Doojoon's PoV

"Don't worry. I won't hurt you. I'm going to get you out of here."

She didn't seem to believe me, instead choosing to back further into the wall, if possible. Her hands started to flail around without reason, and I stared at her in confusion. When she caught me looking, she forced her hands back around her legs and curled into a tight ball. I really wished she would relax a little. I could hear her heart pounding violently in her chest and her erratic breathing. She seemed so afraid of everything. What could have happened to make her this way? And what sent her into silence?

I heard Sebastian down the hall. Quickly, I stepped away from her and fixed a hard glare on my face. He opened the door and walked in. He had a stack of papers in his hand. "Good, still in one piece. Now let's negotiate price." Oh goodie. My favorite part, paperwork.

Kill me now.

"As I've said, she's perfectly broken in, so I should charge you top dollar for her. And just look at her! A true diamond in the rough," Sebastian said coyly. I almost shuddered. Sebastian doesn't know how to keep his hands off the pretty ones, and who knows how long that girl's been down here.

"Yes, I'm aware that more obedience and attractiveness means a higher price, but you won't con me with that Sebastian. She can't speak or make any noise at all." Taking it a step further, I hissed under my breath, "She can't scream either." I didn't want to scare her, but I had to play at least a little hard to get or Sebastian would get suspicious. Luckily, she didn't seem to be paying attention to us. "With that fact alone, you should be glad that we're still discussing price at all."

I watched him squirm with satisfaction. Bastards like him deserve to be burned at the stake, but I need him to keep saving these humans from a fate worse than death. "Alright, alright. Just because you're such a dependable customer I'll wave the good behavior fee. But I'm still keeping the price up for looks."

I raised an eyebrow at him. "How much are we talking about here, Sebastian?"

He hesitated. I could see the calculator in his head clicking away. He was thinking about how much he could charge without losing me. "300 thousand, and you know that's a good deal Doojoon."

"It would be if it weren't for the fact that she can't talk. 250 or no deal," I said confidently. Over the years, I had developed a good sense of how much to push the price. "Face it Sebastian. You need me to take her off your hands. No one else would offer you nearly as much for her." I smirked at him when he swallowed hard. I had him and he knew it.

"Well, Doojoon, you drive a hard bargain. 250 grand it is." He pulled out the familiar contract. He filled in some information and then signed the first line. "You know the drill," he said as he passed me the papers. I checked over the information and signed the contract.

"I'll move the money over to the card you have on file tonight," I told him. He handed me a few printed out sheets of information about the girl.

"Alright, I'll just get her chained up and you can take your new toy home," he told me.

"That won't be necessary Hyung," I said quickly, probably too quickly, but I couldn't stand the thought of this frightened little girl in chains. "I want to see exactly how well trained she is," I covered. I turned to look at the girl and felt a frown flicker over my face, but I hid it easily. "Stand up and walk behind me. Keep your head down and your hands at your sides." I didn't like giving her orders, but I was thankful that she obeyed immediately.

"See I told you she's an angel," Sebastian said in that slimy voice of his. "She'll follow orders down to the last letter. And if those papers are all you need you can go ahead and take her now."

"Yes I'm sure she'll be perfectly behaved, won't you?" I implored her to agree. I almost sighed with relief when she nodded. "Well then I suppose we'll go now. Thank you again Hyung."

"Please, please! Sebastian! You always do that, going around calling me 'hyung'. It makes me feel old Doojoon." I heard a slight noise, and I knew the girl moved behind me. I just laughed. Sebastian and I had these kind of arguments all the time.

"Right, sorry Sebastian. I guess old habits die hard." I turned to the girl and had to fight to keep my face a blank slate. "Follow," I told her as commandingly as I could. It was hard for me to keep this facade up against such a broken spirit. She just barely had a flicker of life in her eyes. I led her as quickly as possible to the door out of here. As soon as we were through those doors, I would be able to start helping her.

When we arrived at the door, I stopped and pulled a pair of sunglasses out of my pocket. I learned this trick after my first trip when I accidentally ended up blinding the girl I was taking out of here. She was able to see fine after about a week, but I've never forgotten sunglasses after that day. I lifted her face and slid the glasses over her eyes. She wouldn't even look me in the eyes. I put on my own sunglasses and tried to hide the frown that was fighting its way onto my face. I pushed the door open and took a few steps out before turning to watch her.

She flinched at first, obviously not used to light at all, and then she stared up at the sky. I watched her thoughtfully as she finally relaxed a little. Her eyes sparkled in the light. She seemed like a totally new person until she looked at me. It was like time froze. She went from shining like the sun to a shadow trying to escape from the light. Her eyes dropped to the ground, and she was almost visibly shaking as she walked towards me. I gently lifted her face up with a hand under her chin and waited for her eyes to meet mine. When I saw her eyes move under the dark lenses, I smiled at her.

"I told you before, I'm not gonna hurt you. I just wanna get you out of here." I watched as emotions swirled behind her eyes, emotions that she couldn't voice. One eventually surfaced. Resignation. She wasn't trusting me, but I didn't assume she would trust me right away anyway. She didn't know me yet and even if she did, she still might not have trusted me. But at least now she seemed calm enough to function. I flashed her another smile before I said, "Come this way."

She followed quickly behind me as I led her down the street to my car. They don't have cars like ours in the human realm. Mine is built for speed. I opened the back door of the red car and motioned for my new charge to get in. When she was situated, I carefully closed the door and moved to my seat behind the wheel. I started up the engine and turned to talk to the girl. "It's a pretty long drive home, about an hour even with my driving," I admitted, "so you can sleep if you want. If you need anything just..." Crap. I searched around for something to say. "Um, clap. Just clap." Great now it's awkwardly silent. I just love awkward silences. I shifted to drive and started down the road. When I heard gentle breathing from the back seat, I looked back to see a little sleeping beauty. She was so cute in her sleep, so at peace.

I reached the mainway, the demon equivalent of the interstate, and floored it to a speed slightly slower than what I would normally drive, just for safety's sake. We reached the house, and she was still sleeping soundly in the back seat. I couldn't bring myself to wake her up, so I carefully picked her up and carried her inside. Everyone else was in the mess hall right now, so I decided to take her to her room. I laid her gently in her bed and tucked her in. There was no sense in waking her up now when she obviously needed the rest. Hyunseung might yell at me later, but it was worth it to see her so calm.
