MARCH 15, 2020
"Morning," Leon drawled lazily in a gruff, sleep-laced voice as he opened the door of the hotel bedroom.
Seated cross-legged on the floor, Vanessa stopped drawing her eyeliner in front of the full-length wall mirror and looked up. Her gaze fell on Leon's tousled hair and saw the male rubbing away the remainders of sleep from his eyes with his fingers as he walked towards her. Vanessa instantly ducked down as Leon crossed over her to head into the bathroom and freshen up.
"You're up early," Vanessa commented as she resumed drawing the perfect natural wing.
"Yeah, got a morning errand to run," Leon hummed in a slow response before the bathroom door closed and the shower water ran.
Fifteen minutes later, Leon walked out of the shower in a white, fitted turtleneck sweater and a pair of blue jeans. His hair was also effortlessly parted in the center with hair gel. "So, what are your plans for today?" Leon asked in an attempt to make small talk.
Vanessa was now styling her hair into wavy locks with her newly purchased FoxyBae hair wand from an online sale.
"By the way, you look like a lion with those curls," Leon said offhandedly as he walked past her.
The girl frowned heavily and glared at the male while shooting back, "You're just jealous that you don't have my luscious locks."
"That wasn't what I asked, Ness," Leon said, laughing carelessly.
Vanessa finally shook her head before replying with a gesture to the closed bedroom door where the other two were still sound asleep, "Haven't really thought about it yet. I'm on my own today. Russ is meeting his Hall friends, Nellie is gonna hang out with her Hong Kong friends, and you have errands to run. I might just head over to Central Park or something."
Leon nodded in understanding and the two lapsed into a comfortable silence before the male broke the quietness after a pause.
"Well, do you wanna join me instead?" he casually asked while scrolling through his phone before adding, "I mean, since you have nothing much planned."
"You sure you want to hang out with a lion the entire day?" Vanessa bit back scathingly, but her eyes still lit up at his proposal.
Leon only shrugged. "Up to you. If you are joining, my Uber is coming in exactly two minutes."
Vanessa's face paled and she cursed lightly. Scrambling back into the bedroom as quietly as possible so as to not disturb the two sleeping beauties, she pulled out the outfit hanging in the wardrobe before dashing into the bathroom to change. She internally thanked the heavens for choosing her outfit the previous night so that she didn't have to waste another minute thinking of what to wear for the day.
"One minute," Leon called from outside as he tapped on his watch, holding onto his long camel coat.
"! Wait, I'm almost done," Vanessa gasped as she ran out of the bathroom in a black camisole top and a pair of cropped distressed jeans. She grabbed her black, faux leather tasseled backpack and a cream knitted cardigan that was draped on the arm of an armchair. Hopping on a leg, she hastily squeezed her other foot into her Timberlands and scurried after Leon.
"Did you take a room card?" Vanessa panted as she entered the hotel lift.
Leon nodded and passed the rectangular card to the girl for safekeeping.
The Uber stopped beside a row of boutique stores on one of the emptier streets in Soho, Manhattan. Leon thanked the driver before exiting the Uber and started walking down the street.
"What are we doing here?" Vanessa questioned as she fell into step beside him, marvelling at all of the high-end stores lined up one after the other.
"I'm collecting my tailored suit I ordered a month ago," Leon briefly responded. He swiftly maneuvered himself to take the outer lane and nudged Vanessa to the inside while eyeing upwards for the store name.
Vanessa did vaguely recall Russell helping Leon with his body measurements with a measuring tape they had somehow managed to borrow from their very sweet and kind neighbour. She balked slightly when they stopped in front of a small-scale menswear boutique store. The exterior was seemingly modest with darkened glass walls, but when Vanessa glanced upwards to read the store name, she could immediately feel a sense of grandeur from the cursive writing and the immaculate logo. Leon simply entered without a word, leaving behind an astonished Vanessa. She cautiously pushed open the glass door and the bell tinkled lightly. The female was instantly hit by an air of mild masculine, oriental scent of wood and fruits. The interior was dimly lit with yellow lights, and decorated with wooden closets and racks of display suits. There was no one in the store except for Leon and Vanessa. She swallowed a little, feeling somewhat out of place in this very luxurious store. She wondered silently if she should step out and wait for the male outside instead.
"I'll be done soon. You can look around if you'd like," Leon looked back and said with a kind smile after seeing an awkward Vanessa standing near
