a coy smile crept in his lips as he started slowly:

“And I am Choi---“ “SOOYOUNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! WHERE IS THAT BOY?!”

The pair jolted in shock due the storming voice. Quickly, Sooyoung crouched to get all the scattered papers and files in a rush while complaining to himself frenetically:

“Oh man, boss will kill me! I forgot him completely!”

Seeing the tanned boy’s struggle to get all the papers, Yuri couldn’t help to crouch and help him. Yet, they briefly stopped when her hand accidently touched his when they got the same file. Instantaneously, they looked to each other again and their eyes shone with a different glow. If it was possible, both of them wanted to stop the time. Yet, their longing stare was interrupted when the voice barked loudly again:

“SOOYOUNGGGGGGGGGGG! I NEED THOSE FILES NOW! WHERE ARE YOU?!”

The boy jumped in shock and quickly stood up while helping Yuri as well. Sooyoung nibbled his lip and added sincerely with an embarrassed smile:

“That’s my name. It was a pleasure to meet you, Yuri-shi. I hope we can meet each other again. Oh God, I have to go, errr see ya later!”

Yuri could only wave slowly as Sooyoung rushed to her father’s office, struggling to hold all those files. She shook her head and smiled at his clumsy and adorable form. That moment she knew that Sooyoung entered in her heart…

Weeks later…

After their ‘crashing encounter’, Yuri discovered that Sooyoung attended at the same college of hers and they were studding the same course. However, she was pleasantly surprised to see that the tanned boy was a formidable student. Actually, she admired him deeply because he was a scholar and worked in two different jobs, one in her father’s agency and had another part-job to help his mom and sister. Yet, she saw all his hard work and the boy was visibly exhausted, yet he never complained. They turned to be classmates and good friends in such short period of time, they simply clicked.

Still, Yuri was worried with him and really wanted to make something to help him, but what could she do? Sooyoung was proud, not proud into a hostile way, but proud because he didn’t want to be a burden for anyone. However, Yuri found herself staring and admiringly more than she should be. Bit a bit, she started to feel something different when he was around her…

His loud voice and laughers that warmed her heart; his silly jokes that always made her smile whenever she was sad or worried; his comprehensive smile when she needed any help; his tender eyes that always understood her and showed such sincerity; and lastly his warm hugs that never failed to comfort her and made her heart pound madly. What was this feeling? Yuri knew that her feelings were getting deeper for Sooyoung; and this was making her crazy. But what could she do? She didn’t even know what she felt…

Until one day she reached the class and saw a girl, precisely her rival a.k.a Gyuri. The girl was spoiled and rich daddy’s girl. The latter was Yuri’s opposite; she always humiliated everyone around her and forced them to make her whishes. Of course almost every obeyed her due her status and Yuri hated this kind of action. Now, this same evil girl was all over Sooyoung, ready to put her claws on him. Being so dense, the tanned boy didn’t even notice her subtle actions until not holding herself, Yuri marched to the spoiled rich girl and glared at her while dragging a confused Sooyoung away. This was enough to make the girl run for her life…

That moment Yuri knew that she was… no… she already fell for Choi Sooyoung

Sometime later, Yuri dwelled into an inner fight. Should or should not confess to Sooyoung? Her feelings were getting bigger and she was about to explode. Yet, she was afraid of a possible rejection. There was moments that she was totally aware that he only considered her as a good friend, but then… another moments, she was confused because his actions held some kind of … love? Now, she was debating to confess or not while walking on the corridor when she suddenly stumbled on someone… When she was about to apologize quickly, the stranger held her arms gently and added with some playfulness in his tone, chuckling:

“This is becoming a habit…” “Soo-Sooyoung!”

Yuri almost melted when she felt his strong, yet protectively arms holding her. Once she looked up, he was smiling softly as he whispered jokingly:

“You better come with a GPS so I can protect myself… but I admit I am getting comfortable with this position…”

When she looked to downwards, she realized that her arms were wrapped around his waist. After realize their position, she widened her eyes in shock as her face was on fire and flushed. Trying to hide her blush, she faked an angry tone as she pushed him:

“Ya! Don’t be full of yourself! Isn’t my fault that you pop of nowhere!”

