Test of Skill III

The Sapphire Club

Chapter 6.

“Kangin, stop, the tests,” mumbled Leeteuk halfheartedly as he pushed the other man’s arm away from his waist, but was also carefully making sure that both their hands were still entwined. He was supposed to be watching the tests just in case something happens, but here was Kangin and his-his seductions!

“Common’ we’re alone!” complained Kangin. He pounced on the older man so that he had Leeteuk trapped between the ground and his chest. “As long as we still have skin contact your powers can still amplify mine,” he said in a libidinous undertone to the man beneath him.

Leeteuk blushed a considerable shade of red. “Kangin,” he tried once more, but was interrupted by a pair of lips. “Kangin. Test.” Think of the children. Think of the children. With his mind made up, Leeteuk said in a firm voice, “Kangin, stop.” There was no response as the other man continued to shower him with kisses. “Stop. Or. Else.”

Kangin let out a dissatisfied grunt, but complied with the leader’s wishes. Everyone knew that when Leeteuk starts using the phrase ‘or else,’ you better do as he says, and if you ignore his warning…Let’s just say nobody ever goes beyond ‘or else.’

The younger man quickly rolled off Leeteuk and sat cross-legged on the ground with a frown. He brought his arms (or one of his arms since he still held onto Leeteuk’s hand) to his chest with a huff. Leeteuk chuckled at his boyfriend’s childish display.

“Don’t be like that,” said Leeteuk while he lightheartedly elbowed the other man on the side, satisfied when the younger man twitched slightly. “We’re in the middle of monitoring the first years. We don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

The other man let out a disinterested snort.

Leeteuk leaned into the other man and sighed. He lazily ran his fingers through the soft tresses of Kangin’s hair. “I’m sorry,” Leeteuk mumbled, and placed a chaste kiss on Kangin’s forehead, and smiled when the other man brought his face up to return the kiss. “I’ll make it up for you later,” smiled Leeteuk as he resumed his spot on the ground beside Kangin. They lapsed into a comfortable silence as they watched the first years test.

“Where did you send Siwon and Sungmin again,” asked Kangin a few moments later. He was still sulking, but no longer angry from Leeteuk’s rejection.

“I sent them on a mission to find information.”

“Right, we still need to establish that.”

“This is getting boring,” said Heechul. “When is this going to end?”

“Maybe we should postpone the match,” asked Hankyung. He looked down at his watch noting that it was already half past six. “The first years has been exerting themselves since my match started around four.”

“True,” mumbled Shindong. His excitement was also dying down. He turned to Yesung and asked the older whether or not the match will be ending soon since the first years still had yet to do the final test.

“This one is going to take a while,” said Yesung confidently as he glanced down at his leather-gloved hands. He brought up his right hand for Shindong to see plainly. “This match is going to end in a stalemate.”

~*~*~

Kyuhyun let out a string of curses as he dived into the ground to avoid another streak of blue lightning. I can’t handle another minute of this, he mentally groaned. He pushed himself up with his arms which were starting to feel like jelly from the work out. I really need to increase my stamina. The telekinetic boy brought up a hand and mentally shoved an Eunhyuk clone to a tree. He sighed in relief when a metallic shield flew in between an angry bolt of lightning and his body. He gestured a ‘thank you’ to Kibum.

And that’s how it went when they first started assaulting the clones. Kyuhyun would attack and Kibum with shield him or Kibum would attack and Kyuhyun would direct the lightning away from the technopath. The clones weren’t doing any physical damage to the boys since all they did was regroup and taunt the first years.  It felt as if they were going at it for hours. The sun has dimmed significantly from when they first entered the clearing. Specks of light orange could be scene infecting the former light blue sky.

Kyuhyun regarded the area to count the number of Eunhyuk clones left, and immediately grinned. Four! We can do this! He glanced over at Kibum who also reached the same thought as he did.

~*~*~

Ryeowook looked calculatingly at the scene and counted down the seconds in his head. Three…Two…One. At the last second, the Eunhyuk clones multiplied into fourteen. He shot Henry a knowing look and the other boy nodded in return.

