Chapter 5

“Well, Kaihun is really epic!” shouted Baekhyun while heading toward the changing room. He clinged onto Chanyeol’s shoulder, pouting his lips. He yelled in disappointment because they stole Baekyeol’s attentions completely. The questions asked by the MC were mostly directed at Kaihun, the only couple shining on today’s event. Baekyeol had only been asked of how did they get the name ‘Baekyeol’? The answer was classic  yet rhetorical, it’s an abbreviation of Baekhyun and Chanyeol, isn’t it?

“Ay, get lost! Go find another thing to lean on!” commented Chanyeol while shooing Baekhyun from his shoulder.

Baekhyun hit Chanyeol’s shoulder. “Well, because of these… you’re being stubborn, reluctant, apathetic, and awkward, Baekyeol has been lacked of fans. You didn’t answer my bait well!”

Chanyeol yelled back at Baekhyun who was acting like a PMS girl.

Suho popped beside the two who were in a cold war. While drawing them aside, Suho reminded them of their success today. More than being an and arguing about something… artificial. “Yah, yah! Don’t be such a kid! Why don’t you take a break? You’re tired, aren’t you?”

Baekhyun stuck his tongue out toward Chanyeol before going first to the changing room.

In other words, the fan signing was a success. In the hall, fans were still standing in their position, shouting each member’s name; hoping at least one of them would appear on the stage once again, repeating their wonderful show from one hour before. Too bad, fan signing was totally over no matter how hard they wished the other way. What was left was just another tired faces with smile plastered on it for making a great fan signing.

However, one person was not showing any kind of smiles even though he did feel the tiredness and satisfaction as well as the others. Because of one thing, just one thing for goodness’ sake, Luhan was having difficulties to tug the corner of his lips upward. Chen and Lay gave him a pat on the back of thank-you-for-your-hard-work, which was replied with a grin.

His slanted eyes aimed at Sehun who was walking beside Kai.

Kaihun. Was that what Sehun called his new couple now?

“Aish!” shouted Luhan in exasperation. In the interview session, he was placed between Xiumin and D.O. Quite far away from Sehun, with Lay, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, and Kai, sat in between. It gotten worse when MC brought Kaihun-Kaihun-Kaihun, over-and-over. Didn’t she see ‘Hunhan’ all over the place right before her very eyes? Repeatedly hearing Kaihun made Luhan’s ears hurt. In a blink of eye, his popularity that he had just been proud of was taken away, just like that?

Xiumin brushed off Luhan’s arm. He questioned the crumpled expression of the main vocalist of EXO-M. “What’s wrong, huh?”

Luhan reacted to Xiumin’s question, walking closer toward Sehun and nudged the slender boy’s arm, surprising Sehun himself and Kai too. Luhan could feel refusal coming from his retraction, a sign of resistance. Luhan looked at him intensely. “Come with me for a sec,” he said.

Accompanied by confused expression of Kai, Xiumin, and trio Kris, D.O, and Lay who was walking behind, Luhan pulled Sehun to the toilet. He locked the main door, so no one could interrupt. Now, they could take their time talking in private.

Sehun still didn’t comprehend what Luhan meant. His muscles were all worn-out and needed a rest in changing room, not in a toilet and… ahem, with just him and Luhan. He coughed. His throat became dry all of a sudden. “Hyung, what’s wrong?”

“We’ve had a word for Hunhan already, not Kaihun!”

“Ah~” So it was all about that.

Sehun’s flat response just raised Luhan’s anger even more. How easy Sehun responded to his anger. His wrath!

“Hyung, it’s just MC-sshi. She want to raise the atmosphere, just that. We’re still Hunhan…”

“Will be Kaihun if you did it with Kai! Why would you keep up with that MC-sshi? Why did you act so well there, if it were just a bait? Congratulation, you’ve made Kaihun alive successfully!”

Sehun bit his lower lip. Luhan was far more serious than he thought. His rage was not a joke. He really was angry for Kaihun’s act on stage earlier. Well, Sehun didn’t have any choice since Kai had been sitting beside him, continuously provoking his reaction by putting his hand on Sehun’s lap while talking to him, laid his head down Sehun’s shoulder, or Sehun’s messy hair. There was no other choice but to response at those treatments properly, put his hand over Kai’s, laid his head down Kai’s shoulder instead, and smiled a meaningful smile whenever Kai’s fingers landed on his hair. Moreover, MC-sshi kept on teasing them.

Anyway, Luhan was too far indeed; impossible for being his partner, while the atmosphere needed to be kept alive. There was Chanyeol and Baekhyun who looked at each other and shared smiles. But it’s too slow to turn on the hysterical audience. Thus, Sehun accepted Kai’s offer and—

“Hyung, why are you so serious? It’s just a business, right?” asked Sehun.

“You—“ Luhan’s words were swallowed back. Sehun was 100% correct. This was just merely a business, which meant, just to rise the rating of EXO’s popularity. Sehun had done well with Kai. Audiences’ desire had been ignited to the point it flamed up brilliantly. It rose thousand times higher. So, why would he have to be this angry that his brows wrinkled in restraining his emotion?

“Because of Kaihun…”

Bull!

Threw away your naivety and acknowledged the truth, Luhan! You were so frustrated wanting Sehun to become your tool to steal the hearts of Korean fans and losing Sehun meant good-bye to all of your popularity. After this, you would be as equal as the others would; nothing was special, not at all.

“Be-because I need you…”

Sehun stunned for a few seconds. Luhan need him?

“I-I think… I-I need you…”

“H-hyung…” called Sehun. “Do you mean… you’re jealous with Kai?”

Jealous? YES.

In what context? Huh?

“Y-you can say that.” Luhan didn’t know why he said those things. His mind was having too much trouble to be compromised at the time. He said anything that popped out in his mind without thinking twice. He couldn’t help. He needed Sehun very much, thus he need to be compromise that Sehun understood what he meant. “I-I t-think… I-I…”

Sehun placed his fingers on that thin lips to silent Luhan for saying the next words he had known already. He wouldn’t let Luhan said it because he looked so troubled stringing up words. Particularly, because this was the fault of pabo Oh Sehun. His. He would redeem, redeeming of his sin. “No, Hyung. Don’t say it! I know what you mean,” he said with shy smile.

Luhan wished he was dreaming when he was looking at Sehun’s cheeks reflecting red as tomato.

“So, up until now, all of this, this business thing is just a pretense, right? Ah, I’m too stupid to not see it coming. Naega paboya, jintja!” Sehun punished himself by hitting his own temples several times. “I should know this from the very beginning!”

Sehun-ah, wh-what did you try to say?

“Hyung…” Sehun reached for Luhan’s fingers from beside his body and intertwined them tightly between his own and smiled shyly. Just like a girl in front of her boyfriend. Eh, was it like that? “Luhan hyung, mianhae. Next time, no more Kaihun. Forever… there will only be Hunhan. I promise because… I think… I… need you, too. I-I… I like you, Hyung…”

Mong.

Mong. Mong.