“Awww Yuri-ah… are you angry with me? P-please, don’t be mad, pleeeeease?”

Damn it, she thinks. Yuri had to turn around and cross her arms to pretend to be mad, but she failed miserably at the curious display of aegyo. The tanned boy peeked beside her and saw a growing smile crept in her cheeks. This was enough to make him smirk in victory as he gingerly turn around and added playfully while poking her cheek:

“Ya, you know you can’t be mad at me! I am irresistible!”

“Arghh, so cocky!” Yuri tried to slap him, but he quickly dodged and kept laughing at her ‘angry mode’. However, her blush got worse when he added while running away:

“Yuri-ah, you look really cute when you are angry. Did you know that?” “Ya, you!”

Her heart double the pace at his words and her whole body got warm, plus, her face was completely red now. She wouldn’t let him get away this time. She speeds up and jumped on his back while ‘strangling’ him from behind. The boy laughed loudly and quickly held her legs for support, afraid that she could fall. They end up on a piggy ride position while playing and messing with each other. Anyone who passed by them, could tell that they were a couple… a very loving one.

Once the laughers ceased, they were breathing heavily as Sooyoung carefully helped Yuri to get down of him. Sweats were forming in their faces as they looked to each other with smiles in their lips. When their breathing got normal, Sooyoung looked down; fidget his fingers bashfully as he gulped loudly. Taking a deep breath, he took a step closer to Yuri and asked truthfully:

“Yuri-ah… w-would you l-like to hmm… have a date with me?”

“What?” Yuri asked in surprise, she was sure that she wasn’t hearing right? Is he… asking her out? No, her ears must be deceiving her… Then, he took her surprise as a bad sign and quickly waving his hands on the air:

“B-but – but it’s not a date! I mean, i-it is! Well, o-only if you want, b-but if you d-don’t, I will under---“

“How about I ask you on a date? I – I would like to take a walk with you on the park and then, to Han River. I-if you don’t mind, of course!” The tanned girl sincerely replied with a hint of shyness in her tone, her action shocked Sooyoung as he creased his eyebrows and pressed on to make sure that he was listening correctly:

“A-Are you sure?!” 

To prove her honesty, she took another step, making they stay really close to each other. Then, she grabbed his hand gingerly and with a broad smile, she whispered:

“Sure… I would love to have a date with you, Soo.”

Unable to hide his happiness, a bright smile the boy pulled her for a tight hug and whispered in delight:

“This will be our best date! Trust me!”

Sooyoung wasn’t kidding that they would have the best date ever. Even when Yuri was the one who asked him out, the tanned guy planned everything to work perfectly. Their date was in Sunday afternoon until the nightfall. They went to a nice restaurant and then, take a walk on the park while eating a delicious ice cream, and then they went to the Han River. Yuri laughed heartily when she saw a stain of ice cream on Sooyoung’s cheek. Delicately, she used a napkin to brush the stain away; however, her heart swayed when the tanned boy was with his eyes closed as if he was enjoying her caresses. To his unhappiness, she already was done.

Nonetheless, he smiled sheepishly in appreciation and motioned her to seat with him on the stool. After she took a seat, he followed her and sat beside her. The pair was in silent for a while, but inside their heads were a loud swirl. Both of them needed to confess, but they lacked of courage. Still, they couldn’t waste the opportunity. However, after take a deep breath, both of them started suddenly:

“Yuri-ah!” “Soo!”

They looked to each other in surprise and end up laughing since they spoke at the same time. With a caring smile in their cheeks and coy stares, they looked away; then Sooyoung started gently:

“You can go first, Yul.” “No, that’s all right. Y-you can go first, really.”

