Bloodshot Eyes
The faces of the neighborhood drug dealer who always greeted you every morning on your way to school, the quiet yet handsome yet dangerous store owner who offered to give you a pepper gun spray for safety measures, the elderly lady who nagged at you at least once a week to stop feeding the stray cats... turned in your direction with the intent of devouring you.
You stared back into their bloodshot eyes and studied their appearance from the emergency exit stairs. The escape ladder was up, so it was impossible for any of them to climb up to you.
Reeking with the scent of gasoline, there were many other familiar faces among the mass of moving bodies, clawing up in your direction--some of their nails already broken off and their lips viciously curled back and red with blood, not life. Their bodies bathed in gasoline you had poured on them earlier, and their hair messy and loose as if they had just awoken up from a nap.
Actually, in a way, they did just wake up from a nap.
An everlasting nap called death.
Quietly, you pulled out a lighter and lit a wandering pamphlet that was fluttering around in the wind. The images of the security guard, librarian, elderly lady and many others wildly reaching for you forced you to close your eyes, and the burning pamphlet fell from your hand.
"I'm so sorry..."
Like an ocean wave rumbling towards the shoreline, the fire spread outwards, the scent of burning flesh rising up from the red sea of bodies.
You sighed, torn between whether you should mourn for the loss of your neighbors or cheer for your existence when you heard slow claps from the building across from you. A boy about your age was casually sitting with his back against the chimney on the roof of the building.
You grimaced, not appreciating his applaud. Afterall, you were just another one of few unlucky witnesses of this crazy mayhem.
Winter 2015, Regnad
Ragnad is located just outside of Seoul, South Korea and filled with convicts who are wanted for theft, drugs, fraud and even murder. There are also other outcasts who are illegal immigrants or have been rejected by society.
There are five sections to Regnad which from the sky looks like a large snowman and is enclosed by high stone walls [map]. People freely move between the five sections: West, East, South, North, Fin.
The West is where the entrance is. Markets, malls, and other forms of "normal" business is dealt with here. There are also small family restaurants and convenient stores which makes people question if Regnad is actually a bad place to be. Now, the heart of the chaos, North, is where all the gangs and dangerous criminals of the world dwell. As one of the most dangerous spots in Regnad, it's practically suicide to enter without a form of protection. The drops of blood spilt here outweigh the pounds of drugs sold.
East and South are the higher part of town. East is home to the wealthy and powerful men of Regnad. Most are bosses of leading illegal business or gangs. The moment you step into North section, you can tell because everything from buildings, pavements, people look different--more smooth and sophisticated. South is the rowdiest and brightest of the four, filled with casinos, bars and other forms of entertainment. It is also where the most illegal trades and business occur.
On the contrary, the Fin, the furthest from the entrance, is where the poor refugees escape to. This area is known to be sleeping quarters for illegal immigrants, debtors or of the town. However, in a way, it is the most peaceful section of the four.
In this town that functions separately from the law, beings familiar as zombies start turning up. Several wannabe survivors decides to work together to walk out alive of this town where even the dead walk. How long will they be able to cooperate with each other? Depends on you.
