Was the day so hard that you couldn’t take it?
Perhaps someone said some hurtful things

Roy sighed heavily. He tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. His brows furrowed, which meant he was deep in thought. He sighed again, then placed his hands under his head while he stared blankly at the wall.

I knew he was worried. More than that, he was confused and offended. Discouraged, even.

“Sangwoo-yah,” I said his name quietly.

“Hyung,” he answered. “Joonyoung hyung…”

There was no need for him to explain further. I knew about it anyway. Everyone did. It was on the news, on the internet – and it was all blown out of proportion.

It all started with that dating scandal, followed by issues about his little slip-of-the-tongue during one of his concerts (well, okay, that’s an understatement. He shouldn’t have made that kind of joke in the first place). And now, there’s these accusations of “Bom Bom Bom” being plagiarized.

All those accusations were false. I knew that. Roy would never do such a thing. Never.

“Come here,” I said, motioning for him to come closer to me. I wrapped an arm around him and ruffled his hair affectionately.

“I screwed up a lot, didn’t I?” he asked.

“We all make mistakes,” I told him. “But don’t you ever listen to those baseless comments about you. You deserve none of them.”

3, 4 It upsets my heart to see you toss and turn
So I put the blanket on you even warmer
As I hold in my breath so that I won’t make a single noise

“Everyone seems to think that I’m not good enough,” Roy continued, “that I have to plagiarize songs because I can’t – “

“Shh, that’s not true,” I told him, looking him in the eye. “Your fans believe in you. Your family believes in you.”

“And I believe in you,” I added.

He smiled a little and nodded, but traces of sadness were still evident on his expression.

“Go to sleep, Roy. Tomorrow will be a better day,” I reassured him.

He slipped down under the covers, turning to the direction facing away from me. I could tell he was still awake. Sleep had been difficult for him for the last few nights.

The world is more complicated than you can imagine
And it probably scares you since you’re gentle and nice
It’s okay, I will stand by your side

All these inconsiderate remarks from people were new to him. He was used to hearing compliments and praises, I guess. Because that’s what he deserved to hear after all – he’s a person with a pure heart. He has given his all to achieve his dreams.

He has stayed so humble though he’s achieved so much in such a short period of time. And he’s always giving back all the love he’s received by working hard on his music.

I hated seeing him get hurt.

I inched closer toward him, and held him gently in my arms. He still didn’t look at me, but his turbulent breathing became steady and even. He was calming down.

You are never a weak person – the world will know too
I will protect you and support you
Please have strength, with my love

“You are strong, Sangwoo. You can get through this. You have done nothing to be ashamed of, okay?” I whisper into his ear.

“I know, hyung. I know,” he replied as he wrapped my arms tighter around his shoulders.

The sound of his voice told me he would be okay. I finally smiled.

“Oppa loves you,” I remind him. “Never forget that.”

“I won’t,” he said. “I’ll always love oppa too.”

I held him in my arms for the rest of the night. I wanted him to know, to feel, that even for just a moment, he was safe from this cold, harsh world. He was safe here in my arms, and I would protect him forever if I could.

But we both knew that when the daylight came, and after the weeks fly by, we’d be oceans apart.

So pulled him closer, till I, too, fell into a deep and dreamless slumber.

Hello, dear readers and subscribers :) Thank you so much for giving your time in reading these oneshots and for all your comments. This may be the last chapter in this story collection, but that doesn't mean I'll stop writing stories about Roy and Joonyoung. I'll post links here if I make something new.

As many of you may know by now, Roy will be going back to the US on the 25th of August. I hope you guys will tweet to him (@RoySangwooKim), and wish him luck in his studies. Let's wait patiently till he comes back, alright? ^^