“Really?” Sooyoung asked in concern and Yuri nodded in assurance. The tanned boy took a deep breath and turned his body completely to her side. His heart was hammering hard, his lips were dry and his hands were sweating. Gosh, why is this so hard? He gulped loudly, took a good look into her eyes and started … slowly:

“Yuri-ah… you know… we are friends for awhile… and there is something that I really wanted to tell you…”

Yuri couldn’t deny that her heart ached at the word ‘friends’, but she knows that even in love with him, she couldn’t be mad at him, he was really precious to her. Forcing a nonchalant expression, she nodded to let him continue. He took a deep breath, saying:   

“So… that means we must be honest with each other… w-what I am trying to say is that… I think… no… I fell---“

She knew this speech very well and it hurts like hell. Sooyoung fell for a girl in their college and probably wants her advices. That moment, she couldn’t hide her hurtful expression and no… she won’t anyone take her love away… At least, she wont be a coward now, and if he rejects her, she will understand… well, try to understand… Love isn’t selfish in the end. Yuri won’t let the chance slip away again. So taking a deep breath, she reached his hands with her tremble ones as she whispered weakly:

“S-Sooyoung-ah… Before you continue… I – I have to tell you something…”

The boy noticed her sudden change of expression and being worried; he squeezed her hands gingerly as a signal that he was listening. Yuri closed her eyes for a brief moment and finally stared deeply into his eyes. Her heart doubled the pace and her breathing was uneven; suddenly, her hands unconsciously cupped his face as she confessed with all sincerity and nervousness:

“Sooyoung-ah… saranghe…”

The tanned girl didn’t even let him answer as she leaned and kissed his lips lovingly, pouring her longing, fear and all her love. The kiss was tender, yet one-sided since the boy was pretty shocked. Afraid that he could hate her for her boldness, Yuri quickly pulled herself and slowly a tear rolled by her cheek as she wailed painfully:

“I – I am so-so sorry, Soo… I know I am being a coward and selfish now! B-but I c-couldn’t hide my feelings anymore… e-even you are in love w-with someone else… I – I bet she is a l-lucky girl… T-thanks for the date… I – I really enjoy it… B-Bye…”

Not wanting let things got worse and more shameful, Yuri quickly stood up to flee. Sooyoung’s rejection would certainly torn her heart, but she has to accept it. She was his friend after all and loved him. Her plan of escaping would work with no doubt, until a hand held her wrist stopping her attempt. Instantaneously, her eyes closed in defeat, now what she most feared… came to get her. The tanned girl refused to turn away, so a pair of caring hands turned her around carefully.

After a moment of silence, she questioned to herself about was happening. She certainly expected for a speech or a disapproving expression. However, her curiosity was killing her and she couldn’t help, but peel her eyes open slowly. Yet, she was surprised to see a broad smile and unknown stare in Sooyoung’s face. The latter held her face lovingly and added with a toothy smile:

“You silly… how can’t you realize… that you are the one I fell in love with?”

“W-What?!”

She heard right? Is she was that delusional?! No, his warm stare and tender smile guaranteed that this was reality. Sooyoung was indeed in love with her; in the end, she was too dense to notice. Her heart thumped erratically when his hands wrapped in her slim waist, pulling her to his body. He touched his forehead on hers and confessed breathlessly:

“I loved you since the moment I first scrambled on you… my heart was yours since that time and always will be, my silly Yul…”

Delighted with such adorable and revealing truth, Yuri felt on the cloud nine, her face was probably all red right now. The moment became perfect when he closed the gap between them and kissed her with the most care. They stood there, hugging and kissing each other passionately like if they were the only one in the world. After they broke the kiss, they kept their foreheads touching each other while smiling lovingly to each other and exchanging caring words. They will carry this moment forever…

Weeks later…

Yuri was walking down the corridor at night. Due the hour, everyone must be in their homes, yet there was she waiting worriedly for her boyfriend. Sooyoung was acting so strange these days, he looked so tense and unusual. She wonders what happened to him… Whenever the tanned girl tried to ask him to share his worries, he declined the offer with a comforting smile, guarantying her that everything was fine.

He was hiding something for sure and didn’t want to make her worried. Of course Yuri didn’t buy it, she decided to not push him, and still, she will try finding her answer for her own. However, when she passed by a wooden door, she halted when she heard a familiar voice at the other side of the door:

“What?! Are you crazy?! I am not going to do that!”