Ryeowook walked over to the fray, and surveyed the Eunhyuk clones. He smiled smugly when a few of them backed up a few steps. This will be easier than I thought.

He looked over to where Kibum and Kyuhyun stood who were both eyeing him curiously – wondering why the other boy suddenly stepped up. Ryeowook just grinned and turned back to the clones, leaving the pair even more confused. “I’ll make a proposition with you all,” he said slowly to the cluster of clones. The corners of the healer’s mouth were slightly turned up into a faint smile. “Tell us who the real one is, and I promise you this won’t end messily.”

“As if, you little brat,” scoffed one of the more courageous clones.

“Kyuhyun, Kibum, please stay back,” started Ryeowook with a smile on his face. “I’ll handle it from here.” Kyuhyun and Kibum complied, slightly unnerved by the healer’s odd behavior.

The courageous clone couldn’t help but feel irritated by the healer’s attitude. “The boy can’t do anything alone,” he muttered while he took a step forward – step closer in the healer’s direction – much to the surprise of his teammates.

~*~*~

“Yo,” greeted Henry with a small wave of his hand as he reached Donghae’s post. He took one final glance at Ryeowook’s confrontation with the clones before he sat himself on the ground -- seated right in front of the electrokinetic boy.

“You’re not going to help your friend?” The other boy asked as he cocked his head to the side. He was puzzled as to why his ‘enemy’ would just laze on the floor. “Don’t even try attacking me.” He added as a warning to the boy on the ground.

“I wouldn’t dare,” grinned Henry. He shifted his body so that he was lying back down on the grass and had clear view of the darkening sky above him. He brought his hand up as if to reach for one of the clouds in the sky. “Don’t you think the sky looks peaceful even though the light it gives is dimming?”

Donghae eyed him cautiously. He kept his gaze on the boy just in case he comes up with a sneak attack. “Yes. I especially prefer the night.”

“Oh?”

Donghae remained quiet for a moment as if recalling a lost piece of memory. He smiled fondly before answering, “My lightning illuminates the night. Someone once told me my power was like a ray of light in a world full of darkness.”

Henry propped himself up on his elbows to look at the boy. Donghae wasn’t looking at him, he was looking beyond him with a smile so warm. Henry felt like he was intruding on a private moment but couldn’t help but smile himself. “That person’s very special to you, huh?”

Donghae just nodded in reply, and then remembered where he was and what he was supposed to be doing. “Ya! Don’t think you can attack me! I’m not letting my guard down, you got that? ” Donghae jokingly yelled.

“I wouldn’t dare.”

~*~*~

“What are you planning,” sneered the Eunhyuk clone once he a few feet closer to the healer ignoring the protests by his fellow clones to stay away. He grabbed the shorter boy by the collar, and pulled him up a few feet so that they were looking at each other eye to eye.

“Why, I didn’t think you would daringly grab me,” said Ryeowook undaunted by the Eunhyuk’s clone blatant threat. “I thought you would be too afraid to get close to me.”

“Ryeowook!”

“Don’t worry,” Ryeowook reassured his two friends who were watching with worry from the sidelines. He watched the clone carefully noting the clenching of clone’s fists or the way the clone tightened his jaw. He’s angry, thought Ryeowook before he drawled his next sentence slowly. “I’ve got this under control.”

That last statement was the last straw for the Eunhyuk clone. The Healer’s smug posture and manner were irritating him beyond his control. The clone drew his fist back and shot it with force to hit the Healer squarely on the jaw.

“Heh, someone is riled up.” Ryeowook commented. He brought his hand up to his lip to wipe off the splatter of blood forming where his lip has been split. He looked down to observe the small droplets of blood on his fingertips. “You actually broke skin,” he mumbled not in horror but in amusement.

“I actually wanted to test out this theory,” continued Ryeowook as he looked at the Eunhyuk clone that was glaring at him in contempt. “Involving my talent.” He brought two fingers together to flick the small droplet of blood in the clone’s direction.

~*~*~

“What the hell,” sputtered Yesung, his mouth dropping down in shock. He just allowed himself to be punched? Yesung took pride in his ability to see the future accurately, but this wasn’t the vision he saw. The dark-skinned man was confident a few moments ago that the healer would use his talent well before he would get punched. What’s going on?

