Foreword

Since the beginning of time, the world has been in constant chaos and destruction. Humans’ one immortal enemy: the vampires, the cold ones who bloodlust and murder, yet emit an air of mystery and beauty. War between these two kinds has always existed. No peace, no harmony, not one bit of happiness. Thirteen brothers ruled as the thirteen princes. These creatures were merciless, cold, and arrogant. The vampire population grew with these brothers, whom, having several descendants, reproduced and had several more. The strong, powerful aristocratic vampires ruled over the humans, sending the humans into fear, suppression, and rebellion. The humans were none but peasants, lower classmen, wanderers, or traveling gypsies. They were constantly fighting for survival in their cruel, dark world; always on the lookout for their lives, always paying heavy taxes, and always revolting, with a massacre ensuing. Although the vampires enjoyed their luxurious lifestyle, some vampires harbored a hatred for their kind. They sought for peace between both kinds and for balance to be restored to the world once again. In the cover of the night, these vampires gathered together and formed an organization called The Akatsuki. Vowing to finally win justice and peace in the world, they plotted to assassinate the thirteen princes and the corrupt aristocracy, and sometimes allowing mercy to some aristocracy if they truly changed. Six princes have been killed since then. However, one prince sent a spy and one by one, members of The Akatsuki were murdered. The Akatsuki retaliated against the aristocracy, yet all was in vain; the powers of the last seven princes combined were too great and resulted in great losses. Their numbers dwindled and only a handful survived; these remaining left to hide from the aristocracy and the princes. In hopes of gathering more followers, they traveled together from country to country during the night, seeking for those who have not yet been tainted, for those who had a pure of heart and will-power. When discovering alliances between the aristocracy and the humans, those humans never woke to see the light of day again. The long journey continues. Only fate will determine their destiny and the destiny of the world.