The girl frowned in concern when she heard Sooyoung’s angry voice; however, her concern aggravated when another storming voice popped out of sudden:

“This is your last chance! If you disobey me, I will… mhhpfamfhahfm…”

The sound was awful and muffled, yet she could tell that the other voice belongs to her father. Yuri narrower her eyes and placed her ear on the door, trying to listen their discussing more carefully. She knows that this was wrong, but something deep inside her tells her this conversation isn’t good. All of sudden, she heard a mad Sooyoung snapping bitterly:

“You should be… -hame of …self… I – I l…ve her… I don’t want y…r mo…ey. Why c-ca…t y..u acep… us?!”

“Foolishness! Y..ou don’t su..t for my daug..er. L..st chance… br…k up with h…r.”

“I won’t g…ve up… on h…r. T-that’s my fi..al w…rd! Excuse me… sir…”

 When Yuri heard loud steps coming from the other side of the door, she withdrew quickly with hanged open in confusion. As soon the door was opened, she finally saw her boyfriend with an angry frown and defeated semblance. However, his expression changed suddenly to a lovingly one when he saw his Yuri, it was a relief to see her after such agonizing discussing. Without say a word, he closed the door with a loud slam and rushed to her encounter while pulling her for an engulfing hug.

Without understand a thing, even confused, the tanned girl just let him hug her as she could only do the same. Yet, she felt something sad within his embrace… it was like a goodbye hug and this is ridiculous, of course Sooyoung wasn’t going anywhere, right? The taller boy burrows his face on the crown of her head, sniffing deeply to inhale her flowery scent and finally kissed her head very gently. The embrace was bittersweet and she couldn’t bear with his silence and the previous discussion between him and her father. After a while, she pulled slightly from his arms and asked gingerly while caressing his cheek with the back of her hand:

“Soo… what its happening? I never saw you and appa talking like this… Please… tell me, what’s wrong?!”

His expression fell again as the corner of his lips moved to downwards and his eyes clearly exposed his anguish. How could he lie to the girl he loved? Would she believe in him and the fact that her father disapproves their relationship? Nonetheless, the boy cupped her face tenderly and sighed while dipping his head down. Getting more worried, she caressed his face and kissed his cheek caringly while whispering:

“Soo… you know you can tell me anything… please… I am really worried…”

After a deadly silence, the boy breathed heavily while grabbing her hands and carefully removed from his face. He looked down to her with eyes filled with sadness; his hands traced her face endearingly as he added softly, with a hint of concern in his tone:

“Yuri-ah… can you promise one thing?”

Seeing him in such delicate state, the girl quickly nodded and held his hands a top on hers. They stared each other for awhile, eyes showing all their love and hearts pounding like a thunderstorm. He placed his forehead on hers and added sincerely:

“No matter what happens… if someone try to separate us… please… trust in me…”

“But, Soo… what are you saying? Whats going on--?”

“Promise! … Please? You know I love you so much to make anything to harm or deceive you.” His tearing eyes silently begged to say yes. Touched with such honest semblance, Yuri smiled warmly and lovingly caressed his brown hair, whispering softly:

“You silly… you know I trust you fully… I also love you so much to see you suffering…”

Unconsciously, a tear rolled by her eyes as she pulled him down for a tender hug and whispered on his ear:

“I won’t force you to tell me what’s going on between you and appa, but… promise that you will tell me everything one day… because… It kills me to see you hurt…”

Once they pulled from the hug, she saw how heartbroken he was and couldn’t help to pull him for a lovingly kiss. She tried to put all her most sincere love and emotions within the kiss, which worked since he responded at the same intensity. They stood like this for a while, holding each other dearly like if they would disappear in any moment. However, Yuri couldn’t stop thinking in some quotes exchanged by her dad and Sooyoung?

What was really happening? Why were they discussing with such anger? What they were hiding from her?

Days later…

Sooyoung turned the knob of Yuri’s room at the SM’s building slowly. A smile crept in his lips as he called her sweetly:

“Hey, Yuri-ah. I was wondering if you wanna free later cause I ---?!”