“I wonder what’s going through Ryeowook’s head,” said Kyuhyun in a whisper. He wanted to rush in to help his friend when he got punched but stayed in his spot. Ryeowook subliminally gave Kibum and him specific instructions when they exited the scene to join the Sapphire Club members.

Kibum hummed in agreement. His fingers were shifting a small clear tube the size of a quarter around his fingers. The contents of the tube had been emptied. His fingers softly hovered to the top of the tube where a small button was placed. Kibum silently contemplated their luckiness of having Ryeowook as an ally.

~*~*~

“Aren’t you going to check on your friend,” asked Donghae once the initial shock washed away from the Eunhyuk clone’s daring, but also the lack of fight from the other boy.

“Ryeowook is fine.” Henry said as he pushed himself off the grassy floor and walked closer to the upperclassman. His mouth was upturned slightly into a sly smile. “You’re not going to attack him are you?” Henry feigned seriousness, pursing his lips into a taut line.

“He didn’t initiate the attack,” replied Donghae. “He didn’t do anything at all…”

~*~*~

“What the,” cursed the clone as the crimson liquid droplets landed on his arm. He wiped the drops of with his right hand, successfully smearing of the blood. The clone was baffled – absolutely nothing happened.  He raised his attention back to healer who was now wearing the same stupid grin.

“Ah, nothing happened.” Ryeowook said flippantly. He brought his blood smeared fingers down to his shirt to wipe of the blood.  He performed the action as slow as possible and so nonchalantly as if there wasn’t an angered clone standing a few feet away from him. Ryeowook glanced down at his watch discreetly waiting for the moment the second hand would reach its full circle. “I really thought something would have happened.”

“You have got to be kidding me,” sneered the clone. “Hey, where are you running off to, brat?!”

The boy in question had his back turned to the clone and was walking away to the other direction. Ryeowook didn’t turn around, but answered, “Back to the drawing board.” Ryeowook only moved a few steps before he heard the sound of crunching grass. The Eunhyuk clone was charging at him.

The Eunhyuk clone had his fist raised once more and was almost toe to toe with the healer before he felt an invisible wall in between him and the other boy. The clone’s eyes darted back and forth until he saw through his peripherals that the telekinetic first year had his hand up.

Ryeowook walked closer to the clone, filling up the space between them till they were almost nose to nose. The boy didn’t flinch at all, knowing that Kyuhyun has got the clone pinned. He ignored the profanities the clone was spouting. He smirked up at the clone, “It was nice knowing you, but we’ll take our victory now.”

“What are you talk—“The clone didn’t have time to question before he felt something tingling in his skin. He glanced down to his left forearm and noticed that the blood he has smeared off moments ago left a small portion of skin – the size of a penny -- dyed red. But what shocked the clone even more is that there was movement in the small red patch like miniature ants moving up and down.

“Goodbye.” Ryeowook smiled to the clone. He made a short hand gesture to Kyuhyun and Kibum before he went walking back to where the other 13 clones stood watching the scene in dread. All of the clones present were also looking at their left forearms. All except one. “Gotcha,” mumbled Ryeowook.

The healer didn’t apprehend the real Eunhyuk. He took his time walking back to the scene. He glanced down at his black watch once again taking note of the time. 3…2…1. Ryeowook was not shocked to see that once the 13 clones dissipated from view another set of then was created.

The healer looked to the side were the other Sapphire Club members stood and was amused with the unbelievable shock painted on their faces. Ryeowook then turn his head to where Henry and the other section guard stood. He observed the section guard’s facial expression. The upperclassman’s face morphed from bewilderment to shocked understanding. The upperclassman brought his hand up preparing to protect the clones.

Ryeowook grinned once more.

~*~*~

“You’re going to attack now aren’t you,” asked Henry – there was a hint of amusement in his tone.

“Yes,” said Donghae. He closed his eyes as sparks began forming in torrents of illuminated sparks danced up and down his right and left arms. He turned his head at Henry’s direction. “Aren’t you going to stop me?” He asked the boy. He brought up his left arm and pointed it at Henry, giving out the warning that he shouldn’t do anything of that sort.

