Part II - Chapter One

Always There

Part Two: Did You Forget?
Chapter One

Roy sat nervously as he waited for the emcee to finish introducing him. He tapped on his guitar, and told himself to calm down and just enjoy performing. This was his debut stage, his moment to shine, the beginning of the realization of his dreams--the dreams that people couldn't understand at first. He had gone through so much disappointment, frustrations, and regrets, but he didn't give up.* This opportunity to perform in front of the thousands of fans and artists on the MAMA stage was his reward for all his efforts.

The lights shined on him. He started to strum his guitar. He started to sing.

The crowd cheered in amazement. His talents proved to be exceptional.

He felt himself starting to relax while he sang. But as he stood up, put his guitar down, and turned to finally face the audience, a sudden surge of trepidation ran through his veins.

He had not expected to see such a huge crowd. In the sea of people, he finally spotted one familiar face: Joonyoung, his best friend. Joonyoung smiled at him encouragingly.

All his nervousness vanished. If Joonyoung was there to support him, he could do anything.

"Joonyoung oppa, without you I wouldn't have gotten this far,"** Roy had written in his letter to Joonyoung when Joonyoung got eliminated.

He wasn't exaggerating. Joonyoung's encouragement was crucial for his success.

"Fighting!" Joonyoung mouthed.

Roy smiled. He started singing "Who Do You Live For?" Roy seized the moment, made the MAMA stage his, and captured the hearts of the people watching and listening.

Joonyoung looked at his dear friend in awe. That was his Roy right there--the wealthy, good-looking, intelligent, and talented boy who seemed to have everything, the boy--no, the man who had pursued his dreams despite his family's initial objection, the man who didn't give up, the man who gave his everything to be where he was. Joonyoung's heart swelled with pride as he watched Roy. Roy deserved his success.

Roy climbed up the platform and was elevated above the stage. All eyes and ears were glued to him. Joonyoung was perhaps the only one worried that Roy might accidentally fall. He mumbled a prayer, hoping that his friend would be safe.

Roy continued to sing and impress the crowd. The platform was finally lowered. And in a few minutes, Roy's performance came to its well-applauded conclusion. Joonyoung clapped and cheered the hardest.

Realizing how silly it was of him to worry about Roy falling after the performance, Joonyoung just shook his head at himself.

"Aish...that stupid dream is making me think of Roy as a child."

----------

"Joonyoung hyung."

Joonyoung turned to the direction of that familiar voice. Roy stood beside him. He motioned for Roy to sit and extended his hand to congratulate Roy. Roy took his hand as he sat.

"You did well. You did really well," Joonyoung said to him. Roy smiled.

"Thanks." He gripped Joonyoung's hand tighter. Joonyoung gripped his hand back and gave him a smile too. Roy gave Joonyoung a hug.

"Thank you for coming here, hyung."

"Anything for you, dongsaeng. I'm so proud of you."

The two heard someone clear his throat. They instantly pulled apart upon seeing that it was Psy. They got up and greeted him. Psy congratulated Roy on his debut; Roy thanked him.

When they sat back down, Psy set himself in between Roy and Joonyoung.

"If I don't keep these two apart...fans might start writing fanfics about them," Psy thought and laughed to himself.

Readers, thank you for your patience in waiting for me to update. Thank you for your comments, and thank you for subscribing ^^ I will post the second chapter of part two either tonight or tomorrow in the morning.

I know Psy actually sat beside Joonyoung throughout Roy's performance, and that he was probably there when Roy came back to take his seat...but, hey, this is a fanfic :)) It doesn't have to correspond with what happened in real life.

Joonyoung's feelings as he watched Roy's debut in this fic is how I felt as I watched Roy perform on the MAMA stage ^^

I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
