We all know its something that we have to deal with for as long as we live. Maybe as kids we don’t really understand it that much because our parents are usually the ones who gets it done. But as we grow, we learn that we too, would have our own responsibilities one day. Having our own bills to pay. But as kids, that’s a long way to go, you know?

But not for little Seungwan and Joohyun

You see, yesterday at school, they learned about numbers. How to count, how to subtract, how to segregate your apples evenly in multiple containers, etc…

It was fun, because both Joohyun and Seungwan loved counting. They love trying to solve problems. Even during break time Joohyun was counting her coins, holding up the line because she wanted to buy a pack of gummy bear. But it was all good, the lady helped her and she got her gummy bear.

So yes, they learned how important numbers are

But we’re here to talk about numbers and bills.

When Joohyun got home, she overheard her parents were discussing about their bills. She doesn’t understand much, but Mama Bae did explain it to her about paying things so she can continue watching tv, so Mama and Papa can drive cars and bring her to more holidays, so she can use water to shower, wash her hands and even flush her poo-poos away. Mama said it’s important to pay them so they can keep living comfortably. So that’s the reason why Mama and Papa had to work so they can earn money and pay their bills so Joohyun can keep watching My Little Pony.

Joohyun also learned that Bills can get expensive

Joohyun can only count till the number 10, and her parents told her that bills are more than that. To Joohyun, if anything goes above the number 10, it’s a really, really big number. And that’s a pretty big deal. Little Joohyun understands how her parents have been working hard so she can have a happy life, and she wanted to repay them

By paying her own bills

So she told her best friend about it. Explaining to Seungwan about how and why bills are important;

That’s about it. Seungwan really didn’t get Joohyun’s long explanation about bills, but when Joohyun mentioned something about not being able to watch Paw Patrol if bills were not paid, Seungwan knows it’s a serious matter

So now here they are, at Seungwan’s living room with Joohyun writing a big number 3 on a blank paper with her crayon as Seungwan rummaging her schoolbag trying to look for a snack she bought earlier

“Chuwan!!!!! Our electric bills are too much!!!”

Joohyun said pouting, gazing at her best friend who’s got a frown on her face

“Oh no… how much?!?!”

“It’s 3 dollars Chuwan, it’s expensive!!!! Joonie only got one dollar!!!!”

Seungwan finally found her snack after searching carefully. She was supposed to be happy about it but after finding out that their electric bills are expensive, she got a little worried

“Chuwan only got a kitkat…” Seungwan frowned. And then she remembered something “Oh!! If we give kitkat to Mr. Electric man, maybe they will give us a cheese count for our bills!!”

Joohyun tilted her head in confusion

“Cheese count?”

“Yeah! Mama always ask for cheese count in shops and mama said cheese count means to ask the people to make it cheap!”

Joohyun nods in understanding, knowing that cheese count might help them a lot. But something is bothering her. Because if Seungwan were to give Mr. Electric man her kitkat, Seungwan would be left with no kitkat

“But… Chuwan likes kitkat…” Joohyun said

Both of them sighs. Wrecking their brains trying to find ways to pay their three-dollar electricity bills.

It’s hard to be an ‘adult’ as a seven-year-old

“Chuwan will try to help Joonie pay. Maybe Chuwan should work… Joonie is having a baby too”

Ah yes, little Joohyun is ‘pregnant’.

Joohyun nodded and rubs her belly that isn’t too round to be called a pregnant lady. You can clearly see the outline of a teddy bear showing which she stuffed under her shirt earlier this day

Joohyun lets out a toothy smile, feeling proud of Seungwan for helping their ‘little family’. Joohyun looks into her blank paper again and got the shock of a lifetime

“Water bills are expensive too!!!!!!” Joohyun exclaimed

“It’s 60 cent, Chuwan!”
