Our Thirtieth Anniversary

A Hundred Memories

A/N: I actually made the poster 'cause I figured out how too. Haha. Don't be too harsh on me.  Anyway, here's the first chapter. I took me a few days to write it, so forgive me if there are any mistakes, I was trying to get it out in a reasonable time.Thank you to all my subscribers and commenters! You guys really movitivate me. :3 Hopefully, this is too your liking.  :)

"Kai..." Kai was being shaken from his slumber and his husband's sweet voice was drilling into his skull. "Wake up, please." Sehun crooned, rubbing Kai's arm. "Kai." Sehun huffed impatiently. Kai groaned and rolled away from the other. "Fine." Sehun pouted getting off the bed and going into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. Kai heard the sink running and he sat up. Digging the heels of his palms into his eye sockets, he yawned and groaned as his body sputtered with the will to continue on. At fifty years old Kai was out of shape and couldn't be blamed for it; it was one of the many perks of aging.

Sehun stepped out of the bathroom his toothbrush to his teeth, scrubbing in hygienic circles. "I'm so old!" Sehun whined through the toothbrush effectively making Kai snort.

"Don't I know it." Sehun pouted taking the brush away from his teeth.

"You're mean." The younger whined.

"Really, 'cause I thought I was Kai?" Sehun stomped back into the bathroom, spitting out the toothpaste and rinsing off his toothbrush. He placed the cleaning utensil back into its holder and walked out of the bathroom. "Hey, babe?!" Kai called from-what Sehun assumed to be-the kitchen.

"Yeah?" He answered as he neared the kitchen.

"You Look beautiful today." Kai hummed, making Sehun blush a dusty pink before looking away. Kai leaned against the kitchen counter with a coffee mug in his hand.

"Thank you." Sehun mumbled cutely before moving past Kai to get to the freezer.

"Waffles again?" Sehun turned to him, his expression conveying his surprised reaction towards his husband's question.

"How'd you know?" Kai smiled warmly and gave a reply so smooth and obvious that Sehun blushed again.

"Well, you're my best friend, aren't you? And everybody knows, you know everything about your best friend." Sehun looked back in the freezer to hide his ever-warming cheeks.

"Or you've lived with me so long that you've picked up on my habits." The younger retorted.

"Maybe a little of both." Kai moved off of the counter and stealthily made his way to Sehun, wrapping his arm around the latter's waist. The smaller jumped a little at the unexpected contact. He leaned back into the warmth ever-so-slightly, hoping the other didn't feel it.

"I-I, um, h-have the day p-planned out for us." Sehun stuttered. Kai hummed in response. "And I should probably get dressed so we can go." Sehun wiggled to try and get out of Kai's grip, but the elder kept his arms secure and locked onto his prey.

"Relax." Kai crooned next to Sehun's ear, making the latter shiver. "I just wanted to tell you I loved you." Sehun felt Kai's smile against his ear and he couldn't help, but smile back.

"I love you too." The youngest of the couple grumbled, but no longer made fussy attempts to free himself of the strong grasp around his waist. "Can I get dressed now?" Sehun whined, making a very manly Kai shrug.

"Do I get to watch?" Kai asked simply making Sehun turn a tomato red.

"No." Kai chuckled.

"I didn't think so." Releasing his grip, Sehun scurried away. "No waffles, then?" Kai laughed. He shut the freezer that Sehun had left open in his haste to escape the love Kai had shown. Sehun wasn't one for physical displays of affection. Every now and again, however, he would plant a small kiss on husband's of thirty years cheek. On their anniversary Sehun would create an elaborately planned day that would put romantic movies to shame. Kai was sure, this year would be no exception. If the latter was lucky, he could get Sehun to hold his hand.

Picking up his coffee off the counter, Kai sat down at the dining room table. He cleared his throat and took another sip of the warm liquid. Humming in satisfaction he let his head lull back and closed his eyes. "I'm so tired." He groaned.

"Kai!" The addressed heard Sehun call him from upstairs.

"Yeah, babe?!" He called back.

"You need to get ready, yeobo!" Kai grumbled and stood up reluctantly trudging up the stairs, down the hall, and finally, into his room.

"You're such a slave driver." Kai laughed and Sehun gave the prettiest smile Kai had ever had the pleasure of resting his eyes upon.

"Without me you'd never get anything done, though." Sehun pursed his lips and Kai chuckled.

"One of the many reasons why I married you." Kai hummed happily, making Sehun blush a faint, dusty pink color. Kai walked to his dresser pulling out clothes and going into their bathroom to change.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
"Okay, so what's first on your list of activities for today." Kai looked over to the smaller who was driving them to their first destination on Sehun's anniversary list of activities.

