The cheer could be heard through out the baseball field. Kwon Yul, the famous pro baseball player in South Korea will be throwing the last ball of the season for his team tonight.
Everyone who love baseball knows who this guy is. He’s famous not just in his country but he also has a lot of international fan too.
The moment Kwon Yul step his foot onto the field, the crowd wouldn’t stop screaming his name while trying to get his attention, but his only attention is only meant for one and only person.

The game is over, and Kwon Yul once again bring another win to his team. His teammate is cheering and hold him up in the air inside the dressing room. The guys went crazy because they just win the final competition.
“Yah… Yul! Let’s get drunk tonight.” Yul’s best friend Kim Taeyeon said.
“Sorry Taeng. I had plan tonight.” Yul politely decline his friend offer.
“Ah wae?”
“It’s Yoona’s birthday today. I asked her to have dinner with me tonight.” Yul answered as he’s putting his stuff inside his duffle-bag.
“Ahhh…. Ok. So are you going to confess your feeling or what?”
“What?” Yul feel like he was caught by the question.
“Oh come on man! How long has it been since you know her already? 1 years? Or maybe 2? It’s so obvious how much you like her.”
“It’s 1 year and a half.” Yul corrected his friend.
“And you still haven’t confess your feeling? If I was Yoona, I would already go out with someone else.” Taeyeon said and it scared Yul to just hear those words.
“….” Yul was lost in his thought. He isn’t sure what he should do. Taeyeon noticed that and continue.
“Listen bro! Yoona is a very beautiful lady, she must really like you to wait this long, but who knows someday she might tired of waiting and decide to be with someone else. Why don’t you take this chance and make her your girlfriend man? What are you afraid of? And if she didn’t like you, she would just leave after the interview and spend her time with someone else.”
“I-I… Uhh I don’t know. I’m just scared of rejection. Things are going very well between us. I don’t want to make thing become awkward for her. Do you think that she like me too?”
“Isn’t it obvious? She always come and see you play.”
“She’s a sport journalist. It’s her job to be here.”
“Then what about you? You don’t like her enough to take a risk?”
“I really like her, but what if she reject me? We won’t even be able to face each other in the future.”
“Ok fine. Do whatever you want, but don’t regret it when she start going out with someone else and you end up being a friend who she comes to find when she fight with her boyfriend. Stay in your comfort zone then.” Taeyeon knows how to put pieces together inside Yul’s head.
And Yul’s silent made it clear that his plan works. Taeyeon smirk and pat his friend’s shoulder.
“Have fun with your best friend Yoona, Yul.”
“Uh Thank you Taeng. I will see you tomorrow at practise.”
“See ya.”
Yul couldn’t get Taeyeon’s word out of his head as he wait for Yoona in the parking lot of her apartment complex. Now that he think about it, he and Yoona hang out by themselves all the time and they did what most couple do on a date. They would go to a late night movie, hiking, and sometime she even invite him over for dinner at her place.
Kwon Yul could be very good at baseball, but he could be very dense when it come to love and dating. He got dump most of the time because he has no idea what to do and what women really want in a relationship.
He’s focus too much on his training, so sometimes he made his girlfriend feels lonely and broke up with him. When he met Yoona, he knew right away that he really like her, but he didn’t want to confess his feeling. He’s scared that she would leave him like all his ex did because he couldn’t make time for her.
Being friend means that they can see each other whenever they have time. It’s casual and no pressure that’s why Yul never think of making it official with Yoona.
He never feel so comfortable with someone like how he felt with Yoona, so he’s very happy with her.
The two met for the first time when his sister Kwon Boa introduce them and ask Yul to do her a favour and give Yoona an exclusive interview. Since it was a request from his older sister, he said yes without thinking twice.
Yoona is Boa’s junior in journalism, and she’s also a very big fan of Kwon Yul, so when she found out that Boa is his sister, Yoona promises Boa that she would do anything for her if she could get her an exclusive interview with Kwon Yul.
Boa knows Yoona and she likes how hard working the girl is. She also thought that the two would look good together, so she set them up and let Yoona interview Yul in hope that it could develop into something else.
The moment Kwon Yul laid his eyes on the doe eyes girl, he was at a lost for words. He never see anyone as beautiful as her, but what make him like Yoona isn’t just her beauty. It’s her sense of humour, her way of talking and joking while trying to make him feel comfortable. Yoona is a very considerate woman and Yul can’t help but fall for her right away.
