Despite all the intellectual and physical attributes she has been blessed with, Yoojung is cursed with bad luck. She never wins random prize draws. She always run to a black cat and trips on a flat ground. She doesn't have luck in love either. No matter how unlucky she is, isn't that a bit too much? To have the man who have witnessed her get wasted, took her drunk to his place, to whom she had disrespectfully shut down, as the same man that's going to be her new boss, is just cruel. She have shown her irresponsible side to him, have shown herself as an officer who gets drunk and pass out in a public place, which also means that her boss have noted her irresponsibility. Kill me. "I thought you were a bartender," she questions, still feeling the whole situation absurd. "I do part time now and then," Seokjin answers smoothly, body leaning on the edge of the desk, arms crossed and that amused smirk never leaving his face. "So, this whole time- you knew?" He chuckles. "From the moment the news of an officer shooting a kidnapper out in public, yes." Yoojung is at loss for words. "I gotta say, that was some way to handle a public disturbance." The policewoman gulps, turning her head to function again. "Detective Jung, reporting for duty, Sir." Her hands are sweaty, eyes unfocused. The only thing running in her mind is the danger of her inappropriate conduct, even if it is during off work, to reach the big bosses, and use it against her along with her already filled trouble report. Kim Seokjin only smiles more. "Don't worry, Officer Choi. What happened last night will remain a secret between us." Yoojung hears murmurs and soft thuds behind the door and she's sure the young officers are eavesdropping outside. Just great. "You're starting anew in my department. I'd like you to feel comfortable." She doubts the man's words, but he sounds honest of what he's saying. "Really?" "Yes, really." The Head smiles a bit larger and Yoojung eases up. Maybe, he isn't so bad as she thinks he is. "Now, you must have met three of my kids." "Excuse me?" "Kids. Those officers outside," Seokjin explains and shifts his head to the door. "Who should be doing their jobs right now!" He yells, directing to the said policemen behind the door. They hear curses, exclamations and the sound of shoes screeching on the floor. Shadows past the window and out of view. Seokjin laughs while shaking his head. "Sorry about that." Yoojung doesn't reply, fascinated of how easygoing this new boss of hers looks like. How did someone so young even became a head officer of a whole department? Speaking of which, what does the department deals with? It is a small station after all, with a single jail cell and few officers guarding. For a police station this small and unknown placed in the middle of a popular busy city, something doesn't match right to her. Seokjin goes around his desk and sits on his chair, organizing the papers in front of him. "I'd like to introduce you to the rest of the crew, but sadly, they're out working at the moment. They would be here later tonight so maybe stay around?" "Oh." As someone in position above Yoojung's rank, the way he talks so kindly and almost friendly is completely new to her. Her former boss, from the very first day, demonstrated his power of his high rank to her, putting her in place as a first year officer, an amateur, an inexperienced little moth. Even if that was three years ago, her boss never changed. This new boss of hers who she's sure is the same rank as his former boss, is a lot more laidback, all smiles and definitely much younger. Yoojung thinks she may actually like this new department. "So, uh, what kind of cases do you deal with?" The young man looks up from his pile of papers and grins. Yoojung finally sees how this transfer is a punishment. Fraud. Theft. Embezzlement. Assault. These are the main crimes the small unit handles. This translates in Yoojung's head as a door-to-door man offering good deals of investment and turning out as scam, a manager accusing an employee of stealing a few bills from the cash register, and two drunken girls turned in for a cat fight. She should have known from the moment her chief tells her of the unit's name, a name she never heard of from her workplace. A ridiculous name for a detective unit that she have long forced out of her head. A small unit like this can't be handling serious cases. Not that Yoojung thinks these are petty crimes, but this isn't her usual field of work. She have dealt with more morbid files, worked alone on catching a and murderer, worked months catching a serial killer, even worked on a case of a male celebrity who killed his own wife. These dangerous missions are her expertise, blood pumping in thrill excitement of catching a dangerous man and serve justice to the victims. Not like the one they are dealing with now, two teenagers who is turned in for a brawl fight. The two boys, face bruised and swollen, are now hugging behind the bars, crying and applogizing for their mistakes, promising to never fight again. The new police internally groans from her desk, head lolling back her chair. "Please tell me this doesn't happen all the time." "Oh it does," Jimin answers instantly, dragging a chair to sit next to her. Jungkook is by the desk, laughing hysterically over something on his phone. Taehyung's already passed out by the bench next to the cell, mouth wide open and drool dripping from the corner of his mouth. Jimin laughs as Yoojung shoots him a pleading look, praying that he's really just kidding. "There's lots of teens turned in here every night. We let them go after their guardians come get them." The woman slams her head on her desk. When are they getting an actual case? "They remind me of myself when I was young," Jimin starts. "Which wasn't that long ago actually. Oh! You know, when I was sixteen, I used to go out at night with my friends. It was fun, I'll tell ya…" Yoojung zones him out. She really hopes they get an actual job soon. Yoojung runs and complains to her best friend about her work once again. She narrates everything, from the moment she wakes up until she realizes that her career is over. (An exaggeration, but she feels it's the same.) "Hold up a sec," Nara stops her, hands on the air as she leans her body at Yoojung who shuts in surprise. "How hot is your boss are we talking about?" The policewoman rolls her eyes and shoves Nara's face away. "Out of everything I told you, that's all you got?" "If your boss is hot, why complain?" "That's not the case!" "Ah, but you're not denying that he is hot," Nara mused, adding more to Yoojung's frustration. "You're no help. I'm kicking you out." She grabs Nara by her arm and begins dragging her to the door. "Wait! Wait!" Nara protest and her best friend does pause. "Can you give me his number?" Yoojung is completely done with her idiot of a best friend. Less enthusiastic, or not at all, Yoojung goes to her job the next morning, greeting the young officers inside without looking up. "Oh, so you're the transfer?" Yoojung can't put a face on the voice and the baritone and rough tone doesn't seem to match the people she have met. Not even Taehyung who do speaks in bass voice to her a few times. She looks up in alarm and finds a tall man with big sunglasses standing behind the desk, next to the young coworkers. Who is he? "Hi," the new person greets with a wave. "Seokjin didn't tell you about me?" The sole woman stands there at loss for words, a tad intimidated by the tallest man with the deep deep voice. "Ya, Seokjin!" The unnamed man hollered surprisingly loud. "Hyung, Jin-hyung's gonna kill you," Jimin says with a laugh. It doesn't take long until the said man comes out of his office, smiling at Yoojung. "Morning, Officer Cho," the Chief greets and before Yoojung can greet him back, he's slapping the back of the foreign man's head. "What did you call me?" The man grins stupidly at Seokjin. "You'll come out quicker if I just call you by your name, sir." Seokjin glares at him and turns to the still confused Yoojung. "Officer Cho, this is Kim Namjoon, my right hand and partner." Finally snapping out of her confusion, Yoojung bows politely at both of his seniors. "Hello." Namjoon nods his head in satisfaction. "It's great to finally have a lady in the team." For an odd reason, Taehyung squeals behind them. "Hyung! I was thinking that too!" Hearing this, the sole woman was ready to threaten the guys with her gun. Whatever dirty thoughts they are thinking about her in their head of theirs, Yooju
