Harry Potter AU / Wheeincentric / Moonsun

But First .....

The great Atrium of Ministry of Magic was bustling with life. Swooshing sounds can be heard left and right as witches and wizards emerged or departed from the many gilded fireplaces. A long line formed near the security stand to register their wands before continuing their journey into the golden gate, some disappeared into halls or corridors and some, like this particular witch, was queuing in front of the wrought golden grilles, waiting for the lift.

Wheein lowered her sunglasses and raised one of her eyebrow at a young wizard that was looking at her funny – admittedly, her black combat boots, ripped denim shorts, and black hooded long sleeves sweater screamed muggle – but still, it was rude to stare.

Craning her neck as if to see when the lift will arrived, she saw the young man gulped when his eyes fell on the dueling wands tattoo proudly displayed on the side of her right neck.

“Boo.” The young turd nearly scream when Wheein suddenly looked at him dead in the eyes and nearly tumbled on his own two feet as he hurriedly squeezed his body inside an almost packed lift just to avoid her.

Rolling her eyes, Wheein pulled up her hood, covering her short curly platinum blond hair and stepped inside another less crowded lift.

“Level 2 – Department of Magical Law Enforcement.” the voice boomed and Wheein stepped out and walked into the shadowed hallway. Pictures of known dark wizards leered and jeered at her as she walked by, but Wheein had long learned to ignore the crude remarks, pulling up her middle finger at them instead.

She swerved her head slightly to the right, letting pale violet-colored paper airplanes carrying messages flew passed her in a group, searching for their attended recipients. The office was quiet compared to the other part of the Ministry, most probably because almost all of its occupants preferred to be on the field rather than pushing papers on their cubicles.

Wheein’s barely acquainted itself to the chair for more than 5 seconds when a gruff voice called her out, “Jung!! Get in here.”

Sighing heavily, she threw her shades onto her cluttered desk and head toward the Head of Department’s office, “You rang?” leaning against the door frame of the cluttered office, Wheein watched on as the giant of the man rummaged through his desk busily.

“I have a case for you.”

“I just got back from that border skirmishes between vampires and were pack.”

Williamson only grunted his acknowledgment, “Yeah well, this one came directly from above.” With an easy flick of his wand, papers rustled and flew to paste themselves side by side on the black board stationed at the left side of his office. Two familiar faces stared back at Wheein as her boss readied himself to brief her.

“Meet…”

“Kim Yongsun and Moon Byul Yi.”

“You know them?”

Wheein shrugged, “I don’t know them personally, they were a couple of years ahead of me, but I know of them, I think everyone know of them, inseparable, those two. Head Girl,” Wheein nodded toward the black haired Yongsun then nodded toward the smirking blond, “Quidditch Captain, both Slytherin royalties.”

“Good, since you already know their background, we could just go straight to the point. We apprehended the blond woman last night and we need you to find out where Kim Yongsun currently hiding.”

A finely shaped eyebrow arched in question and the older Auror scoffed at her rather failed attempt to look menacing, “This is what we know so far.”

Another flick of his wrist and pictures flew out from the black folder and suspended in circle surrounding them. Men, women, differing age groups, differing ethnicities all stared at them solemnly.

“We received reports of missing person, but since all of them are grown up, some of them even have a pretty bad criminal track records, it never crossed our minds that they were all kidnapped, let alone by the same perpetrators. Until….” The older man pointed his wand into the group of pictures and brought two pictures into the forefront, showing Wheein the smiling faces of two Slytherins boys still wearing their school robes posing in front of Hogwarts.

“Marcus Flint, Terrence Higgs, both 17, both in their 7th Year, they were last seen dining together at Mrs. Lovett’s Demon Pie on Fleet Street and then poof they just disappeared without a trace. We tried everything, not even a blood summon using their parents’ blood works.”

Wheein hummed as she circled the pictures, “You haven’t told me why you think that those two did it. I mean, if owning the last place where the victims were seen is a crime, we would need a bigger Azkaban.”

“Their names keep coming up, I supposed they both getting sloppy after a while, but almost all of the victims either frequented the Pie shop or were last seen there before completely fell off the earth.”

Wheein hummed again, still not entirely convince, “and they resisted questioning? And Kim Yong Sun managed to evade Aurors? A pie shop owner. Really.”

Scratching his stubbles with a slight cringe marring with face, Williamson rubbed the back of his neck, “The blonde voluntarily follow us here for questioning, no hassle at all, she answered all of questions and provided alibis for most of them, but her alibi is always her partner, which we has yet to locate. Too cheerful, that one, I don’t trust her.”

“Ah…..”

Born with a gift of Ligilimency, the Ministry from time to time has requested her help to delve into people’s mind. So powerful was her gift that even the Minister of Magic believe that Wheein is a stronger Legilimens than He Who Must Not Be Named, someone that needs to be cultivated and utilized.

