Confrontation
Midnight Kiss
Lunch-time and Xueer’s stuck with Zhao Xiaotang and Liu Yuxin again. The blonde wouldn't let go of her. Granted she hadn't told her to back off, nor did she confirm or deny the rumors of them getting back together. She had successfully dodged any 'alone-time' with her and every time she tried to kiss the redhead, the latter just conveniently searched an inexistent lost object on the floor or simply walked away stating that she had to go somewhere. Anyone would think she'd take a hint. But Xueer guesses Yuxin never really was one of the bright ones.
Xueer’s poking the so-called food in her plate, which doesn't even look remotely edible, while Xiaotang keeps nagging about her of a teacher, Jony J. Which isn't nearly as bad as Yuxin trying to get closer and closer to her during the whole conversation. The redhead looks up and scans the area, desperately trying to cast her attention away from her seemingly crappy lunch. She sets her eyes on another one of her best friends called Yu Shuxin, engrossed animatedly in a conversation with a group of girls that are laughing at whatever she’s saying. Xueer loves her, she really does. Shuxin has helped her out in a lot of things and she’s forever grateful for that, for their friendship, and for her.
And speaking of best friends, there's Xiaotang by her side, looking intently at Shuxin too; her non-stop googling eyes ever since the moment she saw her. How much is it now? Day number 47 since her friend confessed her, she had a crush on her? Xueer’s still waiting for the day where one of them confesses their feelings, and more knowing that Shuxin probably feels the same. Just thinking about it makes her roll her own eyes.
Just when she wants to officially declare this lunch the worst ever, Xueer notices her. Casually leaning against the wall across the quad, flipping uninterested in a magazine. It's been a week since New Year’s Eve, and they haven't said a word to each other, actually they didn't even see one another. Not that they used to be best friends or anything, but they kind of talked. Well, insulted would be a more appropriate term. The thing is, one Kong Xueer and one Xu Jiaqi have a confrontation in the hallways at least once a week. Whether it's a Monday or a Friday, they and everyone else knew it would happen eventually. Like some sort of unwritten rule. And it isn't until now, that the redhead realizes how much she relished them. Nobody stands up to Queen Snow, that’s what the school called her. No, they bow down. But not Jiaqi. Jiaqi bites back.
And she bites good.
A sudden slipped-around-her-waist arm, wakes her up from her daze. She rolls her eyes and scoots away from the delusional blonde next to her. When she looks back up she sees her leaving, taking a turn towards the bathroom. Great, she thinks. Perfect excuse for her to get out of Yuxin’s grip and to see the other girl again. She excuses herself from the table and unconsciously start fixing her hair and straightening her clothes on her way to the restroom. She opens the door and spots her at one of the sinks, splashing water on her face. She looks up in the mirror and instantly locks eyes with Xueer. The gaze lingers for a while, before the short haired girl finally lowers down her face and continues her previous actions.
"So, do you want to have a fight in here? There's like no audience. It kind of ruins the fun." She chuckles, still with her back to the redhead.
"I don't want to fight." She answers plainly.
The dark haired girl turns around and flashes her a half-smirk.
"Well yeah, not fight, fight. We wouldn't want to mess up that pretty face