His words died on his lips when a heartbroken and crying Yuri holding a paper with her head down. Completely worried, he asked loudly in concern:

“Yul?! Whats wrong, honey?!”

However, she did not answer his question, but stood up from the couch and walked to him slowly. He stared at her with an ache in his heart, nonetheless, when he was about to ask again, he felt his world shatter into millions of pieces when he received a hard slap on his cheek, followed by an angry scream and sob:

“H-HOW COULD YOU?!”

The tall boy frowned and couldn’t understand a thing. His heart was broken, Yuri really slapped him, but what did he do? She looked so furious; even deep crushed by her action; he tried to hold her as he asked softly:

“Yuri-ah? What happened? Please… talk to me… Yul?”

“DON’T TOUCH ME! HOW CAN YOU BE SO CYNIC?! YOUR LIES WON’T WORK WITH ME ANYMORE!” Yuri’s tears rolled by her face as her voice cracked with so much pain. She even shook due the immense anger and deception. The confused boy was despaired, he wanted to comfort her, but he couldn’t understand what was really going on. So, when he was about to ask her, a familiar silhouette came from behind him and replied:

“She knows, Sooyoung…”

“What?! What the hell are you talking about?!”

The middle age man showed no emotions to Sooyoung’s outburst, yet he walked to his heartbroken daughter to hug her in comfort. Faking a disappointed tone, Mr. Kwon added bitterly:

“I should know that you weren’t trustful… How could you betray us when we gave you a helping hand? Is that how you repay us? Stabbing our backs?”

“Wha---! What did you tell her?!”

The tall boy finally understood the situation and got really angry. Yuri’s father set him up. The middle aged man looked at him indifferently and replied while holding his shaking daughter:

“Me? You did this by yourself! How can you give our secret tactics for our contestant?! Are you happy now?! JYP will destroy our business because of you! How much they paid for spy us?! Tell us!”

Sooyoung was with his mouth hanged open, how could be this man so cruel and cynic? However, the boy was boiling in anger as his hands curled in tight fists, he was about to explode. When he was about to scream to Mr. Kwon’s face all his lies, two bulky bodyguards held him tightly on his spot as one of them spoke calmly:

“Boss, I found this on his backpack. Take a look.”

“THIS IS NOT MINE! YOU SET ME UP, YOU JERK!”

The tanned boy widened his eyes in shock, the paper that the bodyguard handed to Yuri’s father never existed, that jerk planted there! Mr. Kwon got the paper and stared carefully; all of sudden, he grinned bitterly while remarking with venom in his voice:

“A JYP’s job proposal and big fat check for your work. Splendid… I hope you are happy now… YOU RUIN US! And … I thought you could take care of my daughter… you just used her to get all the information’s… ISN’T?!”  

“DAMN YOU! STOP LYING!”

That was enough! Sooyoung couldn’t handle anymore. He was so angry that he was about to make some madness. Gritting his teeth anger, he couldn’t believe how dirty this man could be to take his daughter away from him. The anger consumed him as he used all his strength to get away from the bodyguard’s grip. He wanted to scream at his jerk face and stop with all his lies, much more when Mr. Kwon secretly gave him a sly smile. When the boy was just a feet of him, he widened his eyes in shock when Yuri placed herself in front of her father. Sooyoung backed off instantaneously and spoke weakly to the girl:

“Yuri-ah… don’t believe on him… this isn’t truth, I – I never could do this to y-you…”

“You used me since the beginning…  I was j-just part of your s-sick plan to destroy our agency… y-you never loved me…”

The girl glared at him with fresh tears rolling by her face, her eyes showed so much pain. Sooyoung couldn’t handle it, he never lied to her, he was sincere ever since the start. He wanted so hard to hug her, but she would push him away. Slowly, tears also rolled by his eyes as he spoke weakly:

“Yul… I – I always loved you… r-remember that day th-that I told you to-to believe me no matter what?”