It was very bold of him to ask someone for their phone number when they just met for a simple interview, but he knows that he would regret it his whole life if he didn’t get her number.
Even though he has her number, he never cross the line. It all start with just him sending Yoona invitation to come and see the game when his team play. Sometimes they went to see the game together while he’s in disguise of course.
And slowly he would ask her to have dinner with him after the game. Yoona never say no and she never ask for anything. She would invite him for dinner using excuse of paying back for the ticket. Sometimes when Yul is on his break, they decide to go hiking around Nam San at night when there is not much people around since Yul is quite famous. Their friendship slowly develop through time.
Yoona likes him a lot, but she didn’t want to push him to confess or make thing official between them. She’s happy to be close to him, and she never want anything else, just his company is more than enough for her.
Yul is lost in his thought until he heard someone knock on his car window.
“Oh!” He unlock the door and let Yoona in. “I’m sorry, I didn’t see you coming.” He apologise when Yoona settle in the passenger’s seat.
“It’s ok. Congratulation Oppa!”
“Thank you. And Happy birthday Yoona.” Yul said and reach out to the back seat and gave Yoona a big bouquet of red rose.
“Ohhh… Oppa you don’t have to give me anything.”
“I want to.” He said and smile sweetly at her.
“Well thank you.” Yoona accepted the flower. “Where are we going?”
“H-how about umm dinner uhh at my place?” Yul began to stutter. He didn’t know how it might sound to Yoona.
Will she think that he’s a ert for inviting her over to his place?
He actually listen to Taeyeon and decide to confess his feeling for Yoona tonight. He decide to prepare everything at his apartment since he can’t just do that in public and might get Yoona in trouble because of him. He even invite an Italian chef over to prepare a romantic dinner for them, but it all depend on how Yoona would decide.
“Yeah sure!” Yoona didn’t even hesitate, she’s excited that Yul invite her to his place. She would love to see what his apartment look like.
Even if it’s her birthday, Yoona didn’t expect anything much from Yul. She’s already so happy that he decide to make sometime to celebrate her birthday together that night after the game because she knows that his team mate would want him there after such an important win, but to Yul, it’s not even a choice.
“Let’s go!” Yul said and drive to his apartment. He lives about 15 minutes away from Yoona’s place.
“Here we are.” Yul said as he park his car in the parking lot. “I invite a chef to cook us dinner for tonight since you know, I can’t cook. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Not at all. I’m grateful that you even do all that for me. Thank you Oppa.” Yoona smile sincerely at him.
“Aniya. Thank you for agree to spend such important day with me, it means a lot.” Yul said and Yoona wonder how could someone as famous as him be so down to earth. He is such a gentle man.
And why Im Yoona didn’t even hesitate to come to a guy place this late at night? Well that’s because it’s Kwon Yul.
During all those time they spend together, he never tried to do anything to her. He would always give her comfortable distance, not too close and not too far. It makes Yoona felt at ease that for once the man she hang out with wouldn’t tried to get inside her pants.
She’s a big fan of Kwon Yul, but Yoona never expect him to have such a wonderful personality. He’s very gentle and respectful not to mention very cute at times. Yoona admit that it was just a crush at first, but once she got to know him, she can’t help but fall for him.
The two of them enter the apartment with the food ready and serve on the table for them.
Yul thanks the chef and see him off before joining Yoona at the table.
“I hope you like the food.” Yul said.
“Of course. It all look delicious.”
“Let’s eat while it’s still warm.” Yul said.
“Thank you for the food.” Yoona said and they start eating.
The evening went smoothly as it was fill with joke and Yoona’s laughter when Yul told her about the funny moments he had with his teammate. Yul is not a talkative person, but he loves hearing Yoona’s laugh. He loves it even more that he’s the one who could make her laugh like that.
They finish dinner and decide to move to the living room and hang out.
“Let me go and get the cake.” Yul said and get inside the kitchen to bring the cake from the fridge.
He awkwardly sing Yoona a birthday song which the girl found so adorable and start filming him. He couldn’t help but blushed lightly when she start recording him on her phone. It was a miracle that he could finish the song.
“Thank you so much Yul Oppa.”
“Make a wish Yoona-ah.”
Yoona close her eyes and make a wish before blowing the candle. She was so thankful and touched.
“Oh umm Yoona!”
“Nae?”
“I umm actually I didn’t have time to get you something special for your birthday, so I’m sorry.”
“What? You already did enough Yul. You know I never want anything.”