“I won’t stop you from firing those lightning of yours.”

Donghae regarded the boy quietly before proceeding in his concentration. He left his left arm facing Henry just in case the boy tried something funny. The electrokinetic boy concentrated. He could fill the heat in currents, travelling up and down his entire body. He focused on the lightning travelling in his body; he pushes the charge mentally towards his right hand, compressing them so it will come out as a clean bolt.  The sparks of lightning lit around Donghae’s hand wanting to escape.

Henry observes the other boy, using his talent to learn the mechanics of the upperclassman’s talent. He watched the other carefully. Henry wished that he had practiced his talents earlier. In just a day, he learned new things about his powers that he hasn’t known he could do – if only he had focused on expanding his talent.  No need to cry over spilt milk, Henry though bitterly. The cackling of lightning brought Henry back to the situation at hand. He needed to concentrate so that they can finish this test.

A small spark of lightning ran askew from Donghae’s hold on his electrokinesis. This is it! Henry thought before he went on a full-out run to charge the upperclassman head first. The movement was too abrupt for Donghae. He tried to concentrate a small amount of lightning on his left hand while still maintaining the one on his right, but all concentration and focus was lost when he was tackled recklessly into the ground. The electricity he gathered on both of his hands flew in a bolt to the sky.

~*~*~

Two enlarged bolts of electricity shot angrily into the sky. All present in the field held their breath as they looked toward the skies. There was nothing out of the blue from the navy-colored sky. Then there was a collective gasp as the large group noticed it. Hovering meters above the ground was an azure-colored orb. A myriad of electricity ran all around the orb dangerously. Some of the streaks would clash causing flashes and sparks to rain downward.

“! Everyone move out of the way,” ordered Heechul taking command. It was still many miles away, but the shower of lightning was coming down quickly. He looked up once more to notice the orb has distorted and a rumble of thunder echoed out of it. “Move your asses!”

The others didn’t need to be told twice as they quickly clamored out of their stupor and ran to find cover. The whole place was in chaos. Hangeng, Heechul, Zhou Mi and Shindong were trying to herd everyone to safety. Henry grabbed Donghae and headed to the direction of where Kyuhyun, Kibum, and Yesung stood. Yesung remained by the technopath’s side to protect his love interest. While the pair was readying themselves so they can use their talent in case of emergency.

The shower of electricity was raining down on them in huge flocks. The sizzling and buzzing of the lightning could be heard warning them of the close proximity. Ryeowook stayed rooted in his spot not panicking like the others.  He took everything in stride as he watched the lightning beckoning closer to every inch of the field. It was creeping closer and then morphed to a bright flash of light that engulfed the entire field.

~*~*~

“That was dangerous.” Leeteuk sighed as he wiped the sweat dripping down the side of his face. He and Kangin immediately rushed into action to save their teammates once the shower of lightning began. He slumped against Kangin in exhaustion. He had been using his ability for almost two and half hours straight and had to push his limits to eliminate the threat.

Kangin just nodded his head in agreement. He too was as tired as Leeteuk was. He paced back and forth in their small area. That was a very close call. “Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea giving Donghae a role as a section guard. He still lacks control over his powers.” That was a big understatement, Kangin thought. Lightning of that caliber could have seriously hospitalized someone.

“Donghae needed this opportunity for that very reason, too,” said Leeteuk seriously. “He was doing so well at it, too.”

“There is no denying his control is lacking, though.”

“Looks like we’ll need to pay more attention for both sides’ sake,” said Leeteuk with a pointed look at Kangin. His look conveying the message ‘so-don’t-try-what-you-did-earlier-we-need-to-concentrate.’ Leeteuk then resumed watching the test area. “The second test is over.”

Kangin looked to the field to see what the older man was talking about, and noticed only one Eunhyuk stood in the field. Leeteuk knew better than to exceed his limitations by protecting all of the clones, especially since there was still the case of the first years and s.

“At least we didn’t give them a freebee to the last test,” replied Kangin.

~*~*~

When the flash of light finally cleared, everyone moved back to the middle of the field either to find any damages or injuries on anyone’s person or to see for themselves that they had indeed avoided possible mutilation or dare they say it, death.

