“Hi, Oppa…”

She said through the glass wall between us and I smiled back pushing a button so she could hear me back. “Hi, Hyun… what’s up?” I playfully said to which she answered with an obvious nervous giggle. “Relax, will you? It’s not like your first time.”

“You being there and me being here… who won’t be nervous?”

“How about if I go there?”

“That won’t serve the purpose.”

“I mean, would you be more nervous?” I winked. She rolled her eyes, “Alright, so shall we, Hyun?”

“Uhm, the beat just came to me last night so I made some quick adjustments…”

My Hyun was blabbering again as I bobbed my head listlessly to show my impatience, “Can we hear it already?”

We have been going around it for quite some time now. A couple of hours ago, I got a call from her saying that I needed to pick her up from one appointment since her manager oppa had an emergency at home. Because of my own commitment, I asked if there was someone else who’d be available to get her but she snapped quite pointedly that one of her fanboys would probably love the idea.

And yeah, that alone made me rush to where she was.

She gave me the address which happened to be at the SM building, the floor, the room and stuff that I should know about. When the time came, the direction just led me to an almost-empty room with nothing but a table set up for two and Hyun standing there with a bouquet of roses.

Yes, the almost-empty room filled my heart in seconds.

“Hyun?”

“Hi, Oppa.”

“What’s this?”

“A surprise date…”

“Oh…” My stunned look changed her expression though.

“You don’t like it,” she said dryly, “I-I’m sorry… I know you’re busy and…”

I strode across the room and gently grabbed her by the elbow and let her head fall on my shoulder as my other hand s on the small of her back. “No—it was a surprise and I was… am surprised! Hyun, my god… I’m just so thrilled to see you now that your schedule is packed and I’m busy myself.” I held her tighter as I closed my eyes to bask on her perfumed hair. “How could we ever manage something like this? How could you ever get away for this?”

“Seeing ‘us’ is such a luxury, huh?”

I could sense the smile on her lips, “I guess that’s the way it is… a luxury. You know, you’re my luxury I can never get enough of. The luxury I love indulging myself in.”

“You’re such a cheesy person.”

We both laugh as I pulled away. Then we laughed again seeing the bouquet of roses helplessly squished after our embrace.

“For you,” she said.

“Thank you,” I smiled as I took the poor thing. “I always like getting flowers from you.”

“Likewise,” she winked.

“Are you ready?”

Her voice brought me back from reverie so I smiled with the playful thought in my head so I voiced it out, “Always… always ready for you, my cupcake.” I laughed when she just balanced her guitar on her lap, raised her arms to show me her curled fingers so I rolled my eyes with a half laugh, “Alright… alright… got the message…”

“Okay, I’m starting…”

I tinkered on the mixing console. I wanted to record it first to see how I would play with her song for me but I shifted on my seat the moment I felt her fingers on the strings. I thought my heart was calm but it suddenly beat louder as if going along the beat as she strummed her guitar. She smiled with that touch of pink on both her cheeks.

My heart swelled. I couldn’t contain the feeling as my eyes felt watery. I won’t cry, of course but she was making me. She smiled from across the room and I nodded. Her eyes closed one more time so I thought she was ending her song, but she didn’t. Her voice was soft and mellow, they sent shivers down my spine.

She lifted her gaze at me and I couldn’t help but give her a gentle smile and a nod as if answering her song.
