Everything was happening too fast, too quickly for her to even take the time to comprehend anything fully. She whips her head side to side; left to right, raising her gun to another one once she spots him. She pauses, hesitant about pulling the trigger. But all of that changes when he turns towards her, eyes widening in realization when he sees her uniform. Before he can even raise his own weapon, two shot goes off in her ears, and he falls to the ground. His body tumbles onto the dirt below.

She trembles.

She could still hear the echoing of her own fire in her ears and shakily, she tosses her empty gun to the ground, stumbling towards the now dead man. Collapsing onto her knees, her hands run over his body in a desperate attempt to find spare ammo. Sweat drips down the side of her covered head and she breathes in quick gasps. She needs to be quick.

Her fingers suddenly touches warm metal and she rips the spare bullets out in a rush motion. She doesn’t even have the time to feel relief as she shoots up onto her feet, kicking the body over so the face will be covered. She could feel the excess blood on the smooth surface of the bullets.

She doesn’t dare to look at the deadman's face.

“Get your over here Kim!”

A commanding holler from her right and she dashes off into the trashed buildings, her boots stomping heavily. She dodges the motionless bodies that lay in front of her and shoves the stolen ammo into her baggy pockets of her pants. She slides to a stop when she is met with another man.

He stands tall, shoulders stiff as he uses the back of his hand to wipe away the blood splattered onto his face. Although, instead of cleaning his face, the action only dirties his face with oil and smears the redness across his cheek. He gives up and turns around, grabbing large weapon from the men behind him. He hands it to her with a solid look in his eyes.

“I’m trusting you with this piece of . Don’t let it go to waste.”

Her heart is racing from the runnning and she stares at him wide-eyed. She looks down to her new weapon and sees her dirt covered face in it's reflection from the polished metal. Her grip tightens on the large gun and she turns back to the man, nodding. He purses his lips and nods back.

With that, he turns and eyes the many uniformed men in front of him. His voice booms confidently.

“Get out of here alive. Don’t ing die in a place like this.”

Once his last word is said, he reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a small oval like device. Her eyes widen when he puts the top in his mouth. The man smiles bitterly, his eyes shining with something she couldn't name. The gernade is placed right between his slightly yellowed teeth. She doesn’t know how to react to his next words.

“I’ll give you five seconds to run.”

He closes his eyes.

5

She’s getting dragged away from the man by the strong arms of her fellow soldiers. She’s yelling, screaming for the man to stop. Her boots screech against the concrete, the rubber burning while they run.

4

She’s fighting. She’s twists and turns in the grip of the men, kicking her feet wildly as she throws punches at the men. She’s cursing at them to let her go, to release her so she can stop him. The men continue to resist but she still believes there's another way. If only she could get to the commander.

3

She’s crying, feeling her hot tears fall from her eyes. She continues to scream, raw from the arid air around herand the dirt that was shoved into from combat. She howls in agony and they’re almost out of the building.

2

She gives up, turning around. Picking up her feet, she runs forward with her men. They’re screaming too, that their almost out, that they’ll make it. She knows they’ll make it out alive, except for their commander; Leeteuk. The one who she considered her brother, was about to die any second from now. She curses her luck.

1

She looks back over her shoulder, her wet hair whipping against her cheeks.

The building is silent before it explodes into pieces, collapsing right in front of her eyes. It goes down in flames and another round of bullets fire at them when they emerge from the shadows. They were tricked and had fallen right into their enemies trap. Leetuek had died for no good reason and she feels angry, pissed when she realizes.

She can’t hear anything but she brings up her weapon, her eyes dilating, shooting all around her. She sees her men go down by the enemy's bullet. She sees the enemies go down by her bullet. Confused but still clear in mind, she aims at the enemy sharply. She must stay calm and keep a keen eye at the roaring men.

But her luck fails and she goes down when a stray bullet reaches her skin in her leg and digs into her muscle. Her gun drops and she tumbles to the ground, getting a mouthful of the dirt below. She clenches her eyes shut in pain and she screams. Damn her childhood expericences.

Everything is coming back to her.

“The army is drafting us Taeyeon.”

She forces her eyes open. She could only watch as the other team ambushes her team, rushing out to kill anyone in uniform.

“Times have changed. Women of our age are required to go fight .They’re desperate for reinforcements.”

She makes eye contact with one of her men running towards her before he opens his mouth, a scream leaving his mouth. Blood shoots out of his back and splatters onto her face.

“Yo Kim, give me your best in this little game of the country.”

Her vision blurs as her grips the wound on her calf, groaning. She sees another man get killed right in front of her.

“I’m glad there’s another kind of my own. Danshins for life!”

She cries when another building goes up in flames, blowing up, causing the rocks to come flying at her. She curls up into a fetal ball.

“I’m only doing this cause I have no choice. We all know it."