Yuri did not answer, but looked away. He knew that she remembered, he took a step close to her as he explained desperately:

“ I swear-r that my love for you always is real… That night, I fought with your father because he didn’t want us to be together. I didn’t want to make your more worried that you already were by telling the truth. I never lied to you and-and this man… he even offered mo---“

“ENOUGH! TAKE HIM OUT OF HERE! MAKE SURE HE WON’T STEP ON THIS BUILDING AGAIN AND APPROACH OF YURI! YOU WONT GET A JOB HERE OR IN ANY COMPANY AGAIN!”

Mr. Kwon cuts Sooyoung before he could reveal the truth. The bunch bodyguards held him tighter this time as the boy flailed himself, but no use. They were leaving the room and Yuri could only look at the scene with such crushing pain in her heart. All of sudden, Sooyoung screamed to her, his voice filled with emotions:

“Yuri-ah, I love you and I am innocent! I will prove you that I am saying the truth!”

They held an intense and heartbreaking stare as tears rolled by their faces. His eyes showed so much sincerity and Yuri felt confused. Is he really saying the truth? But her father wouldn’t lie to her, right? However, the boy turned his eyes to Mr. Kwon who faked a disappointed expression and warned deadly serious:

“Listen here, Mr. Kwon… Keep my words… from this day on, I’ll be the best and successful manager that you ever saw… When this happen… Yuri will know what kind of father she had and how low he can’t be… Lastly… know that I won’t give up on her… I love her and I will do ANYTHING to prove her that you set me up…”

Before a shocked Mr. Kwon could shun him away again, the boy looked at Yuri for the last time with sorrow and love in his eyes. He mouthed the three words that made her heart break entirely… “I love you…”. Afterwards, reluctantly, he jerked himself from the bodyguards’ grip and finally walked away. After a while, Yuri kept staring the door as if he still was there. Once he left, he took her heart with him, she felt so empty and lost. However, a hand was placed on her shoulder followed by a calm voice:

“This was for the best; dear… it was the best…”

For some reasons, Yuri never understood what really happened that night and this entire situation was really confusing. So many things needed to be clarified… yet, her heartbreak stopped her to try anything. Sooyoung disappeared from her life, plus, he was totally forbidden to appear on SM’s building again. The following years, Yuri declined many suitors, most part of them were her father’s suggestions. But she couldn’t love no one again, then she locked her heart and never opened again because the only one person held her key forever...   

[END FLASHBACK]

The beautiful manager snapped back from her reverie and felt something wet in her face. Once she touched, she realized that she already was crying again. Those memories made her think… What if Sooyoung could be saying the truth? She never let him explain, she always trusted blindly in her father because he was her family. All those years away from him was a hell, she couldn’t look to anyone else when her heart never left his. Still, she convicted herself that she made the right choice for not looking for him and know his side of the story, because this would hurt so much… and she was a coward.

Suddenly, her heart brought the previous moments… their fights, his confession and their first kiss after so long, after so much time away… her heart was alive again. She felt all his love, tenderness and truth in his actions… Now, she might lose him forever. No, she refused to accept this. Frowning, Yuri stood up from the couch quickly and made a decision. Rapidly getting her keys from the table, she went out again, got her car and rushed to a familiar place…

“Oh, Yuri-shi? Good evening! It’s been a while. How are y-“

“Mr. Kang… tell me, where is my father? … Please…”

The Kwon family’s butler creased his eyebrows in surprise at Yuri’s odd actions, the girl looked despaired. So, he quickly motioned to her and spoke:

“He is on the living room, Yuri-shi.”  “Thank you, Kang.”

She replied politely as she rushed to the room. Once she arrived, her father was seated on the couch while reading some newspaper, totally unaware of her presence. However, he heard faint footsteps and rapidly looks up to his daughter. Opening a huge smile, he stood up and hugged her, saying happily:

“Oh dear, it’s been a while since you came to see me. How are you?”

After she pulled away, her father frowned worriedly when he saw her hesitant stare. She took a deep breath and started slowly:

“Dad… I need to ask you one thing, so please… tell me the truth.”

“S-sure, dear? What happened?” The middle age man stuttered in nervousness, he certainly doesn’t have a good feeling about this. So, Yuri stared seriously at his eyes and finally dropped the bomb:

“What really happened… between you and… Sooyoung after we broke up?”
