Epilogue
A Ghost Story 귀신 이야기I have been avoiding the old music room for a few months already so I can move on. After a long time, I’m here again. I think I already moved on. I don’t feel to depressed thinking about Baechu anymore. Oh? The guitar caught my eye. I guess I’ll play and sing for a bit.
I recalled the first time I sang for Baechu so I played the song I sang her that day.
♪ While I was waiting for you,
I’ve been thinking that you’re hurt after you left me.
So you’re crying on the way back to me.
When I see you I suddenly thought
That on a clear day you will come back to me just like when you left me.
You in front of me—
The door suddenly opened and there was a girl standing right in front of me. She’s wearing the same uniform as me.
“Am I disturbing you?” She said.
I dropped everything and ran to her and wrapped her in my arms.
“Baechu-yah! I missed you so much.” I said as tears kept flowing down my face.
“S-sorry?”
“Huh?”
“Do I know you?”
“I’m Seungwan! What are you talking about, Baech—”
Then, it dawned on me. Baechu is not in this world anymore. But this girl looks exactly like her. I probably scared her so I ran away and left her in the music room.
Ding ding dong, the bell for the first period rang. It’s self-study period but I feel so dizzy so tried to take a nap.
“Alright class! Today, we have a new transferee, please welcome your new classmate. Come in, please introduce yourself.”
“Hi! I’m Bae Joohyun. I moved here from Daegu because of my dad’s job. Let’s all get along well.”
Her name was almost the same as Baechu’s and when I looked up, she looks exactly like Baechu. I stood up in shock. She smiled and she seems to have recognized me from our encounter in the old music room earlier.
“Son Seungwan, what’s up with you? Joohyun, you can sit beside her. Seungwan, give her a school tour later after class.” The teacher said, clearly weirded out.
Bae— Joohyun approached and sat on the seat beside me.
“Thanks in advance, for the school tour.”
“Sure… no problem.”
“…”
“…”
“Your voice is so beautiful.”
“T-thanks.”
“Son Seungwan, right? Nice to meet you. I hope to hear you sing again soon.”
“Nice to meet you too, Joohyun.”
“…”
“Um… I don’t really sing that much in public but if you wanna hear me sing, maybe I can sing for you later after touring you.”
“Sounds great! Thank you.”
Baechu-yah, I know she’s not you, but I can’t help but think about you when I see her because you look exactly the same. You have similar names, you sound the same, and you kinda have similar personalities too. I think I’ll get along with her well. Don’t worry about me, Baechu. I’m fine now. Rest in peace.
