She looked out the window and saw the bridge slowly connecting to the doors and breathed a sigh she didn't notice she was holding.4 years. A lot has happened and she likes to think she's matured quite a bit a lot since then. Medyo.

"This is your captain speaking. We have now safely arrived at the Ninoy Aquino international Airport. On behalf of our crew, we would like to welcome you..."

Tinanggal na ni ryujin yung seatbelt niya at inayos niya na mga gamit niya para mabilis na siyang makababa. Pagod na siya at inaantok but at the thought of her friends, whom she’s been missing ever since she left, coming to pick her up brought a soft smile upon her face. A girl with sharp features and eyes like cat with a cheeky and shy smile with slightly chubby cheeks popped up in her thoughts involuntarily. Kasama kaya siya.

Ryujin didn’t know what to feel at the thought of the girl coming with, although it was most likely now that she remembered how both their group of friends gradually became tightknit simula nung nagin sila. Keyword sa naging.

The doors opened and the people around her stood up and starting getting their baggage causing ryujin to shake out of her thoughts and following along with the flow of people slowly progressing towards the exit.

Waiting for her baggage nalang, ryujin wonders how much has changed around her friends? Are they still one group even after their breakup or nagkawatak din ang grupo? She tries imagining how they would look like now after hitting puberty.

Ryujin had no doubt na mas lalo lang gaganda ang grupo nila Lia, first year palang ay pilahan na silang magkakaibigan ng mga manliligaw eh. Sila Winter kaya? Mas pumanget kaya ang mga mokong na yon o mas nagmukhang bata?

Buti nalang nakita niya na bagahe niya kaya mabilis niya na kinuha para makalabas na siya at makakain. Kanina pa kumukulo tiyan niya. Pano ba naman kasi, tulog pala siya nung nagbigay na sila ng mga snacks kaya walang laman ang tiyan niya.

Nakikita niya na yung hilera ng mga tao na nag aabang sa mga lumabas kaya onti onti nang lumalakas ang tibok ng puso niya. Sino ba namang hindi kakabahan? Ilang taon na din hindi niya nakita ang mga mokong. Nakakapagchat naman sila habang nasa Japan siya kaso sobrang dalang lang kasi hindi talaga siya yung tipong machat. Mas gusto niyang call o kaya face to face. ‘Tamad’ is the best word to describe Shin Ryujin.

“ATEEE!!! WELCOME BACKK!!”

“JINRYU!!!!”

Napatawa nalang siya, immediately judging the voice to be Yuna’s and Winter’s. Hindi pa pala nagbabago ang mga mokong.

Ryujin doesn’t know if her brain’s just not working as it should be because she’s tired or if it really is someone else running to hug her because she clearly doesn’t remember any of her friends being this tall. Nonetheless, her arms automatically spread to catch the incoming body.

“Oof”

Ang bigat putek.

“Tangina Yuna. Ikaw ba yan?! Ang laki laki mo na nagpapabuhat ka pa?!” Ryujin grunted as she balanced herself the best she can with the younger girl clinging tight to her.

“Ano ba yan akala ko ba uuwi ka agad? Bat naman umabot ng apat na taon”

Nung naramadaman niyang nagsimulang kumawala si Yuna sa yakap ay ibinaba naman agad ito ni Ryujin.

“Hindi ko din naman alam na tatagal pala ako don eh”

Nagulat naman si Rujin nangbiglang may sumingit sa gitna nila ni yuna. Si Chaeryeong pala.

“Aww hindi naman halatang namiss niyo ako ano?” Asar naman ni Ryujin nung napansin niyang medyo kumikinang ang gilid ng mata ni Chaeryeong. Si Yuna tumangkad, eto namang si Chaeryeong mas nagmukhang anghel. Napakadaya.

Chaeryeong just scoffed at Ryujin’s remark before hugging her tight as well.

“Welcome back Jinnie” Chaeryeong whispered softly by Ryujin’s ears.

“I’m back” Ryujin whispered back just they both moved away from the hug she felt a punch around her midsection making her groan in pain and finally coming face to face with her best friend.

“Putangina Winter! Ang saket non ha”

“Dapat lang! Tanginang to. Biglaan na nga yung pagpunta mo sa Japan tas biglaan ulit yung pagstay mo don ng ilang years hayop.” Inis niyang sabi.