Her helmet slips off her head. She turns, gasping for breath. She sees a gun aimed at her.

“Train while you can. It’s best to go out into battle with a nice body.”

She bites her lip, drawing blood. She already knows it’s the end anyway.

“Eating the junk they give us here isn’t healthy, but I guess they can't help it.”

She rolls onto her back, staring at the ash colored sky blankly. It looks like it’s going to rain.

“She’s dead. Died a few days ago in battle when her team was ambushed.”

She feels wetness on her face and now it’s pouring down on her body. She’s lying helplessly, soaked in her own sweat and blood while she spots a hellicopter fly into the sky. She clenches the dirt below her; they've come too late. She doesn’t want it to end. She doesn’t want to break her promise with her.

“I love you Taeyeon.”

Suddenly, another round of bullets is release. She feels cold as her body stiffens. She opens to breathe the words that always escapes her. She's wishing she could hear them.

“I love you Tiffany.”

She’s shot again and again, and her body twitches and jerks at every bullet fired at her. Her skin is ripping and tearing apart and she feels like she’s on fire. She coughs up blood and tears roll out of her eyes as her body releases its numb pain in a spasm. She gapes at the sky, wondering why it had to end up like this. But then again, deep inside she probably already knew 'why' but she didn't want to accept it.

She doesn’t remember when she closed her eyes, but it was dark, along with the battle noises falling deaf to her ears.

Alongside with everything else, she finds it ironic.

When she was was younger, she could've never imgained she woud've ended up stuck in the middle of a war. She decided to call it "karma" and sometimes, she thinks to herself and curses herself as a child would. "Why did you have to ginx it? Why didn't you just keep your mouth shut like every other kid?" She hated that she was too mature for her younger self.

Damn silly game of ginx.

Then, there was the girl next door. Or in real terms, the next tent.

Taeyeon never thought she would become invovled with a girl but in the end, she did; during a war too where people were fighting for their short lives. The battlefield was no place for love and it was no place to be slacking because of love.

But Taeyeon found it.

In the mist of the flying bullets and through the explosions of bombs and the instant death, she had found it. She had often heard about the army's fancy way of making soldiers realize they were attrached to the same gender but Taeyeon just believed it was some sort of twisted reality where you cling onto the nearest person beside you.

And it just happened that Hwang Tiffany was standing right beside her, holding onto her tightly without any sign of letting go anytime soon.

Taeyeon knew Tiffany thought it was just to be; fate, destiny.

Taeyeon thought it just happened and nothing could've controlled that.

Although, despite their differences, she didn't seem to mind falling for Tiffany.

Taeyeon just regretted that she fell for Tiffany in this life where it's undertermined if they'll live tomorrow instead of another brighter one without all the fighting and shooting going on around them.

You might want to read for the information in this story.

A/N: A newer story inspired by my brother who is serving in the army right now and is currently on the battlefield. I haven't decided exactly how many chapters the story will have but I do have the intention of finshing it; do not worry. And for the readers who also read my other story, I'll be updating soon so please be understanding.

Although this story seems like it'll be packed with action because of it's theme, it's not really. It'll be aiming at the development of SNSD in a war environment, which will contain foul language and mature situations. Please understand and yes, there will be Taeny, Yulsic, and side couple, Yoonhyun. I can't promise it'll be all sweet and loving on the way, but I can try to promise that'll I try my best to fill the romance between them.

That's all for now so please take your time to express you thoughts. It's very appericated and I do read them.

Wow. I'm about cry, complete with gross sobbing and everything. The only thing I can say is: Wow! Your writing is... awing. That is all I can say. And really now, thank you so much for sharing these well put-together thoughts of yours! And I hope you take your time without feeling rushed.
Thank you again! *U*

I knew it. I've never checked out your stories, but from the way we held conversations, I knew your writing would be promising. I clicked on the first one I saw, and I can scarcely fathom the thought. I'm rendered speechless, I really am. You have just about everything I have dreamed of having in my writing. You have amazing detail, great choice of vocabulary, and the vagueness that just leaves me awe-struck. To think I'm only on the forward, I'm looking forward to continue reading this! Maybe I'll learn to improve my own inferior writing by observing yours. I'm proud to say, I'm extremely impressed with this.

Well, I'm onto the first chapter with my hopes high. Keep up the good work buddy, because you earned another subscriber ^^

Okay You've got me! now I'm intrigued by Taeyeon's character as well! especially about her needing pills and her aversion to Tiffany despite her feelings for the said girl. everyone seems to have an interesting back story and I look forward to reading each and every one of them such as how they came to be, what their childhood was like to now.

Chapter 3: I can't help but squeal every time I find a well-written,literate story on AFF. Do you know how hard it is to find a fic that doesn't revolve around "SM High" or some teenage-drama shiz like that? Props to you, author.