"Can't tell you that." Sehun was so cute and Kai found it hard to resist kissing the other.

"Why not?" Despite the embarrassingly gooey feeling swarming in his tummy, Kai managed to put on a halfway decent pout. Sehun giggled sending shivers up and down Kai's spine. Never in all of the years he had lived would have ever thought somebody could make him feel this way up until the day he met his long time running husband.

"Because, Jonginnie, it's a surprise." Kai grinned when Sehun used his real name instead of his nickname. Just by the use of his name, Sehun could make him feel like a lovesick teenager again, spooling in the feeling of butterflies that seemed to have made a nest in his stomach, though this love between them had not always been as recognizable as it was now.

"But..." Sehun shook his head to Kai's silent plead and gave a sideways glance. "You ." Kai huffed.

"Yeah, okay, whatever." His baby muttered, still a small smile lighting up his face. As they neared their destination, Kai caught a glimpse and his age must have turned back about forty-three years.

"You're taking me to the beach?!" Kai was overwhelmed with excitement. There was no other place he loved more than the beach, and Sehun must have taken it to heart when he told him a few weeks ago. Kai didn't know why it had taken him so long to inform the other of his love for the most romantic place on Earth, but it did. He supposed the topic had never come up in all their thirty years of marriage, or, Kai had just forgotten to mention it; he did that a lot so he didn't doubt it.

"Mhm." Sehun's grin looked as if it could break his face. "And we got a cam-" Sehun was cut off by Kai's squeal of excitement.

"Wow, that was so unmanly." Kai blinked a few times and Sehun giggled.

"That's okay, nobody else was here to hear it and your secret's safe with me." Kai smiled looking at the way Sehun's smile brightened his beautiful face. The way his eyes would sparkle with child-like delight every time he smiled.

"Good." Kai turned his attention to looking outside of Sehun's window and out to the white wonder. "It's so beautiful."

"Thank you." Sehun giggled.

"Not you, the beach." Sehun laughed and Kai beamed.

"I know."

"You're beautiful too, though!" Kai quickly add after what he had taken as a disappointed response from Sehun.

"I know, I know. Don't worry, I was only kidding before." Kai sighed in relief.

"I knew that." He chuckled. Sehun made a small noise of amusement and the turn signal indicating a left turn. Slowing, he waited for his chance to cross the street. Looking left, looking right, Sehun turned and drove into the parking lot for "White Sanded Beach." Parking the small car, Sehun turned to Kai, the word 'serious' written all over his face.

"Now, when I unlock the door don't jump out and run off and get yourself lost." Kai pushed Sehun playfully and they laughed.

"Nobody could get lost with your dog-like tracking skills on their tail." Kai laughed. "No pun intended." Sehun pushed open the door and got out followed by a Kai who shut his own door and ran to catch up to the younger. "Dog...tail...get it?!" Kai tried to explain his source of his amusement to his husband, but the latter seemed to be ignoring his attempts. "Fine." He huffed, but the moment they hit the sand his childish perturbance dissipated. "Sehun, c'mon!" Taking his husband by the hand he ran further in the sand surrounding the water.

"Kai!" Sehun yelped as he was dragged onto the sand. Kai was laughing, releasing his hand and spinning. "Careful, don't fall you might break a hip!" Sehun face scrunched up in concern. Kai threw himself forward and took hold of his lover.

"As long as you stay here until the ambulance arrives I don't mind breaking a hip." Sehun rolled his eyes and gave a small laugh.

"Yeah, okay." He scoffed. Kai leaned in and kissed his forehead, making his cheeks feel like they were on fire. "Kai..." the younger trailed off.

"Take a walk with me on the edge of the beach? It's so early not many people are here to splash us and what not. It'll be really romantic!" Sehun giggled lightly, giving in and nodding. "Yes!" Kai could be such a child.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
"I'm hungry." Kai groaned as they made their way back to their car.

"I know. That's why we're leaving, remember?" Sehun laughed. Kai hummed. Getting into the car, they buckled themselves and Sehun pulled out of the spot.

"Where are we going to eat?" Sehun clicked his tongue and shook his head. "That one's a surprise too?" Sehun nodded. "Fine." Kai huffed, for what seemed like the umpteenth time this morning. They had spent two romantic hours at the beach and it was now 11:30 a.m. They were going to get something to eat, and if Kai knew Sehun at all it would be something romantic.

"Now, yeobo, don't be too overwrought." Sehun took his eyes off the road to throw him a glance.

"Shut up." Kai cheeks puffed out cutely and Sehun giggled.

"This happens every anniversary; you'd think you'd be used to it by now." Kai smiled and Sehun laughed.