“Sorry na nga kase” Awat ni ryujin. Finally getting a good look at her bestfriend, who was now sporting a bob cut with grey highlights at the end made ryujin snort, still rubbing the area where winter punched her. “Aba ayos ah, dora lang ang peg? Gustong magmukang bata?

Hindi pinansin ni winter ang asar at sinuntok niya nalang ng mas malakas si ryujin, this time sa arms naman para hindi lang sa isang pwesto ang sakit.

“Aray puta naman! Pangilan na yon ha!” Inis na sabi ni Ryujin.

“Biglaan ba naman kaseng sabi na ngayong gabi ka uuwe. Pasalamat ka wala kaming mga ginagawa hayop!”

“Ah.. hehe, sabi ko nga deserve ko yon. Thank you parin” Ryujin opted for a peace with a smile kasi narealize niya na medyo may mali nga talaga siya sa part na yon. Medyo lang.

“Puta gigil mo ko, hayup ka” Natawa si Ryujin ng mahina kasi lumapit parin si winter para yakapin siya ng mas mahigpit pa kesa sa naunang dalawa.

Ryujin patted her back gently at kumawala sa yakap si winter “Si ningning pala hindi nakasama kasi nasa galaan daw siya kasama nanay niya” Tumango naman si Ryujin “Buti nalang din, sainyo palang ni yuna bugbog sarado na katawan ko eh.” Reklamo niya habang hinahaplos ang kanyang braso.

Gumilid yung tatlo at tsaka lang narealize ni Ryujin na may mga iba pa palang sumama sa pagsundo sakaniya. Nagulat siya nang Makita niya ang grupo nila Giselle.

“Uy! Sumama din pala kayo!” Bati ni ryujin. At tama nga ang hinala niya, mas gumanda lang lalo ang mga magkakaibigan.

Si Giselle ang naunang yumakap kay winter “Bat naman hindi! Missed you Jinnie.”

Nahiya ng konti si ryujin “Missed you too Gi”

Sumunod naman si Lia at Karina. The only person who has yet to hug and greet her was Yeji. Damn. God has favorites.

“Welcome back” Yeji greeted with a bright smile. Ryujin was simply stunned with how Yeji looked now. Gone was the baby fat in her cheeks giving her a much sharper and mature look. Even her pink highlights suited her so well. Ang daya naman.

Napalunok si Ryujin kasi bigla siyang kinabahan at ramdam niya ang pagbilis ng tibok ng puso niya.

“Hi” Ryujin breathed out softly, suddenly finding the air around her scarce. Hi amputa. Kabado ka ghorl? Si yeji lang naman kausap mo.

Siya lang naman ang ex niya na nakipagbreak saken noon pagkadating ko sa japan. Ang babaeng dumurog ng puso ko. Taragis.

“Tangkad natin ah” She found herself saying dumbly, surprising yeji who just shyly laughed at her. Sige self ano pa matalino mong masasabi maliban don. Naknamp-.

She felt someone elbow her lightly on her side. Natauhan agad si Ryujin kasi bakit siya nagkakaganto eh sa nagkaayos naman na sila? (ng slight? counted na siguro yon) Yeji asked to remain as friends and ryujin agreed so here they are.

Friends, ryujin. Hindi ka naman awkward sa mga friends mo. Pero hindi ko naman sila naging ex. Hayop.

Mustering up some courage, Ryujin joked lightly “Ano? Walang hug? Sila lahat niyakap ako tas ikaw hindi? Feeling Special?”

Yeji scoffed and rolled her eyes “Please. Di ka naman special.” but ultimately went near to hug her.

Aray naman.

They hugged tight enough for ryujin to suddenly realize just how much things have changed. Yeji towered slightly over her but somehow, their bodies fit perfectly together like puzzle pieces.

Ryujin also noticed that yeji still wore the same scent after all these years. She resisted the urge to just drown in her scent like she did before leaving. No. They aren’t like anymore. They’re just friends. Nothing more.

Ryujin hastily but gently moved away from the hug, trying to act as natural as she can, turning towards the rest. Halatang gustong mangasar ng mga gago pero inunahan na niya bago pa may magsalita “So ano na? Di pa tayo aalis? Gutom nako” reklamo niya

Sa pagkataranta ni Ryujin ay hindi niya napansin na kumunot ng saglit ang noo ni Yeji pero agad agad namang bumalik ang matamis na ngiti nito. It happened so fast none of them noticed, none except Lia who immediately stood by Yeji’s side and held her hand, patting it gently silently offering comfort.

