“One, two, three…”

A girl of long black hair unconsciously began counting the bright gems in the dark sky above her, as she found herself walking around in circles on a grassy field of an isolated garden. Even though there was a smile on her face, her eyes were filled with the state of loneliness and grief of nothingness. Little did she realize, with each star she counted, a drop of tear slid down her cheek.

“Why did I even bother coming back here…?” She whispered to herself, laughing bitterly.
Sliding her back on a certain tree, she slumped on the ground gently. There were a lot of things on her mind. What? When? Why? Where? How? The five questions raced in her head, but all were left unanswered. The girl turned around to the object she was leaning on and looked at it with eyes that were reminiscing the moments of the past. She traced her fingers against the carved markings of the tree behind her...one which held so much memory.

No one was around to hear her sighs or see her endless falling tears. Every time she was here in the garden, someone very special was always by her side…but not today. She was alone.

She looked back up at the black space, and stared at the bright lights rather blankly and almost thoughtlessly. The girl then began voicing out the thoughts and emotions that she had been trying her best to ignore. Her heart was battling her mind, and it had won. She was way too hurt to hold them back any longer.

“Stars, no matter what I say, I really can’t express myself. I’m frustrated now. What should I do? Please tell me…what should I do...? How much longer must I cry as I trust in that promise?” She held her legs and buried her face as she sobbed silently along with the cries of the crickets in the night. All else was heard, until there were nothing left but tears and continuous self-blame…was a message of regret.
