Flashback

“Sorry for skipping the dinner with your family last night,” Taeyeon protruded her lips when Jessica came to see her at the site. Taeyeon and some of her friends are getting a musical project from their department as soon as they graduated

“That’s fine,” Jessica caressed Taeyeon’s hand, “Come on, eat first.” Jessica opened the lunchbox which she prepared before. Taeyeon had the break and Jessica texted her before if she wanted to bring the latter dinner

“Thank you,” Taeyeon smiled widely when Jessica offered the chopstick. A simple set of meal consisted of black pepper beef, rolled eggs and kimchi. But rather than that, Taeyeon loves how Jessica spares her time for cooking this; after sent her parent to the airport

“Taeyeon-ah, how about the Uncle Lee’s offer?” Jessica asked while opened the bottle of water to Taeyeon

“Oh, Lee Sooman? I thought of accepting it. It’s been good for coming back to Korea.”

“That’s good. I will come back to Korea too.”

“Oh, really? Finally,” Taeyeon smiled upon the news. Before the graduate, Jessica once said that she wanted to have her career in US. But now, she wanted to back to Korea

“My parent has asked me about marriage,” said Jessica suddenly, “I said I have a girlfriend already.”

“Oh?” the news indeed surprised Taeyeon. They had dated for three years and Taeyeon, unfortunately, never meet Jessica’s parent, “What did they say?”

“They say it would be fine,” Jessica shrugs her shoulders, “I was asking for the further information but Dad won’t tell me anything.”

“Maybe they want you to be settled,” Taeyeon put the bottle, “Sica, do you want to wait for me?”

“Sure,” Jessica replied with a smile, “I want to be Kim Taeyeon’s wife.”

“Hahaha, okay Mrs. Kim,” Taeyeon chuckled. She wants to spend more time with Jessica but her supervisor called her for the next scene

“Go back to your schedule, Tae. I’ll be home,”

“I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”

“Okay, Taeyeon. Don’t forget to drink more water.”

“Yes Ma’am,” Taeyeon saluted. After Jessica put the stuffs completely, she leans closer to pecks Taeyeon’s cheek

“See you, Taengoo.”

“See you, later!”

Taeyeon actually sensed that something was off from her girlfriend since that day. It’s like Jessica was hiding something from her. But being the considerate one, Taeyeon choose to wait for Jessica tell her

But Jessica didn’t tell anything until they are going back to Korea after a month

Jessica helped Taeyeon to find a new apartment because Lee Sooman will officially open his agency in the two months, so Taeyeon needs to prepare

After all, Taeyeon still sensed Jessica was hiding something

“Are you going to work under your Dad?” Taeyeon asked when they have dinner. Taeyeon stated the obvious, since Mr. Jung is a Chief Prosecutor of Seoul Office. Both of Jessica’s parent are working in law subject, her mother is a lecture in Law School of Yonsei University

“No,” Jessica shook her head, “It would be uncomfortable if people find out that Jonathan Jung is my father, and I work under him.”

Taeyeon nods absentmindedly. One thing that she likes on Jessica the most is the latter willingly drop every privilege that she’s easily gets with her parent’s power. She could enroll to Yonsei without test but she refused. When she failed to get the scholarship to Colombia, she also refused to be helped by her Dad for getting another scholarship

“I applied to Gangnam Prosecutor Office. I knew even I said no for having my Dad help, he would help me,” Jessica pouted

“I’m sure your Dad know the fairness limit,” Taeyeon takes Jessica’s hand and caresses her palm with her thumb, “He knows you.”

“I hope so,” Jessica smiled upon Taeyeon’s gentle and caring nature

Taeyeon still had the odd feel lingering on Jessica. She couldn’t guess what’s behind this. But on other side, she won’t make Jessica feels pressured by her curiosity

It’s been one month, and suddenly Taeyeon got the news. It’s from their high school friend, Luna. She texted Taeyeon and asked if Taeyeon and Jessica were no longer together because she heard Jessica is engaged to Kwon Yuri

Taeyeon called her friend immediately, “Where did the news come from?”

“Oh, I worked in Fantagio,” Luna mentioned one agency and if Taeyeon not mistaken, Yuri’s family owned it, “I heard from my senior and all of the office talked about it. I asked you because the last time I know, Jessica and you are together.”

“Thank you for the information, Luna.” Taeyeon ends the call. She needs to see Jessica. Last night, Jessica’s phone was off and Taeyeon thought the latter is tired because she said that she has so many things to do in the afternoon

Taeyeon was about to out when Jessica appears on her door

“Taeyeon…” Jessica looks breathless, seems like she’s running over

“Luna called me and told me about the engagement,” said Taeyeon straightly, “What does it mean?”

“Taeyeon, listen to me. Both of our parents were misunderstood.”

“Is this the reason why you never took me to see your parent even I already in Seoul?” Taeyeon asked with her eyes b. Her heart is breaking apart

“No, Taeyeon. It’s not like that,” Jessica pleaded, “Please listen to me.”

“Enough Jessica,” Taeyeon pushed Jessica from entering her apartment, “I won’t listen to your excuse. Hyomin and Jiyoung were right, I’m not suitable for being your partner,” Taeyeon mentioned some of their friends who badmouthed them before, “Yuri is richer. Your parent knew her.”

“Taeyeon, stop it!” Jessica knows Taeyeon still had the insecurities

“You don’t need to lower your standard because of me, Jessica.”

“What happened with ‘Sica’?” Jessica trembled, her tears are uncontrollable

“Stop it,” Taeyeon smiled meekly, “I won’t bear this heartbreak. You can just go and happy with Yuri. Good bye, Jessica Jung.” Taeyeon slowly closes her door. She can’t see Jessica anymore or she would lose her defense.

Even though she heard Jessica’s low whimpers across the door