“Kelan ka ba hindi” Inakbayan agad ni winter si ryujin at kinaladkad, literal na kaladkad kasi nakayuko ng konti si ryujin at nahihirapang sabayan ang lakad netong isa papuntang parking.

“Teka oy! Sumosobra naman ata pagkamiss mo saken hayop” angal ni Ryujin na hindi pinansin ni Winter pero ramdam niya na may dumagdag pa ng kamay kaya naman mas napayuko siya. “Tangina naman Yuna isa ka pa! Mukha ba akong patungan?!”

Tinawanan lang siya ng dalawa at ginaanan and pag sandal para makaayos ng tayo si Ryujin “Tara! The Beech!” Aya ni Yuna

“Hindi nako sasama sa susunod nalang ako” Pagod na sabing ni ryujin.

“Boring dun. Sa morato nalang”

“Hindi ba kayo pagod? Ayaw niyo sa susunod nalang?”

“Tara BGC!” Sumingit naman sa usapan ang mga iba ng para bang walang sinasabi si ryujin.

Napamura nalang ng mahina si ryujin, she huffed to herself knowing she basically had no choice but to come. Bahala na. Bukas nalang siya matutulog ng mahaba.

Sitting at the bar stool with a cold beer in hand, a bunch of people flirting, dancing and drinking the night away. Ryujin felt her lips pull up into a small smile seeing her friends enjoying themselves on the dance floor but her eyes can’t help but fall back towards a certain cat eyed woman laughing and moving so effortlessly along with the beat.

Ryujin looks back to the years she’s spent trying to rebuild all the shattered pieces of her only to fail again and again. To the point na nawalan na talaga siya ng gana sa lahat ng bagay along with the fact na sobrang bigat ng dibdib niya halos hindi na siya makahinga.

Flashback 3 1/2 years ago

Ilang months na silang break but the pain is still unbearable. Sure, they’ve decided to remain as friends and keep in touch after their breakup but that doesn’t mean that ryujin could easily erase her love for the girl just like that.

She’s tried everything to get rid of the throbbing and stinging pain weighing around her chest. Araw araw, walang pinagbago. Nagsimula na siyang pumasok sa school at mag part time kaso wala parin, pabigat lang ng pabigat yung pakiramdam niya.

She got annoyed with every single thing then she started to feel angry from the way she’s feeling, to the reason why she’s feeling like this. She had never wanted to burst and scream her lungs out so much in her life before this. Before she caught wind of Yeji already out there entertaining someone. Lalake pa. Anak ng.

She was desperate to throw something, to break something, anything, kaso kung nagwala siya alam niyang magagalit nanay niya and she wasn’t ready for the questions her mother was bound to ask her kaya naman naisipan nalang niya na lumabas at magsimulang tumakbo.

She couldn’t care less where she ends up, masagasaan man siya sa sobrang reckless niyang pagtakbo, wala na siyang pakielam. All she knows is that she wanted to get rid of the oppressive feeling in her chest and the only way to do that is to let out her frustrations on to herself, so she pushed her legs harder.

For a while it was exhilarating, with the chilly autumn wind whistling through her ears along with the foreign sight around her. For a second she was awestruck with the beauty of the setting sun. Ang ganda.

Everything suddenly felt serene and calm. Up until she started feeling the burn on her lungs and legs and was immediately reminded of why she started running in the first place. Faster, kulang pa. Puta ang bagal pa.

Ryujin ran desperately that her body eventually gave up on her. Her legs buckled causing her to lurch forward and skid across the sidewalk. She blinked her eyes open seeing white and feeling everything spin around. Groaning and breathing heavily, she tried getting sitting up but hissed at the stinging pain she felt from her palms and knees.

She almost regretted pushing herself this far seeing the cuts and the blood slowly oozing out of her wounds but immediately noticed that the burn in her lungs as she tried catching her breathe strangely felt good.

Pinagtitinginan siya ng mga dumadaan pero wala siyang pake. Ryujin had forgotten how it felt like having no extra baggage weighing around her like this. She’d forgotten how it felt to be light and free like this. Kahit sugat sugatan man siya.

