Falling in Love with a Friend

Love is Sweet

Kyuhyun stood out on the street, half hidden by the trees on the sidewalk as he watched the coffee shop across the street. He chewed on his bottom lip, holding on tightly to the umbrella in his hand. He didn't care that he was getting odd stares from people around him. He took a deep breath, stepping out from behind the tree an looking at the door of the cafe, trying to make himself look more confident before he crossed the street. Why did it feel so hard to just, walk over there and return this guys umbrella?

"So... I'm not the only one feeling a little nervous?"

Kyuhyun nearly jumped out of his skin. Next to him stood the stranger. As they stood next to each other, Kyuhyun realized just how long the other mans were as he towered over him. His stomach flipped over once more as the guy gave him a radiant smile that was brighter then the sun shine around them.

"I..... wasn't nervous." Kyuhyun muttered, looking away.

"Oh...." The man looked away also, "Well, I was."

A blush crept up Kyuhyun's cheeks once more. Why would this beautiful stranger be so nervous about meeting him? There was nothing special about him, so--

"So cute!!"

Kyuhyun was pulled from his thoughts as the Chinese man was once more pinching his blushing cheeks lightly.

"C'mon.. There is no sense in standing out here, we came for coffee, so we should at least get some." He said, taking Kyuhyun by the hand and leading him across the street.

Kyuhyun chewed on the bottom of his lip nervously. He didn't even know this mans name yet, but, somehow, he could careless what he was call. Was it wrong for him to notice how perfect their hands slipped together. He tried to sooth the flipping butterflies in his stomach as the man let go of his hand to hold open the door so that Kyuhyun could go in first. Such a gentleman.

Kyuhyun found himself missing the warmth of the other palm in his own. He shook the thought from his head as he followed the stranger to the counter.

"Oh, wait... No, I'll order for you, just go sit down. Okay?"

Kyuhyun blinked in surprise, staring oddly at him for a moment before moving away from the counter to sit at a table. A confused mixed of thoughts pounded threw his head. He had never had someone order something for him like this.... he couldn't help but feel like he was on a... a date.

"Here you go."

Kyuhyun cleared his throat, taking the coffee, "Uhm.. thank you.....?" He said.

"Oh! It's Zhou Mi..."

Kyuhyun smiled a little, "Kyuhyun..." He said.

Zhou Mi nodded, picking up his coffee and blowing on it softly before taking a sip. "I don't want to sound like a creeper..." He started, setting down his cup and running his thin finger around the rim of his cup, "I already knew your name."

Kyuhyun nearly choked on his coffee. Clearing his throat, he looked up at Zhou Mi with wide eyes, "W...what?"

Zhou Mi leaned back in his seat quickly, "No..no, I mean... It's just... " His cheeks were a bright red, "You worked at the book store down the street from where I lived.. and..." Zhou Mi looked back down at his cup quickly. "I stopped in nearly every day and tried to work up the nerve to talk to you, but...." He smiled up at Kyuhyun, "I couldn't even approach the register when you were behind it."

Kyuhyun couldn't help but blush in responce. He looked down at his own coffee, holding the warm cup between his hands. He was at a lost for words, he had been enchanted by Zhou Mi since he had first seen him on the sidewalk in the rain, but he didn't know how to express his own growing feelings. Expecially now with the new light of Zhou Mi being interesting in him too. They sipped at their coffees in an awkward silence.

He felt a sort of determination rush into him, he couldn't let this go wrong... Zhou Mi just seemed to... nice to let it end with this coffee. And Kyuhyun found himself longing for more.

"So..." They both spoke simultaneously.

Kyuhyun smiled a little, "You go ahead.." he said.

Shaking his head, Zhou Mi replied, "You started first...."

"No I didn't..." Kyuhyun countered, "Besides... I didn't really have anything to say. So you go ahead."

Kyuhyun smile widened as Zhou Mi laughed, the sound melodic and soothing, stiring up more butterflies in his stomach. "Oh, nothing. I was just trying to get you to tallk..."

"Me too..." Kyuhyun said. The two fell into another silence, both staring down at their cups.

"So.. Why don't you work at the book store anymore?" Zhou Mi finnally asked.

Kyuhyun continued to stare at his coffee cup as he found himself spilling out his life story to Zhou Mi. He found himself telling him about how he had moved from Korea, and how he had taken on to many jobs to keep count, often getting fired for showing up late because another job had kept him longer then expected. He told Zhou Mi about his terrible landlord who kept bringing up the price of rent and threatening to kick him out of the small appartment for paying late.

It wasn't untill Zhou Mi started asking questions about Kyuhyun's likes and dislikes and little random bits of information that they truely fell into a real give-and-take conversation. They both grew more relaxed with each others company as they swapped funny stories and share little quirks and habits and told secrets that they would have never dreamed of sharing before. But somehow, it was so easy to open up to the other.

Kyuhyun found himself smiling once more as Zhou Mi leaned back in his chair, holding his hand over his mouth as he tried to hold in the giggles from the cheesy joke Kyuhyun had just told.

"Uhm. Excuse me."

Both Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi looked up as the lady previously behind the counter stood next to their table.

"We are about to close, I'm sorry." She informed them before walking away.

Kyuhyun looked down at his watch. "It's that late already?" He mummbled, looking at the small hand at the eleven. He'd gotten to the coffee shop with Zhou Mi at around 4. How in the world had he spent seven hours just... talking. He looked up at Zhou Mi, who was looking at his own watch with a small look of amazment. "I guess we should go.. So she can close up."

Zhou Mi nodded, standing up and leaving the coffee shop with Kyuhyun at his side. They walked down the street in silence, not wanting to part from each others company.

"Uhm... Kyuhyun?"

Kyuhyun looked up at the taller Chinese man, both stopping in the middle of the sidewalk as their eyes connected. Kyuhyun felt like everything was going in slow motion as Zhou Mi leaned forward. He let his eyes flutter closed as Zhou Mi's warm lips made contact with his own. The kiss was slow and romantic, and felt a million times better then any kiss Kyuhyun had ever experienced. His body tingled with excitement as Zhou Mi slid his hand around his waist, pulling them closer as his other hand softly careassed Kyuhyun's cheek.

Kyuhyun gladly allowed Zhou Mi entrence as he felt the taller man running his tounge gentle along his bottom lip. He gripped at the front of Zhou Mi's shirt, pulling them closer still as he tried to create as much body contact he could without resorting to stripping the Chinese man right there one the street.

They broke apart for air, staring into each others eyes as they stood pressed against each other. Kyuhyun couldn't help but notice just how... right he felt, pressed against Zhou Mi. As though he had found the peice of the puzzle that his body was supposed to fit perfectly against.

"If I invited you to my place.... would that be to fast?" Zhou Mi asked, still a bit out of breath from the kiss.

A smile graced Kyuhyun's face once more as he stared into Zhou Mi's eyes, "Not at all..." He replied, just as breathlessly.

Hey,

I remember reading this fanfiction a long, long time ago when I first joined the fandom. And I must say until now this is still one of my all-time favourite, and it always give me heartquake everytime I read it. But since I haven't reread it for some time, I kinda find the story... strange. I might be wrong, but the last time I read there was this chapter called "Love is sweet". Author-nim, I'm wondering if that chapter is non-existent, or has it been deleted? And how about the two short story. Are they to be joined into this fanfic?