Henry immediately moved into action when he noticed there was a lone Eunhyuk standing in the field and making use of everyone’s distraction in relief. He quickly grabbed hold of the other man’s arm, and yelled proudly, “Test completed!”

Eunhyuk didn’t struggle and ultimately didn’t car that he was ‘captured.’ He was just relieved that he didn’t get hurt in the crossfire and that the test was finally done and over with and he can reward himself with must needed rest from the ‘excitement’ of the day. He groaned mentally when he remembered that he still had to complete his homework.

Kyuhyun, Kibum, and Ryeowook caught up with Henry and cheered for their success. Henry then turned to Ryeowook and complimented the boy’s quick thinking and planning skills. Ryeowook just laughed sheepishly before turning to the real Eunhyuk and said, “Good game.” Eunhyuk in turn thanked the man and followed up with an apology for some of his clones’ behavior towards them.

“My clones tend to emulate a single emotion,” he explained to the quartet in a sincere tone of apology. “I hope you don’t take what they say seriously.”

“I’m sorry for almost hurting everyone,” cried Donghae when he also reached the five, his bottom lip was protruding and trembling in the form of a pout. He bowed his head lowly when everyone regrouped together.

“Wait, did I hear this was planned,” interrupted Heechul looking displeased.

“About that,” mumbled Henry. He laughed sheepishly when he found himself under the scrutiny of everyone present, and cowered slightly when Heechul glowered at him. His eyes darted to Kyuhyun, then Kibum, and lastly Ryeowook hoping they would aid him. The three quirked their eyebrows at the boy. You shouldn’t have mentioned anything about a plan, was what the combined look of the three was saying. Knowing that the trio won’t come to his rescue, he tried to change the subject. “So…what’s the last test?”

The others weren’t impressed with the boy’s pathetic attempt at directing their attention. But Shindong finally spoke up when he noticed they weren’t getting an explanation any time soon. They might as well move one with the last section since the sky has already turned dark, and he was pretty sure everyone wanted to return to the comfort of their own beds.

“There won’t be any more fighting,” said Shindong much to the relief of everyone and not just the first years. The others couldn’t handle anymore troubles that come up with that. “It will be much more difficult in the dark, but--”

Ryeowook decided to speak up at that moment. “Does it have something to do with President and Vice-President?” Shindong remained quiet, but nodded; the first year was pretty sharp. Ryeowook continued, “Or the fact that they’re hidden over there?” He pointed at a random area near the end of the field, a hint of a smirk appeared on the healer’s face. By the shock on the upperclassmen’s faces, Ryeowook hit the bullseye.

“How did you know,” demanded Heechul. That’s exactly what the last test’s end result was all about, but they weren’t even able to get to the dynamics of the test.

“What are you talking about,” asked Kibum, confused. He also noticed the perplexity shine in Kyuhyun’s facial expression; Kibum guessed that Kyuhyun wasn’t aware by that fact either.

“Explain,” ordered Yesung. Things weren’t adding up. How come he didn’t foresee this happening?

Henry actually laughed out loud causing him to return under the scrutinizing gaze of everyone present. “Ryeowook, you’re just too good,” he said, wiping imaginary tears from his face. He was hysterical now; maybe it’s the exhaustion, thought the boy.  “Don’t leave them in suspense.”

Ryeowook remained silent contemplating what he should say. He was saved some time to explain his plan when Leeteuk and Kangin emerged out of nowhere. The healer gathered that Zhou Mi, who just pocketed his phone, called them while everyone was distracted.

“Damn, I wanted to mess with their heads,” complained Kangin.

Leeteuk just patted Kangin on the shoulder and mumbled words that sounded like, “be nice.” He then turned toward the first years and gave them a gentle smile. “I’d like to know how you discovered us so quickly, too.”

Ryeowook looked up at the expectant gaze of their club president. “I’ve known since the beginning, or I had my suspicions.” Ryeowook explained that it first started when he noticed the reoccurring patterns of the trees on the way to the field, and then mentioned that during their first test the ‘safety line’ was moving away from Kibum. Kibum agreed with that statement. Now that it was voiced out loud, he remembered his confusion when he thought he was mere inches away from the line but when he actually looked it was yards.