After that, she started exercising, running and tiring herself out hanggang sa literal na hinahabol na niya hininga niya. She was always aiming for the burning sensation of her lungs and body because it was enough for her to momentarily forget about the pain and heartbreak and focus on something else.

It was at that time when something shifted in her life. She slowly opened herself up, went out with her new friends, taking baby steps further away from the painful memories. Ryujin slowly accepted the fact na they just weren’t meant to be together. Just like that, Ryujin gradually built herself up again leaving the past.

Flashback end

Or so she thought until she saw yeji kanina, sa airport.

Ang alam niya, she already got over her feelings for her, both good and bad. She even managed let go of the anger she felt nung nalaman niya na may iba na palang nakakausap at ineentertain si yeji, tas lalake pa, right after their break up. So realistically speaking, dapat yung pagmamahal na ibinuhos ni ryujin kay yeji na literal na walang itinera si ryujin para sa sarili niya, ay dapat nawala na din. Kasi, hello? Ilang years nang lumipas.

Ryujin knows she’s moved on. She hit puberty, grew past her childish phase and gradually matured into the woman she is today.

So bakit hindi niya magawang maalis ang attention niya kay yeji?

Putangina lang. Bakit mas gumanda lang siya?

“Konti nalang matutunaw yan” Bungad ni winter na halatang may tama na kasi binagsak niya ang katawan niya pagkaupo niya sa tabi ni ryujin.

Ryujin faced her, ignoring what she said and pointed to winter’s current position “Lasing na nga kayo pero ayaw niyo pa magsiuwe?”

Winter whined and stubbornly shook her head which only made the pounding in her head worse than before making her groan “Gago.. sinusulit lang.. baka ‘hic’ kasi mamaya.. saglit ka lang ‘hic’ pala.. to tas babalik.. ‘hic’ ka agad sa jap ‘hic’..” Pahinang sabi ni winter.

Ryujin clicked her tongue seeing winter already drifting off to sleep with her head perched uncomfortably on top of the table. She sighed before downing the last of her drink and assisted (kaladkad talaga kasi wala na din siyang lakas) winter up to her car.

Buti nalang kanina niya pa hiningi yung susi ng sasakyan ni Winter. “Kung sino pa talaga tong galing ibang bansa siya pa talaga ang ipapadrive niyo aba” Reklamo niya ng mahina a natutulog niyang kaibigan once naipasok niya na sa sasakyan ito.

Ryujin lowered the windows just enough for the wind to get through but still high enough that a hand won’t be able to reach in before locking the doors and heading back inside the club.

She immediately saw Karina and Giselle sitting at the bar stool and approached the two. “Yung iba?”

“Si Chaeryeong sinamahan si yuna sa cr, si yeji at lia naman andon pa.” Karina answered tiredly before pointing to the two left on the dancefloor. She looked better off than Giselle, who has her head supported by her arms on the table, groaning “Tangina rina ikaw sisisihin ko kapag malala yung hangover ko bukas”

Ngumisi lang si karina sa katabi niya bago tiningnan si ryujin at sa likod nito. Napansin naman ni ryujin na mukhang may hinahanap yung isa kaya inunahan niya na “Si winter andon sa sasakyan. Knock out” she chuckled softly.

Napatawa naman din ng mahina si karina “Si yuna ata susunod, pangilang balik niya na din yon sa cr eh”

“Ayon naman pala, uwi na tayo” Aya ni ryujin, tumango nalang din si karina. Sinimulan niyang alalayan si Giselle patayo “Hanapin mo na sila Lia, ako na magsasabi kela Chaeryeong”

Tumango naman si ryujin at tumalikod sa dalawa. She went and squeezed herself though the crowd trying to spot the two women when someone suddenly fell right into her from the side.

Out of reflex, she held the woman at her waist kasi kung hindi, parehas silang matutumba sa sahig. Aalisin na sana ni ryujin yung hawak niya kasi nagmamadali nang narinig niyang magsalita yung babae.

“ sorry po”

Ryujin was sure she couldn’t forget that voice kaya naman napatigil siya. Still holding the woman by the waist, she stretched her neck to the side to take a good look at the woman’s face.

“Yeji?”

Lumingon ng patagilid si yeji “Ryujin?”

