Chapter 6
Memories“Thanks for inviting us, Tiffany-ssi,” Boa said with a friendly smile after sipping on her coffee and putting it back on the glass table, “Your home is really nice and cozy.”
The mentioned woman also smiled back in a polite manner, “Hope I'm not lacking a lot as the host. We actually don't have guests at home often so I'm not sure I prepared enough for you.”
“No, no! It's already perfect!” argued Taeyeon's mother, waving her hands in disapproval, “And we're very thankful just to be invited. As you might notice, our Taetae doesn’t have many friends so it’s quite rare and fascinating for us to be visiting her friend’s home. Right, yeobo?” she nudged her husband's arm with her elbow, urging him to involve.
“That's right,” Changmin agreed, “Thanks for inviting us, and also for letting Taetae visit here and study with Yeri every week, although it might be troublesome for you.”
The American-Korean woman shook her head, “It's our pleasure actually. Taeyeon is a very nice kid so it's not troublesome at all.”
The mentioned teenager flashed a shy smile at the comment.
As they went on to talk about their daughters, about their lives and literally everything in general, Boa exclaimed as if she remembered something, “Oh, actually I'd like to request your help on one thing if it's not so burdensome for you, Tiffany-ssi.”
“Yes?” Tiffany listened calmly, albeit curious at the way Taeyeon's mom spoke carefully.
“You see, my mother-in-law, Taeyeon's granny, lives in our hometown Jeonju with my father-in-law, just the two of them. Recently, her heart condition becomes quite weaker than before and it makes us very worried. Also father-in-law can't manage alone on his own, so me and my husband plan to visit there for a few days to arrange proper hospitalization for her and take personal care of her. We won't take Taeyeon with us because she has school and don't want her to stay at home alone as we'll be at the hospital the whole time. And I don't wanna let Taeyeon be alone in the house as she often has nightmares and such. So I'm wondering if you could let Taetae stay at your home during those days? It will only take like 3 or 4 days.”
Oh.
Tiffany blinked a few times, digesting the new information in her brain. It meant Taeyeon will stay under one roof with her and she'll be seeing Taeyeon from the moment she wakes up till the time she goes to bed in those 3 or 4 days.
It's already hard as it is.
“Wow, then Taeyeon will get to stay with me as the whole-day guest on those few days? Cool!” Yeri beamed, excited at the idea.
“But it's really ok if you're not convenient with that,” Boa quickly added, sensing Tiffany's hesitation, “We can arrange a hotel room for her as well.”
“No, it's fine with us!” Tiffany quickly defended, not wanting to be misunderstood, “I’m sure Yeri is more than happy to have her at home, right sweetie?” She said to which her daughter eagerly nodded in agreement.
What about you, Ms. Tiffany? Are you happy to have me too? Taeyeon silently thought, sneaking a glance at the woman.
“So this is my bedroom,” Yeri opened the door to the room and pulled Taeyeon inside, excitedly showing her the interior. Her mother leaned on the doorframe and watched them with a smile.
They went out of the room after a while and Yeri led Taeyeon further inside the apartment where two bedrooms were side to side.
“This is mom's bedroom,” Yeri said, pointing at one of the rooms and then passed without going in.
Taeyeon felt a little disappointed although she knew she was not supposed to. She was secretly looking forward if Yeri would show her inside her mother's room the way she did for hers. Despite visiting often, she still didn't get the chance to see Tiffany's bedroom and honestly, she really wanted to see what it looked like.
“And this,” Yeri stood in front of the room next to Tiffany's, “is the spare room. It's a bit small but still okay. But if you don't want to stay alone or something, you