Leeteuk glared at Kangin for making things much more difficult for the first years, and Heechul chimed in saying that Kangin had no creativity.

Kangin held up his hands in defense. “Hey, I didn’t know he would catch on the trees. Aren’t trees supposed to look the same?” Kangin rolled his eyes when Heechul muttered again that he had no sense in creativity. “As for the safety line, I thought that it would end rather quickly if he crossed it. We were supposed to observe their powers, right?”

Hangeng looked up at that with an expression of hurt. “You didn’t think I could have handled that situation?”

“Look what you did.” Heechul said to Kangin with a glare. “You hurt his feelings.” He gave Hangeng a hug before sending another deadly glare at Kangin’s direction.

Ryeowook decided whether or not he should continue speaking, but was urged on by Leeteuk. “It’s also thanks to Henry. He was the one who confirmed my suspicions. I asked him to help me detect what exactly your talents are.” The healer motioned towards Donghae and Eunhyuk. “He told me that he couldn’t distinguish it fully because there was talent radiating everywhere.”

“I assumed it was because of all the clones, but Ryeowook told me otherwise,” Henry piped up.

“That doesn’t explain how you knew where Leeteuk and Kangin were located,” asked Shindong, his curiosity rising.

“This is the part of the story where I hope you won’t kill me,” joked Ryeowook. “I confirmed my suspicions during the second test.”

“Donghae’s mishap,” said Zhou Mi out loud when realization dawned on him. The others soon came to the same conclusion. Donghae flushed embarrassed by the recollection of his loss of control.

“What do you mean,” asked Kyuhyun confused. What did the lightning shower have to do with finding out the whereabouts of the two leaders? “I thought we were doing it to succeed the second test.”

“You’re right,” mentioned Henry. “Though, that wasn’t the real goal behind Ryeowook’s plan. It was more like a positive side effect.” Henry lowered his head when he noticed what he said could be taken as an insult to the 2nd test section guards. He looked over at them and sent them an apologetic smile.

Ryeowook explained to them that he noticed some weaknesses in the section guards’ talents. He explained that he knew Donghae was still working on his power’s control when the others hastily retreated from the field when it was time for the 2nd test. “Plus, I noticed that he only fired one at a time, so I assumed that he wasn’t accustomed to firing more than once.”

“That explains why you told Kibum and me to attack the clones in alternates?”

Ryeowook nodded. “I also had to test out the theory I had on Eunhyuk ssi’s talent.” He relayed how he noticed that the man seemed to create only ten clones at a time and that was what puzzled him the most. He was able to come to the conclusion that Eunhyuk could only create clones in sets in a certain amount of time. “Henry’s talent was also a great help in sorting out my theories which by the way is developing quickly.”

Henry thanked Ryeowook for the compliment. He then spoke up to the group deciding he should also take part in the explanation. “I’ve got admit though the whole ordeal of you losing control was our fault,” Henry said to Donghae. “We knew that President had the ability to cancel someone’s talent, and thought that if there was a larger threat he’d have to use his talent to save everyone. “

“Everything went according to plan. We had absolute trust in your ability to cancel the lightning,” said Ryeowook quickly. He didn’t want others to think that they were intending others to get hurt in the process. “In the chaos your illusion momentarily faded, and I was able to see you two at that moment.”

“Wait,” said Eunhyuk. “I want to know what happened to that one set of clones. I know you guys did something but we—I didn’t understand what exactly that was.” Eunhyuk had a hard time putting what he wanted to say into words.

“I can explain that,” said Kibum as everyone turned to face him. “Before we left the scene, Ryeowook asked me for my nanorobots.” Noticing the confused expressions he explained it was an invention he was currently conducting tests on. He was discussing the subject with Ryeowook a few days back because he felt as if the invention would work well with his talent. He immediately added that it doesn’t cause harm to humans, it was just an invention used to keep track of particles to detect and make it known to an individual of any viruses, infection, or things of that sort.