Kumunot ang noo ni Ryujin “Okay ka lang? Si Lia?”

Knowing that it was ryujin holding her, yeji ended up sighing and resting her body further into ryujin’s front, leaning her head back slightly on the younger’s shoulders.

For a second, ryujin awfully missed the feeling of having the older woman lean their bodies close together like this.

It must’ve been uncomfortable for yeji kasi she changed her position, akala ni ryujin tatayo na si yeji kaya inangat niya na din kamay niya pero nagkamali pala siya. Because the next thing she knows is yeji turned around facing ryujin and pressed their bodies close together habang nilapag niya ulo niya sa pagitan ng balikat at leeg nito

Nagulat naman si ryujin sa ginawa ni yeji kaya medyo tumigas katawan niya kasi hindi niya alam kung anong gagawin niya. Do friends hug like this?

Yeji mumbled lowly into her neck “Ryu, it’s just me, relax.”

It’s precisely because it’s you that I can’t afford to relax.

Yeji was obviously drunk and upon noticing ryujin’s hand that was still frozen mid-air beside her, she clicked her tongue and grabbed the younger’s hands. She placed ryujin’s hands around her waist tugging them as a silent order.

Napalunok nalang si ryujin at sinunod ang gusto ni yeji. At first she only held the older woman lightly around her waist because one, yeji was only wearing a crop top and two, ryujin doesn’t think she can handle feeling the exposed skin without having other thoughts. But then ryujin felt the older woman shiver slightly. Akala niya naman nilalamig si yeji kaya naman wala na siyang choice kundi hawakan na talaga ang bewang niya at haplosin ito para hindi siya masyadong maginawan.

Ryujin was so busy trying to cover and warm the other girl with her hands (walang malisya) that she didn’t even notice she ended up pressing yeji closer to her. She also didn’t notice the slight quirk of yeji’s lips at her actions.

They stood in comfortable silence like that for a while. Not minding the rowdy people jumping and dancing around them. Until ryujin remembered that they were supposed to be heading home and the others are waiting for them. Then she remembered, Lia.

“Yej?” She softly called out

“Hm?” Yeji lazily mummed

“Si Lia?”

Tinanggal saglit ni yeji ang pagyakap niya sa shoulders ni ryujin para abutin ang cellphone na nasa back pocket niya. Yeji’s head was still leaning on her shoulders as she fiddled with something on her phone, probably texting Lia.

Ryujin was just about to remove her hold on Yeji when she heard the other girl click her tongue in annoyance and felt a light pinch on her shoulder making her freeze.

Once she was done Yeji pocketed her phone once again and went back to her position before, hugging ryujin. This time yeji stepped even closer pressing their bodies together, feeling the warmth of the younger’s body. She tucked her head into ryujin’s neck and breathed in her scent deeply causing goosebumps to rise along the younger’s arms.

Good Lord sweet baby Jesus. Hindi ko kinakaya tong babaeng to.

Yeji felt warm and good and everything nice and ryujin all but wanted to stay like this pero she knows that friends don’t do this and it’s making her heart thump like crazy kaya naman she cleared a bit “Ano daw sabi?”

Yeji mumbled something pero since saktong sumigaw naman ang mga tao sa paligid nila kaya hindi niya narinig.

“Ha?” Inulit ni yeji.

Tangina naman. Apaka wrong timing ng dj mag make some noise.

Nilapit ni ryujin ng kaunti ang tenga niya kay yeji kasi hindi niya parin narinig “Hindi kita narinig, ano?!”

Medyo naiinis na din siguro si yeji because the next thing she knows is yeji grabbed her by the side of her head and leaned close to her ears feeling her hot breath. “Sabi ko kasama niya na yung iba now shut up and just few more minutes.”

Tinikhom nalang ni ryujin ang bibig niya at hinayaan nalang si yeji sa gusto niya kasi baka nilalamig pa. (Ulol)

She still hasn’t changed her perfume. Yeji noted. She was aware of how close and tight her hold was on ryujin but since she’s had plenty of drinks, her inhibitions around the younger woman was pretty much nonexistent. She could always blame the alcohol.

They stood swaying slowly to the music only they can hear not minding the jumping crowd surrounding them.

