Two girls were walking down the hallway, heading to their class. They’re swaying their intertwined hands happily while singing a song. Other students were talking about them while chuckling but they didn’t care.

“Hey! I just met you and this is crazy…”, Jessica pointed her index finger to the other girl signaling her to continue the song.

“But here’s my number so call me maybe”, Tiffany continued while shaking her head.

They both laughed hard to themselves.

As they entered their classroom, their friends stared at them weirdly.

“Yah!”, their danshin friend, Taeyeon, shouted startling them.

“Are you sure you’re not a couple?”, she asked while narrowing her eyes on the two girls. This caught the attention of their classmates as they looked at them thinking, ‘What the hell’s wrong with these people?’

Sooyoung, their tall and shikshin friend butted in, “Yeah! You act like one! Just admit it, okay?”

Jessica and Tiffany looked at each other. “Are we?”, they asked in unison and smiled. They turned back their attention to their friends as they answered, “No we’re not!”, leaving them gaped in awe.

They proceeded to their seats still giggling at their friends’ faces. The teacher arrived just in time as the school bell rang. Time seemed to pass by slowly. Boredom filled the air of the classroom as the teacher continued to talk about Karl Marx as one of the prominent founders of modern social sciences along with Emile Durkheim and Max Weber. She kept on praising Marx’s economic analysis on capitalism which includes the analysis of capitalist, or the bourgeoisie, profit as the extraction of surplus value from the exploited proletariat.

Tiffany poked Jessica’s cheeks and giggled.

“What’s your problem, Fany?”, the latter asked coldly with eyes still on the teacher.

Tiffany hissed, slightly irritated for not getting her seatmate’s attention. She leaned in and whispered to the girl’s ear, “Jessi! Mr. Lee has been discussing that topic for a week now. He looks like a crazy fanboy of Karl Marx! He’s so ridiculous!”. She grinned lightly only to receive a glare from the other.

“Keep quiet Tiffany Hwang MiYoung! Can’t you see I’m trying to concentrate here? So please!”, Jessica returned her attention to the teacher.

Tiffany kept mum feeling hurt for the frigidness of her friend and at the same time scarred to deal with an annoyed Jessica. She tried to focus on the discussion but she couldn’t. She glanced at her seatmate who’s busy taking down notes and pouted when the latter didn’t even bother to look at her.

The depressed girl sighed dejectedly and continued to pout not aware that the other was secretly laughing at the back of her mind but was able to maintain her serious façade.

Ding….Ding…..Ding…..Ding……

“Ugh! Finally!”, Tiffany blurted out loudly while stretching her arms as soon as the teacher exited the room.

Jessica tried to reach for her hand but she backed away, still feeling hurt of the girl’s attitude towards her a while ago. The other girl was persistent as she continuously poked the pouting girl’s cheek, “Fany-ah~ Please don’t be mad at me!”

Tiffany tried not to give in at her friend’s awkward aegyo but she just couldn’t resist it.  “Aish! Why can’t I even stay mad at you for too long?”, she shouted, gathering again the attention of the people in the room.

“Lover’s Quarrel!”, her friend, Hyoyeon, teased.

Jessica smiled victoriously, knowing that Tiffany could never ever resist her, as she dragged her out of the classroom to escape the teasing of their friends and classmates.

Five girls were walking along the boulevard and were heading home. The other three- Taeyeon, Sooyoung and Hyoyeon- walked ahead Jessica and Tiffany, reasoning that they wanted to give the two some ‘privacy’.

“What’s wrong with them?, Jessica mumbled to herself but loud enough for Tiffany to hear.

“They’re just teasing us, Jessi!”, eyesmiling girl chuckled and pinched her friend’s cheek.

“Ouch!”, Jessica yelped in pain so Tiffany pecked her reddened cheek feeling guilty. Jessica felt warm blood rush into her cheeks not because of the pain but because of the sudden contact.

The other girl giggled, delighted with the blushing Jessica, “Awww! You’re so cute Jessi!”. The latter blushed even more.

As they continued to walk, Tiffany suddenly stopped and asked out of nowhere, “Jessi! Are you gay?”.

Jessica flinched at her friend’s question. She didn’t exactly know what to answer so she asked back, “Tiffany! Are you gay?”, as if teasing the other girl.

After a minute of awkward silence, “I’m gay!”, they both answered at the same time.  They stared at each other blankly for a second before bursting into laughter.

“We’re gay!”, they cheered as they continued to laugh.

When the laughter subsided, Tiffany decided to talk first, “So?”

“So?”, Jessica raised an eyebrow and smirked knowing what the girl meant.

“A-are we?”, Tiffany stuttered and it amused Jessica.

She chuckled before continuing the other girl’s question, “A couple?”

The girl nodded shyly.

“Hmmmmmmmm….”, Jessica tapped her chin, pretending to be thinking about something, causing the eyesmiling girl to pout. She laughed before she exclaimed, “We’re a couple!”.

Tiffany beamed at what she said and hugged her excitedly. Jessica hugged her back. She couldn’t help but chuckled at her friends’ cuteness. No, scratch that. She couldn’t help but admired her girlfriend’s adorableness and cuteness.

They were just enjoying the moment when suddenly,

“They are a couple!”

“Jessica and Tiffany are together!”

“I knew it! Told ‘ya!”

Taeyeon, Sooyoung and Hyoyeon shouted simultaneously, pointing at their friends accusingly, as they appeared from behind a tree. They were hiding all the while trying to eavesdrop from the two girls’ conversation.

Jessica and Tiffany looked at them incredulously as they pulled away from the hug. They looked at each other and smirked. They held each other’s hands and ran away leaving their three crazy friends who were still laughing hysterically. They glanced back to them and shouted together, “We’re a couple!”, and continued running while giggling to themselves.
