The Rumour

I Will Always Love You...

9 years has past. Min, Kikwang, Hyosung are now 16 years old. Since they met, their friendship remained strong and although, they were at the right age to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, they felt that they didn’t really have time for a relationship as most of time, they spent it with each other. Moreover, they feared that if one of them was to have a relationship, that person would have other priorities beside them that they no longer have the time for each other and eventually separate.

For them, their friendship was more important than finding a boyfriend or a girlfriend thus; they are still stuck by each other, through thick and thin. They also felt that they are still too young to be in a relationship, although, there have been many confessions of other people towards them, they always refuse and also always give the reason that they are too busy to be in a relationship. For now, the most important thing in their lives is to cherish each moment they have with each other and all were thinking the same thing that they didn’t want anyone to stand between them...especially love.

Once, they visited their former primary school and looking over the school, they can’t help but to reminisce of the memories they shared in that place. From the time when Kikwang and Min met and eventually became friends to at the time when Hyosung was the new student and eventually completed their group.

They went to the small hill near the playground and breathed the fresh, crisp air whilst looking over the beautiful landscape in front of them.

“It has been a long time, hasn’t it?” Min asked, facing the two people she treasured the most.

“Yeah, it really has.” Kikwang replied back, looking far over his old school and remembering the memories they had there.

Without even knowing, all made the same gesture, a combination of putting their hands to their hips and sighing very deeply. When they saw this, they laughed at the same action they’d done.

“Why do we always resemble each other? Well, we can’t help it anyway, we’ve spent 9 years together, it’s normal that sometimes we do the same thing, you know?” Hyosung declared and the other two nodded in agreement.

Whilst they were leaving, Hyosung put her arm over Min’s shoulders and asked,

“Min, I’ve heard of that rumour about Hongki asking you out? What do you think? Do you think you like him too?”

Kikwang overheard this and without knowing, he unintentionally paid attention attentively to the girls’ conversation. In his mind, he kept thinking of different answers that Min could say but due to the long wait for Min’s reply, he impatiently said,

“What is it? It’s a simple question, Min, with a simple choice of Yes or No. It’s not difficult for you to tell us, after all, we’re all best friends, and it’s not as if you haven’t told us your secrets before. What is it, yes or no?”

Min was taken aback at his sudden question.

“Ummm... Well, he asked me out but I simply don’t know what to say. It was too sudden so I was too shocked that I couldn’t reply and the only response that I could give him was a thank you, that’s all.” Min responded.

“But, do you like him or not?” Kikwang uttered straightforwardly.

“Well...Ummm...” Min contemplates.

“What? It’s not a difficult question, yet again, I ask you, do you like him or not? Just tell me a yes or a no?” Kikwang couldn’t help but to feel annoy of Min’s indecisiveness. He also didn’t know why he was reacting this way, but in the background, Hyosung knew that Kikwang was jealous that there was someone who liked Min.

In order for Kikwang to stop dwelling over the subject, she retorted,

“Kikwang, what is wrong with you? Why are you being so forceful towards Min? This is her business and therefore, you should take no part of it. As her friends, we should wait until she can tell us of her feelings, either she likes him or not, that’s for her to figure out. You have got to stop this.” She couldn’t help but to give Kikwang a death glare and emphasising her last words.

For Min, this was a relief. She didn’t want to answer the dreaded question of whether she liked Hongki or not. Thankfully, Hyosung rescued her just in time.

“No, Hyosung, it’s fine. I understand why Kikwang is feeling this way; I would feel the same way of this happened to one of you. I’ll also be curious about your feelings to someone else too so don’t worry. By the way, to answer your question, I simply don’t know right now what I feel about him. I haven’t thought of him in that way before.” Min revealed.

“Why do you feel that way?” Kikwang questioned curiously.

“I’ve got to admit, he’s a nice and friendly person who also treats me well. I just don’t know why I don’t feel the same way as he does to me? Am I weird in feeling this?”Min answered.

“Haven’t you already answered my question? You clearly don’t have feelings for him when right now; you don’t see him the same way as he does. I think you like someone else so you are not able to like Hongki.” Kikwang stated.

Min became silent and stared at Kikwang. Why do I feel what Kikwang is saying is true? Am I actually harbouring romantic feelings towards someone else that I can’t like Hongki? More importantly, why do I feel so happy that Kikwang is becoming jealous over this? I have to admit, I did have a crush over Kikwang before, at the time when we were kids but I’m 16 years old now, crushes don’t mean a thing. But, why do I feel that I may actually be feeling something else when I’m with him? What should I do? Min didn’t know that she was being silent for a while now.

Kikwang noticed this and he ruffled Min’s hair to distract her from her deep thoughts. However, Min was already too occupied of her own thoughts. She simply couldn’t help but dwell on her thoughts even further.

“Shall we find someplace to eat?”Hyosung suggested, “My belly has been grumbling since we came here.”

The mention of food immediately diverted Min’s attention and without knowing, she stopped.

Min cheerfully replied, “Me too! Let’s go!”

Kikwang and Hyosung laughed at her reaction and quickly followed her.

Hyosung thought that, At least for now, Min wouldn’t know of Kikwang's feelings for her. I just can’t let that happen.

Chapter 5: Guys, Hyosung is friends with both Kikwang and Min but the reason why she was acting that way was because she simply didn't want Min and Kikwang to be together, but she's not being a fake friend in that sense then, I think! Sorry for the misunderstanding. :D