"I don't know what, in a million years, would ever give you that idea." They laughed and Sehun stopped at the stop sign at the end of the winding road. "Can you at least give me a hint?" Kai pleaded.

"Like what?"

"What type of food does it have there?"

"Nope." Kai pouted.

"What's it smell like inside?"

"Food." Sehun deadpanned.

"Okay...what's smell like outside?"

"Shut up."

"Okay." Kai sighed. Defeated, he watched the trees pass quickly outside the window. "You know I just-"

"I'm not gonna tell you." Sehun cut the elder off, knowing what he was gonna say. Kai pouted and wiggled in his seat. Again, Kai turned his vision outward. He sighed loudly. Then he sighed loudly, again, and again. "Five more minutes and you'll know. Now, stop acting like a child." Kai straightened.

"You're no fun, Sehunnie." Kai crooned his name mockingly. Sehun threw him a glance.

"I love you." Sehun murmured, keeping his eyes on the road. Kai leaned over and pressed his lips to his husband's cheek making him blush. Sehun couldn't believe the amount of words and feelings that could be put into one measly kiss on the cheek. "Okay, close your eyes." Sehun hummed, and Kai did as he was told. A few minutes and smacks on the arm for trying to peek later, they were parked and Kai was being told he was allowed to open his eyes. Kai frowned.

"McDonald's?" Kai's voice sounded shocked and unbelieving. Since when did his Sehunnie pick an unromantic place to eat on their anniversary.

"Mhm." Sehun nodded as he got out the car. "C'mon, you've made me hungry." Kai raised an eyebrow and ran to catch up with his husband.

"How did I make you hungry?"

"It's contagious." Sehun laughed.

"Oh my god, is that how I look when I run?!" Kai shrieked, looking at his reflection in the window. Sehun laughed.

"Yes, it is." Sehun shook his head.

"I think I have your disease, Sehunnie!" Kai stopped in front of the window and rubbed at his face. Sehun's eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

"What're you talking about?"

"I-I'm...so...old!" Sehun laughed and Kai looked petrified.

"C'mon, Kai-ah. We'll get you that fish sandwich you love so much." Sehun cooed.

"Okay." Kai mumbled, slouching pitifully. Walking into the fast-food restaurant they moved straight to the cashier. While Sehun ordered food and the cashier gave rude looks for not even asking the other, Kai looked for spot to sit. Table close to the ground? No. Booth? Nope. Table-way-too-high-for-it's-own-good? Yes. Kai climbed up the table and sat down on the seats watching as Sehun waited for the food. The latter tapped his fingers on the counter and his legs were crossed at the ankles. He craned his neck to see how they were making his food, but to his dismay a wall was obstructing his view. He huffed and looked away. Sure enough, however, the cashier from before returned with a tray in hand.

"Thank you." Sehun pouted and took the tray off of the counter. Kai got off the seat and moved to meet Sehun halfway.

"Here." Kai put out his hands then took the tray from the younger. Hopping up into the seats, the couple sat across from each other.

"I didn't get to see them make it." Sehun sounded broken and Kai reached across the table putting his hand on top of the disheartened old man.

"Don't worry, it's all really bad for you no matter how they cook it." Though it didn't seem to be the case, Kai was honestly putting forth a good effort to try to console the love of his life, and to said love, his words meant the world. Over the years the couple had come to understand each other so much, that even the misspoken words were just what the other needed to hear in order to have their spirits lifted. Of course, this would only be the case between these two; any friends or family members did not fall into this category.

"I suppose you're right, yeobo." Sehun's frown slowly turned into an unsure smile and Kai used his free hand to take out the sandwich. "You really do like fish, don't you?" Kai nodded and took a rather large bite into the unsuspecting victim. The sandwich was open on the side that no hand was there to hold and Sehun laughed as he watched Kai try to compensate for it. "You're so silly." Sehun pulled his hand away and Kai frowned slightly, but took another bite to hide it.

"You like?" Kai inquired as Sehun took a bite of his rice. He hummed in response and took another. "I'm glad you're happy." Kai grinned. "And I don't think McDonald's was such a bad choice, after all."

"Thank you." Sehun talked with his mouth full of rice and Kai laughed.

"I love you."
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
Three activities later, Kai and Sehun were completely exhausted, however, Kai had one place he would like to take Sehun for their anniversary. "Sehunnie, let me drive I have somewhere I wanna take you." Kai explained. Sehun nodded and got into the passenger side. "Okay, close your eyes." Sehun's eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

"Why?"

