Flashback

A few minutes after EXO-K came out from the van…

Kai pulled Sehun from D.O’s side after the coordi-noona finished his hairdo. There was important thing to talk about, he said to Suho who reminded everyone to gather for briefing. The building’s details was too strange so Kai decided to bring Sehun to the fire escape. If Luhan and EXO-M’m members showed like the last time, Kai would be willing to choke himself.

“Hyung, stop pulling me like a pet dog!” Sehun protested.

Kai gave what he want. Being overly hurried, his grip just now had made Sehun’s wrist reddened. His lips wanted to say sorry, but he would keep it for some other times. His curiosity had shoved his patience. He asked straightforwardly about what he had seen earlier down there, about Sehun and Luhan’s private photos among the banner on their fans’ hand.

Someone had taken them out. One among Sehun or Luhan.

Somehow Kai’s suspicion was directed at the person before him, although he was the one who said ‘Luhan’ as the doer.

“What are you trying to do?” asked Kai, refusing to use platitude. “A hidden message for Luhan hyung? You—” Kai raised his hand which was ready to be used as a tool to point at Sehun. Not wanting to look arrogant. “You want Hunhan to come back to life?”

“That’s what fans—”

“That’s what you WANT!” Kai shouted. He turned, his back was facing Sehun because he felt embarrassed himself over his deed just now. Why would he become so emotional regarding this? Of course, Kai knew the aftermath of the high expectation from fans for Hunhan, would hurt Sehun more. Luhan was clearly unable to give what Sehun had asked. His answer for the maknae’s feeling as a man, not as EXO’s Luhan who interacts intimately as a part of fan service.

Fan service offered by Luhan was a fake and, seeing all the artificiality when Sehun was hoping and respecting him as a form of his affection’s release was hurting Kai. Kai didn’t want Sehun being used just to rise Hunhan’s popularity. Feelings couldn’t be bought even in the most equipped supermarket or healed in the hospital by the greatest doctor anywhere.

Why wouldn’t Sehun understand this so-simple meaning?”

“Ne, I really am hoping for it,” said Sehun behind Kai. With an utter disbelief, Kai looked back at Sehun, asking him to repeat that sentence again. And Sehun granted it. He replied yet again, “I wish for it, Hyung. I’m hoping for Hunhan in reality.”

“But you know, Luhan hyung is just thinking of it as a part of fan service; his filthy trick to gain his popularity! For goodness, he is using you, Oh Sehun! He’s just making you as an exploitation object!” Kai gripped both Sehun’s shoulder. “Look into my eyes and say it once again if you really want it. You, with full conscience have let Luhan hyung fooled around with your fondness and let yourself bear all the pain on your own?”

Sehun reached for Kai’s hand. “Hyung, do you know what pain is for me? It was the feeling when I hate what I saw, what I heard, and what I felt. All of that happened when Luhan hyung is with Xiumin hyung, luring our fans to create Xiuhan, Lumin, or whatever it is. Luhan hyung is Hunhan’s. Mine…”

Kai’s mouth opened in disbelief. “Oh Sehun, neo… So it’s really you who spread the photo?”

Sehun nodded, explaining bluntly, what he had done last night. Borrowing his cousin’s account who was an admin of Luhan biased blog, Sehun uploaded those pictures. The most intimate pose of Hunhan, which was 100% real, not a trick of the high technology. Slipping a hidden message, exactly like what Kai had accused, not other than wanting fans’ enthusiasm coming back to life.

Hunhan was taking its glory back.

“I don’t mind about what we had done in front of fans. While everyone regard them as fan service, I—“

Kai snapped Sehun’s shoulder. “You’re not a pet dog! You’re human! You have feeling and—“

“Hyung’s ever said, as long as you like something, do it to the utmost…”

“Don’t use my motto in this case! Those are two different things!”

“Jongin hyung, listen—“

“You who should listen to me! Stop your foolish and—“

“Aish, Hyung, shut it up!” shouted Sehun ending the words war. To be precise, silencing Kai who didn’t expect the maknae to shout back at him. His childish face had gone, replaced by a serious face like D.O had when yelling at EXO-K’ members who put their things recklessly.

Of course, Sehun would toss aside all kind of aegyo when it came to talking about Luhan. It was related to his future, EXO’s future, and everyone’s, who was related, future. Imagine what chaos would happened if Sehun’s feeling were found out. Being gay was not an open choice in Asia and became one of them would be a deadly boomerang. Not only Sehun’s newly made career but also, EXO, SME, and Korean’s musical history would be scratched.

The maknae realized his impudence towards his 3-months-older-hyung and apologized.

Kai chuckled. “I’m the one who should apologize for annoying you with my foolish wariness. Did I bother you, Oh Sehun? Was I lack of self-conscience? Not knowing my position? Tell me then I’ll step back along with all my attention….”

“Hyung…”

“Right? You put me aside for Luhan hyung. You stop listening to my words. You’ve changed, Oh Sehun! Your eyes have been blinded with your one-sided feeling and become foolish because of it. Remember, don’t ever come to me and say your regret after today. I have warned you, understand?!”

Kai’s ringing phone broke the complicated situation. Kai pulled that thing angrily from his pocket.

Luhan called.

“Give it to me…,” said Sehun.

Kai snorted and gave it to Sehun. “Don’t say stupid things…”

Sehun didn’t reply, pushing the green button. “Hyung…”

Luhan answered from the other end, a bit too enthusiastic. He sounded so happy knowing that Sehun was the one answering. He asked where Sehun was, saying that the event was about to start. Sehun bit his lip and cut Luhan’s sentence. Now or never. “Hyung, today, please stay with me as Hunhan,”

“Iye?”

The startled voice was Luhan’s. Kai’s was shown by his eyes, which was widened.

“Let’s play Hunhan for the entire day,” said Sehun while looking straightly at Kai, without breaking eye contact by a blink or eyeball’s movement. “During the fan signing, stay beside me. We’ll show our fans, how real Hunhan is. Today, do it today… forget about Xiuhan, Lumin, or whatever it is. There’s only Hunhan. Only Hunhan who—“

Kai ended the call, before gripping Sehun’s arm. “What’s wrong with you?”

“I want Hunhan,” said Sehun, still not blinking or averting his gaze from Kai. His voice sounded so firm, far from the Oh Sehun who was talking in the TV; who answered the MC’s question with an unreasonable giggle. “When it comes to Luhan hyung…” Sehun continued, “I will never mind about what he had done to me. Using me, fooling around with me, took advantage of me… or whatever term it is. Say that I’m a foolish and naïve but I love being like this. Love is not blind, Hyung, but that’s right… it’s blinding rationality. And, sorry, I have to be stubborn about that.”