“She’s in Interview Room 9966.”

***

Her low heeled boots clinked and clanked on the deserted hallway, her fingertips trailing the wall as she walk, deliberately taking her sweet time.

She hated this part of her job the most.

Delving inside of someone’s brain as if it was a book waiting to be opened at will, to be read and examine, to peruse their inner thoughts and forgotten memories, to pick apart their emotions and unveiled their deepest and darkest secret.

Or worst.

To bend their mind to her will.

Or destroy it.

Her steps stopped at the front of the door, the last barrier between her and the person whose mind soon she will invade.

The blond was sitting there calmly when she entered the small windowless room, all gray brick and dimly lit, the room was intended to any positive and happy thoughts, yet her face remained calm and somehow, cheerful.

“Ah, you. I remember you. Ravenclaw, am I right?”

The corner of Wheein’s lips lifted upward as she nodded and seated herself in front of her school senior, aside from a few soft laughing lines on her eyes, Moon Byul Yi really doesn’t change all that much.

“And I remember you.”

Wheein whispered softly, a coy smile plastered on her lips as she chanted legilimens in her mind, focusing all of her attention to the woman in front of her, trying to pry open her mind as softly as possible.

Snapshots of events, places, faces and memories assaulted Wheein in an instance, rocking her almost out of balance if she didn’t quickly gripped the edge of the metal table.

She blinked, slowly, trying to gather herself as fast as possible. She uses legilimency almost all of her life, but never to this effect. The memories assault nearly knock her on her feet, it was almost like Moon Byul Yi has no shield on her mind whatsoever.

She her lips softly and balled her suddenly cold hand in a tight grip, “I…” she chance a look on Byul’s face, she had a tint of green on her complexion, but aside from that, she still smiling softly at Wheein.

She disengaged herself from the seat and walked out from the room, hands on her lips to curb the nausea from bubbling up . She will need time to sort through all of the memories that she gathered, but one particular image burned on her mind.

The image of Kim Yong Sun sleeping peacefully inside a sleeping bag surrounded by other sleeping bags, containing some of the supposed kidnapped victims.

***

Wheein put the tip of her wand on her temple, muttering the incantation needed to retrieve her and/or Byul’s memories.

Silver like liquid memories streamed out from the wand to an onyx tablet covered with magic rune from top to bottom. Invented as way to create a more mobile pensieve that would help her in her work as an Auror, it took months to perfect the tablet with the help of her old professor, but she and McGonagall finally able to pull it off and it became an invaluable asset for the Auror task force.

Sitting cross legged on the bed, she laid the tablet on the center of it and with a flick of her wrist, the memories slowly rise from the tablet and projected in front of her like a motion picture.

Her hand moved slowly left and right as she shifted through Byul’s childhood, her years in Hogwarts and her unrelenting love for her first love. Kim Yong Sun felt like a permanent fixture of Byul’s past and present and given the chance, her entire future as well.

She paused when she came into the part where Byul and Yongsun met the two missing boys, the anxiety that she felt rolling from the boys as they held each other hands. The beat of her heart almost thunderous in her own ears as she waved her wand hurriedly, making the reports that she received from Williamson hovered near her. Her eyes frantically identify faces upon faces of the known reported victims with the one embedded in Byul’s memory and many more that was never reported missing.

She leaped from her bed and stared to pace back and forth. She couldn’t quite believe that Moon Byul Yi didn’t even try to resist her penetration, it doesn’t take a genius to connect the dot and draw at least a semi coherent picture. Moon Byul knew that she was sent to interrogate her, she knew and yet she didn’t even try to use occlumency against her, which could only mean that she wanted Wheein to see those memories.

The only question left is …. Why?

Author Note

I always want to have a cross between HP universe with Mamamoo, maybe because I used to write for HP hehehehe and I always want to make cool auror Wheein who is an introvert, a hermit and aual. I think I have this convo with Jo (Guchahae) about how Wheein is so versatile, you can create any kind of characters for her and it would just.... fit.

Anyway, if you guys follow the pattern, the next update should be a bit more fluffier and cheerful than this xD

My GF asked me why I love making serious, complicated, complex and difficult to write stories when I'm better equipped to write a witty romantic comedy style story and .... idk, cause Im an INTJ? *shrugged*

I have one or two more first chapter to drop and then I will force myself to write out the story for real.

Question, as a primarily Wheebyul writer, why I cant stop thinking about making Wheesun next? like an actual slowburn kind of makjang K-drama type of romcom story? why?

Cheers,

Gabe

Chapter 1: Loving Backwoods so far. Very well written. It's actually hard to transmit shyness over paper, but this is a great example. Please carry on with this one.!

I know they are the potential angsty pair but this is too much 😭😭😭
Still, it's a well-written chapter and a little too scary since every detail is so vivid as if I was truly there ^^;