"Because it's a surprise." Sehun mulled over the idea for a few seconds, then did as he was told, letting his eyelids flutter shut. "Okay." The car began moving and after what seemed like an hour to Sehun, they came to a stop.

"Can I open my eyes now?" Sehun whined.

"Nope. Don't worry, I'm gonna help you walk." Kai chuckled at Sehun's pout and got out of the car. Rounding the vehicle, Kai opened up his husband's door and took him by the hands, leading him. "Okay, up some stairs." Kai swung in front of him and lifted up Sehun’s hands as he walked backwards up the stairs. Slowly, Sehun followed. The scent of fresh water and nature filled the air. Sehun inhaled deeply remembering the scent from somewhere. Pulling Sehun a little bit further, Kai finally came to a stop. "Okay, you can open your eyes, Hunnie." Kai murmured. Sehun's eyes opened slowly and he gasped. The sun was setting and left a beautiful orange and pink swirl in the sky. The lake was clear; and the bridge that they were standing on was a dark brown, and old-looking, but very sturdy. Kai knelt down on one knee pulling out a daisy. He held the flower up and looked into Sehun's tearing eyes.

"Thirty years ago, on this very bridge, you agreed to marry me. Now, on this very bridge, I ask you to marry me, again. Will you-" Sehun got down on his knees and hugged his husband.

"Yes!" Sehun choked out between sops of joy. "Yes, I will!" Kai brought his other knee down so he could rest on his haunches and he put his arms around the other's waist.

"Good." He squeezed tighter on the younger's waist.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
Pulling into their driveway, Kai looked to Sehun. "Today was wonderful. Thank you." Sehun blushed.

"You're welcome." Kai smiled and got out of the car, followed by Sehun. Unlocking the door, Sehun walked in and turned the living room light on via the switch by the front door. "You want something to drink?" Sehun called as he walked into the kitchen to get himself something to drink.

"No, I want sleep!" Kai flopped down on the couch. Sehun laughed and Kai smiled, but he quickly frowned when he heard the screech of his beloved. "Sehunnie, you okay?" He asked sitting up.

"Kai!" The called jumped out of his seat and ran into the kitchen skidding to a halt as he took in the sight before him. A gun was pointed at Sehun, but now the gun had been flung into Kai's view.

"Look you can take whatever you want and we won't call the cops." Kai had his hands up as he tried to reason. There were only two robbers that Kai knew of and one was currently endangering their life while the other stole their fine china.

"You over there." The voice was deep and rough as the robber told Kai to move over to Sehun.

"We've got the china." The second robber piped up. "We should just go now." The robber seemed desperate for an escape.

"I think we should shoot one of 'em to slow 'em down." The robber spoke as if he were talking about shooting fruit on a shooting range.

"No, please, don't." Kai pleaded as Sehun hiccupped nervously. Sehun knew to keep quiet and let Kai do all of the business in a situation like this. But, now, Kai was sounding scared and Sehun's hiccups became more frequent. The robber turned the gun to Sehun and as his finger was pulling back on the trigger Kai himself to the side with all of his might and took the bullet to the chest that was originally meant for Sehun. The robbers ran and Sehun crawled to Kai's bleeding body.

"Oh god, oh god!" Sehun repeated as it became something of a mantra. He stood and ran to the phone sitting on the kitchen counter. He picked it up and dialed the emergency line, 911. "Please, help!" He shouted into the phone. "My husband, he's been shot by robbers in the chest! Please, you gotta help!" Sehun cried. Nodding, he hung up and ran to the oven and took the towel hanging there off of it. He ran back to Kai, whose face was twisted in pain. "It's okay, it's gonna be okay, Jonginnie." He whispered, trying to soothe the elder.

"Just don't leave." Kai coughed and Sehun's tears rolled down his face and splashed onto Kai's.

"I'm not gonna leave, I promise!" Sehun crooned. "I love you, yeobo, I love you!" He cried. Kai began to close his eyes. "No, don't close your eyes! Keep them open, the ambulance is coming, baby!" Kai opened his eyes slowly.

"I-I'm...just so sleepy..." His voice got quieter and his words began to slur. "But, I'll stay awake for you, my dear." Kai smiled a little.

"Good, good. I love you."

"I love you-" Kai coughed hard. "Too, baby."

"Everything’s gonna be okay." Sehun said, more as a reassurance to himself than to Kai.

"Happy thirtieth anniversary, baby." Kai whispered. "You mean m-" he winced. "More to me than anyone else e-ever has. I am and always will be the luckiest man on Earth." Sehun cried louder.

A/N: Wow, this had a lot of mixed feelings. Don't worry, I don't enjoy writing depressing things so this should be the only depressing chapter. Yay! So, anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this and please do read on. :)