“Well, umm I did bring a small gift for you though.” Yul said and get up from the couch. “I’ll be back in a bit.” He said and went to his bedroom.
He came back with a square box in his hand.
“Here!” He hands it to Yoona and sit down next to her.
“Thank you.”
“Umm open it!”
“Okay.”
Yoona open the box and found a baseball inside the box.
Yoona is a big fan of baseball, so Yul think that maybe it’s a good idea to give her the ball that he hit the home run today.
Yoona can’t help but look up at Yul with her eyes fill with excitement.
“Is it the ball you hit today?” Yoona asked which Yul replied her with a big smile on his face.
“Yes it is. Umm I want you to have it.”
Yoona felt so honour to receive such a meaningful gift from him. It’s not everyday a player hit a home run and it was also the ball that make his team the winner of the KBO league final. Yoona could feel how important she is to him when he gave her such precious gift, but it doesn’t end there. She took the ball out of the box and that was when Yul started sweating like crazy. He was nervous.
Yoona was just thinking about asking Yul to sign the ball for her. But to her surprise, when she turn the ball around, there’s something written on the ball.
‘Yoona-ah, will you be my girlfriend?’ Yoona bite her bottom lips to restraint herself from screaming in excitement.
‘How can he be so cute and romantic?’ Yoona thought as she turn to look at Yul, who look nervous as he wait for her reaction.
Every second feel like hours for him. His heart is beating out of his chest and he might die if he didn’t hear answer from her.
Yoona gave him a big smile and nodded her head cutely making Yul breath a big sigh of relieve. He grab her hand and pull her into his embrace.
“Thank you.” He said once he release her from the hug.
“I thought you would never ask.” Yoona jokingly said.
“I was scared.”
“Of what?”
“Rejection.”
“I almost thought that my feeling is just one side.” Yoona confessed.
“Of course not. I like you, a lot.”
“Me too.” Yoona shyly confessed. The truth is she likes him way before he even become a pro player, but Yul doesn’t need to know that.

The next day:
Yul has an early training session today. He drive to his club and start warming up. After 30 minutes, he start with pitching the ball.
Yul keeps getting the fast ball today and even the coach was impress by him, but his best friend doesn’t. Taeyeon only get to hit the ball once after 10 throw.
“Yah! Are you trying to become the pitcher or what?” Taeyeon shouted at Yul which make him chuckle at his friend frustration.
“It’s not my fault that you are Taeng.”
“Yah you brat. Come on let’s switch.” Taeyeon asked and the coach nodded letting them switch place.
The whole team was watching them now. Taeyeon start throwing the ball and to his disappointment, Kwon Yul hit it straight over the outfield fence making the team scream out in excitement. Even Taeyeon himself was amazed.
After hitting a few more ball, the coach finally let them call it a day and told them to rest before another friendly game on the weekend.
“Look like someone hit the home run last night huh?” Taeyeon begin to tease Yul.
“Of course I did. Weren’t you at the game last night?” Yul replied confused.
“Come on you idiot. I was talking about your date with Yoona last night.”
“Oh!” Yul uttered and start chuckling embarrassingly.
“Really? You guys finally do it?”
“Do what?”
“It.”
“Yah you !!! I’m not a ert like you Kim Taeyeon.”
“Then why are you so happy?”
“Umm I uh asked her out and she said yes.”
“And then?”
“That’s it. We had dinner and then I drive her back home.”
“You didn’t even kiss her?” Taeyeon asked and Yul shook his head.
“I uhhh I’m not ready yet.”
“What? Seriously? Are you like the Mary or what?” Taeyeon said and start laughing at his own joke making Yul frown and glare at him.
“I like to take things step by step. Plus Yoona is not just any girl.”
“Alright alright! I’m just joking. By the way congratulation man!”
“Thanks man!”
“Let’s go out for lunch to celebrate.”
“Can’t do. I promise Yoona to take her out for lunch.”
“Mwo ya… I can’t believe you just ditch your best friend for a girl. Where was the promise of bros before hoes?”
“First of all, Yoona is not a hoe. And second, I ate with you almost everyday, so stop being dramatic. I’ll see you tomorrow Taeng.”
“Can’t I just tag along? I’m so bored.”
“Sorry bro, but not today. I’ll eat with you tomorrow. I promise.” Yul said and pat his friend on the shoulder. “See you bro!” He said and left Taeyeon huffing by himself.
“That idiot is so whipped.” Taeyeon shook his head while gather his stuff and leave.
