“I SAW HER HUGGING YOU, SEUNGWAN!”

Joohyun said as she turned around to face Seungwan who was panting, tired after trying to catch up with Joohyun at the parking lot.

Let’s see what happened,

Joohyun had decided to surprise Seungwan for lunch since Seungwan couldn’t be home due to back-to-back meetings at the office. But it seemed as though the surprise was more on her, that she arrived at Seungwan’s office only to witness one of fiancé’s co-worker hugging her tightly and even gave her fiancé a peck on the cheek.

Of course, Joohyun was furious

It has been their routine for Seungwan to come home or eat out with Joohyun during lunch hours before driving back to their respective workplace. Today, Joohyun had a day off and had cooked lunch for the both of them but unfortunately, Seungwan couldn’t make it back home. Hence, the unplanned trip to her fiancé’s office. But guess luck was not on their side since they now find themselves at a parking lot with Seungwan trying to pacify Joohyun

“Hyun, it was nothing—”

“I saw it with my two goddamn eyes, Seungwan” Joohyun gritted her teeth

“Please, listen to me. I didn’t even know she was going to do that. She caught me off guard too!”

“You didn’t even push her away!”

“It happened right when you arrived, Joohyun. You saw it exactly when it happened and I didn’t even have time to react when I heard you call my name”

Seungwan begs her and tries to hold Joohyun’s hand, only for the latter to move away. Not wanting to have any contact with Seungwan because she was just super duper mad.

Now let’s see, if she could just find the ’s car—

“Joohyun please, listen to me… “

“I don’t wanna talk to you right now, Wan. I’m going home”

Joohyun stormed towards her car, almost throwing her packed lunch for Seungwan down to the ground. She could swear that if hell is just before her eyes, she would throw that dumb hoe who kissed her fiancé right at it and never to return.

Stupid

Seungwan however, doesn’t even care if Joohyun was pushing her away. She is not letting Joohyun drive home in such state; being mad at her. She knows how Joohyun could get caught up in her emotions and tends to drive recklessly. She’s not going to forgive herself if anything bad were to happen to Joohyun, because of her.

Seungwan ran to her and wrapped her arms around Joohyun’s waist, stopping her from entering the car. Joohyun was trying so hard to remove herself from Seungwan’s embrace but the latter held her tighter

“I can’t let you go with the thought of you being mad at me, Hyun… I can’t let you drive home like this”

“Let me go, Seungwan” Joohyun said coldly

“Please, Joohyun. I would drive you home but I have another meeting in a bit. I really would just drop everything and go home with you but it’s a very very important meeting. But I also refuse to let you drive home in this state…”

“…”

“Trust me, Hyun. I would never cheat on you. I love you since we were 7, there is no way I would cheat on you. I’m sorry you had to see that, I’m sorry I didn’t act fast enough to push her away. I promise I would let my co-worker know that it’s not okay to kiss people like that especially when they’re in a very committed relationship”

Joohyun just stood there, eyes b with tears. She trusts Seungwan, she really does. It’s other people that she doesn’t trust. Joohyun, out of all people should know how big Seungwan’s love is for her. But she just couldn’t help herself a while ago

It’s not Seungwan’s fault

Joohyun moves her hand and placed it on top of Seungwan’s arms that was wrapped tightly around her, slowly patting it

“We’ll talk about this at home”

“Hyun—"

“Here, just take your lunch and make sure you have a meal before your meeting. I’m going home”

“Baby—”

“I will drive safely, don’t worry”

Seungwan slowly releases Joohyun from her hold and turned her around, feeling so guilty for making Joohyun sad. She was mentally reminding herself to stop by a particular shop to get something for Joohyun before driving home, praying hard that it’ll help at least a little bit.

“I’m sorry. And yes, I will eat. I promise to be home as soon as possible after my meeting ends” Seungwan spoke

Joohyun hummed and looked away. Seungwan took a step forward and gave Joohyun a peck on her forehead

“I love you, drive safe…”

“Hmm”

Joohyun then entered her car and slowly drove away, with Seungwan staring from the distance. Joohyun reminds herself to maybe stop by that creepy old shop right down the street and maybe get a voodoo doll for fun

It was when Joohyun was at the traffic light when she leans her head on the head rest, inhaling deeply to calm herself down because she promised Seungwan to drive carefully. Joohyun was kind of staring into space when she realized that this whole situation had happened before way back when they were kids

“Honey? What are you doing here? Aren’t supposed to be with Seungwan?”

Mama Bae asked when she noticed her daughter sitting and pouting in the living room, angrily staring at the blank screen of their tv. It was weird for Joohyun to be home right at this hour when she’s always with Seungwan on their play date. She wonders what kind of argument they went into today

“Joonie is angy at Chuwan” Joohyun replied

“Why?”

“Because Chuwan didn’t wanna play hide and seek with Joonie. Chuwan wants to play on the see-saw with Ddeulgi”

Joohyun scrunched her brows, feeling bitter that her Chuwan rejected her offer and wanted to play with Seulgi instead. Joohyun won’t lie that it did hurt when Seungwan didn’t run to her after she expressed her dissatisfaction towards the entire thing. Poor Seulgi only sat on the ground with her container of pringles (because her mom said she can’t eat too much) and waiting for a verdict on whether or not she gets to play with Seungwan. Seulgi was actually afraid to talk or say much because with one glare from Joohyun, Seulgi swore that all her pringles would break in half

And Seulgi doesn’t like it when she couldn’t eat her favourite snack as whole

But a part of Joohyun also felt guilty, because she did raise her voice at Seungwan. But it was only because she thought Seungwan got tired of her and preferred to be with Seulgi instead.

“Honey, listen to me. You can’t force people to do what you like to do…” Mama Bae started

“But Chuwan and Joonie always play together!”

“Mama knows, baby. But sometimes other people need time for themselves too. They need to talk to other people too. That’s how you grow and learn”

Joohyun just kept mum

“Look at it this way. You don’t eat chicken. You don’t like chicken, but Seungwan does. Have Seungwan ever forced you to eat chicken?” Mama Bae started again

Joohyun thought for a moment

“No…”

“See? Exactly. Seungwan loves chicken very much and she would really love to enjoy it with you. But instead Seungwan never forced you to eat it, because she cares about you. So, you must do the same too. Not just to Seungwan, but to other people as well.”

Joohyun just sat there, processing her mother’s words. It does make sense, she thought. Seungwan had never forced her to do anything she doesn’t want to do.

She then felt something in her chest, it stung her a little. She doesn’t quite understand it yet as a child, but what she does know it that she must apologise to Seungwan for her behaviour. She can’t lose Seungwan, and she refused to do so

“Joonie is sowwy, Mama… Joonie is just… just…”

“It’s alright, my baby”

Mama Bae smiled and gave her daughter a peck on her temple before ruffling her hair

“You should go and find Seungwan. You know what to do now, right?”

“Yes, Mama. Tenchu…”

“No problem, honey. Don’t be home late, okay?”

“Otay…”