“I mixed the robots with my blood so that it wouldn’t look suspicious,” said Ryeowook. “I wasn’t kidding when I said that I had a theory with my own talent.” Ryeowook didn’t divulge in an explanation for what he meant by his statement. “The way the clones acted towards me after the first clone I attacked implied that they knew what was going on in their ‘set,’ so to say. That’s what the bots were for to see if that theory was correct; that whatever happened to one clone the other clones would know through their own body, right? It was just a guess I made. It wouldn’t have really affected the plan if it wasn’t true.”

“But it was,” replied Eunhyuk.

~*~*~

After asking all the questions they wanted to know, the group decided to head back to the school before it was too dark to make it back. Much to the surprise of Kyuhyun and Henry, the way back to school took less than half the time it took them to head to the forest clearing.

“Remember we were under Kangin ssi’s illusion from the beginning,” reminded Ryeowook with an exasperated tone.

They all gathered outside the male dormitory where they said their goodbyes to each other and made their separate ways to the respective floors for meant for specific years. Leeteuk told the first years to keep an eye out on the bulletin boards because he will be posting up a notice for the next meeting. They needed to discuss the first years’ standings and outside in public a public area was not a good place to discuss it.

~*~*~

“Goodnight, good looking!” Yesung called out to the technopath who was torn between ignoring the older completely or to politely wave back. The technopath chose the latter and waved stiffly at Yesung.

When their underclassmen were out of sight, probably resting comfortably in their rooms; the fifth years Leeteuk, Heechul, Hangeng, and Yesung, decided to meet up in Leeteuk and Heechul’s shared dorm room to further discuss the events of the day.

“So, what do you think of the first years,” asked Leeteuk who sat on the edge of the bed nearest to the window.

“They’re really skilled,” replied Hangeng who took to leaning on the back of a desk chair where Heechul sat. “I think they would make a good addition to the team.”

“Especially Kibum,” supplied Yesung as he munched on a granola bar. “He was excellent today, don’t you think?”

“The four of them are plenty powerful,” agreed Leeteuk.

“That kid,” said Heechul as he brushed a lock of his hair away from his face. “The one who healed Hannie, he’s a genius.” Heechul was not one to compliment a person easily so the fact that Heechul took a liking to the boy was a good sign.

Or maybe not, thought Leeteuk with a sigh. That meant Heechul will be influencing the kid in the future. Poor, poor kid. Leeteuk’s though was interrupted when he felt a pillow slam onto his face. He stayed still shocked before he turned to Heechul who was looking at his nails innocently. “Heechul!”

“Genius.” Yesung repeated so low that it was almost inaudible. He was still reeling in shock that he was bested by a first year – he was deceived by a first year! This was the first time the future took him by surprise. Yesung smiled wryly at that.

A/N:

First of all, I wanted to apologize for updating late!! I’m sorry; I was caught up in school work for the last week! I hope you enjoyed this chapter though!

Now back to the chapter, ahaha, that Kangin and Leeteuk one in the beginning was random. I just felt like there wasn’t enough lovin’ in this six-chapters-so-far-story since the main four have other things in their minds at the moment. ;D

But, I felt as if Ryeowook’s ‘plan’ was anticlimactic since last chapter made it look as if he will do something uberly cool…But what’s done is done. I wanted to mention that Yesung just has an interest in Ryeowook because he can’t understand the healer. It’s sort of like an interest a child has in a new complex toy? Ahh, that was a bad simile. X)

I wasn’t able to disclose any info on Siwon’s talent but that will definitely be explained next chapter! :DD

Thank you for reading,

Chapter 9: I knew it from the start! I knew Kyuhyun and Kibum teams will be opposed each other ^^ As for Ryeowook, I didn't know he got a serious mission with Heechul, I thought it gonna be a task as usual....Henry and Donghae, good to hear they're practicing to improve some skills to attack and defend...You write this story very well...I'm in the flow when read it~~ can't wait for the next chapter!!!

Chapter 7: Kibum and Sungmin... well I can already see this going swimmingly (lots and lots of sarcasm). I love Eunhae omg, they're so funny haha :D I find Ryeowook interested, I'm looking forward to learning more about him and his past, hrm. Looking forward to your next chapter :>
