Eleven: Flashback
The ContrarianLost on the first trial, it’s a common thing for a new prosecutor. But, it would be different if all of the eyes were on you, and it happened to Jessica. All of the people who work in the law field in Seoul know her. And also, many people were looking up into her performance because Jonathan Jung is a great prosecutor, after all
That’s why the news of Jessica’s failed trial was spread in a short time.
“It’s not like the end of the world, Baby,” Taeyeon tried to cooed her girlfriend. Jessica often heard about people looking down at her because of the failed case
“I know…” Jessica sighed. Taeyeon reaches forward and pulls her into a hug. She pecked Jessica’s forehead lovingly and let the younger girl snuggled to her neck, “I’m afraid it could affect you.”
“Me?” Taeyeon raised her eyebrows before chuckled lightly, “You don’t need to be afraid,” Taeyeon hugs her tighter. She caressed Jessica’s hair lovingly, the old habit from their college days when Jessica feels down, Taeyeon would hug her into sleep and let Jessica poured her feeling
“I think Tiffany hates me,” said Jessica when Taeyeon thinks she’s already asleep. Taeyeon moves slightly to see Jessica’s face and tilts her head
“Why?”
“She congratulated me after the trial,” Jessica replied, “She’s the attorney in charge.”
“Ah… I wonder? Maybe she… yeah, I can’t answer it,” Taeyeon pecks Jessica’s forehead, “Sica, even if Tiffany is my ex, I haven’t keep in contact with her since we broke up.”
“It’s okay, Tae,” Jessica pats Taeyeon’s cheek before pecks her lips, “I just wondering why she hates me. She won the trial. It should be me who hate her; she made people talking about me in a bad way.”
“It’s okay, Sica. You don’t need to hate her.”
“I don’t know,” Jessica sighed, “I felt so suffocated after met her.”
“Maybe, because of the trial,” Taeyeon tried to stop the conversation, “Let’s talk about something fun, like our preparation of the wedding?”
“Ah, you are right,” Jessica smiled, and they discuss their preparation for the wedding. At least, after Jessica’s lousy day at work, they still have something to look upon in the future.

“Jessica is expecting a baby,” Mrs. Kwon called Yuri, who is still driving after her work
“I know,” Yuri sighed. It’s been one year after Jessica’s marriage, but people around her are still bugging about her status. She’s okay with her single day. She had a plan to get married if she wants to, and not in a rush for it
“I need to buy something for her first children,” Yuri thinks. It’s already late, and Yuri was driving with the mild speed, but suddenly, someone with the bicycle cut her way. Yuri stepped to the break immediately, but it’s too late. Her car hit the person, resulting in she swifts the steer abruptly to the left and hit the fence
“The cycler wants to sue you due to careless drive,” said Mrs. Kwon. Yuri got stitched on her lower stomach, but the cycler got fractured on his arm.
“Let’s deal with the lawyer,” said Yuri, “But not with Dad’s lawyer. It would make chaos if Lawyer Kim takes the case,” Yuri explained
“I know you will like this,” Mr. Kwon sighed, “Lawyer Kim gave me the name of Law Firm. It’s new, but the CEO is Lawyer Kim’s friend.”
“I’ll come by tomorrow,” said Yuri while takes the name card from her father, “I’m fine, Dad. You can assign your driver to me.”
“Okay, then. You need to rest because the cycler’s family seems mad when they heard about the accident.”
“That was partly my fault,” Yuri replied, “But put all the blame to me was a little outrageous.”
“Good luck,” Mrs. Kwon patted Yuri’s shoulders, “If you need help, just call us.”
“Okay, Mom.”

Yuri entered the office. The sign of “Sullivan Law Firm” with the orange color greets her in the front
“Good morning, welcome to Sullivan. Can I help you?” a woman, looks like the receptionist, greets Yuri with her gummy smile
“Ah, I want to meet CEO Yoo,” Yuri replied
“Do you have an appointment today?”
“I’m not sure,” Yuri smiled, “My Dad recommended me to see him.”
“Ah, are you Kwon Jungjae’s daughter?” suddenly, someone from inside greeted her, “Kim Minki has called me this morning. Come on inside.”
“Ah, thank you,” Yuri bowed to the receptionist and followed CEO Yoo inside
“Minki is my friend back at college,” said CEO Yoo
“Ah, I see, CEO Yoo,”
“Just call me uncle,” CEO Yoo laughed, “Yoo Yoonseok, nice to meet you, Kwon Yuri.”
“Nice to meet you too, Uncle Yoo,” Yuri smiled to the hospitality
“Ah, let me introduce you to the best gem of our firm,” Yoonseok knocked on the door and opened it, “Miss Hwang, this is the client for you.”
“Ah, thank you, CEO Yoon,” the Hwang girl put something on her tray before looked up to see the guest
“Kwon Yuri?”
“Tiffany Hwang?”
“Oh, you guys know each other?” Yoonseok pointed back and forth between the women, “Okay then, I’ll let you guys discuss the case. Have a nice day!”
“What a pleasant coincidence,” said Yuri after the receptionist served her the coffee
“Is it?” Tiffany shrugs her shoulders and takes a seat across Yuri, “Well, technically, we are only high school friend.”
“I saw you at the reunion,” Yuri sips her coffee, “And also, I heard about you from people around me.”
“If you knew me before, why did you look so surprised?”
“I never heard about the firm, though,” Yuri replied, “I only knew you beat Jessica down on her first trial.”
“It happened over a year,” Tiffany shook her head; her face looks so unpleasant, “Actually, I kinda happy because of that.”
“Why?”