On the way na si ryujin sa condo niya pagkatapos niyang ihatid si yuna at chaeryeong, balak niya nalang patulugin si winter sa condo niya para si winter na din ang mag uwi ng kotse niya sakanila. Sila Yeji naman nagpasundo sa driver ni Lia kaya hindi na siya nag alala.

Nang nakapark na siya sa parking spot niya (Yes may kotse din siya, hindi pa nga lang dumadating) bumaba na siya dala dala gamit nilang dalawa at binuksan ang passenger seat.

“Win.. Tara na don ka na matulog sa kama” She gently shook her shoulders.

“Ang aga pa ma.. 5 mins pa..”

Sampal ang binigay ni ryujin sa mukha ni winter kaya naman napaupo siya sa gulat.

“Wala akong lasinggerang anak!”

“Putangina mo ryujin akala mo hindi lasing yung tao” Inis na sumbat ni winter. She squeezed her head wanting the pounding to stop altogether.

“Ginigising kasi ng maayos, may pa 5 minutes ka pang nalalaman.” She clicked her tongue before assisting winter inside the lobby and up to her flat.

Isinandal nalang ni winter and ulo niya sa gilid ng elevator “Tangina” nakita ni winter ang mga buttons “Ang dami naming floors.”

Hindi nalang sinagot ni ryujin kasi pagod na talaga siya. Swi-nipe niya nalang ang keycard niya sa gilid at nagsimula nang umakyat ang elev

“Bat umiikot yung mundo?”

Ryujin closed her eyes

“Uy kita pala yung view dito eh”

She pursed her lips. Kalma lang.

“Puta ang taas naman nahihilo nako”

Lasing pa si winter.

“May extra toothbrush ka don? Ayaw kong gamitin yung sayo kadiri”.

Hinga ng malalalim. Isa.. Dalawa.. T-

“Mali to ah. Papuntang heaven to eh diba don ka sa impyerno ryu”

“Isa pa winter papauwiin na talaga kita sainyo”

“Sabi ko nga. Tatahimik na po.”

Ryujin heaved a sigh just as the doors opened revealing her very own penthouse.

“Holy ” rinig niyang bulong ni winter. Mukhang nawala ang lasing ng mokong.

She felt her lips pull up into a smirk before stepping in and taking a quick scan around, admiring the place.

Holy indeed.

Dark modern and minimalistic interior with full wide tinted glass that the city night could be seen clearly without obstruction. The kitchen was insta worthy with its gorgeously marbled counter top and island table.

She could see the wooden deck outside, wide enough to fit 2 whole classrooms, with a fire pit surrounded with comfy couches.

Ryujin looked back at the elevator and saw that winter was still standing by at the doors, her jaw dropped wide open, gaping at everything she sees. Napatawa nalang siya, she can’t blame winter for reacting like that. Honestly if she wasn’t completely drained of energy she might have jumped around in excitement.

She ploppled her body directly on the black couch before calling out to winter “Mas nagmumukha kang tanga winter. Pumasok ka na dito bahay ko lang naman toh”

 She heard footsteps incoming rapidly and instinctively braced herself.

“TANGINA RYUJIIIINNN!!!”

Ryujin groaned at the sudden weight when winter jumped on top of her.

“Gago legit? Bahay mo? Sayo talaga to? Dito ka na titira? Kelan pa? Paano? Paampon din ako sa sugar daddy mo!!”

Inangat ni ryujin ang katawan nilang dalawa nang makaupo sila ng maayos.

“Isa isa lang puta akala ko ba lasing ka”

Winter was now currently waiting and looking at her with eyes open wide twinkling with pure amazement and ryujin can’t help but pinch her cheeks at the sight.

She took a deep breath before answering

“Oo legit. Bahay ko na to. Dito ako magsstay habang college. Binigay lang saken kanina. Hindi ko masasagot ang paano kasi mahabang kwento. At para sa huli mong tanong. Inamo! Sugar daddy?! Ako?! papatol sa lalake?!” Inis niyang dag dag.

“Edi ano? Sugar mommy?”

“Hindi pero medj tama ka sa daddy” Hinampas siya ng malakas ni winter.

“Aray putangina. Quotang quota ka na ha.” Hinaplos ni ryujin yung kaliwang braso niya

“Umayos ka nga. Hindi kita pinalaki ng palamura ha”

“Kaya pala hindi na din ako tumangkad. Maliit din yung nagpalaki saken”
