Seriously. It's the middle of the day. The street is packed with the working crowd and the sun is blaring. If Yoojung has a choice, she wouldn't be out there, with a gun in her hands, finger on the trigger, and the gun's mouth pointed at her target. There's panicked shrieks and hurried footsteps as people scram to clear the place. The police siren cries somewhere close in the vicinity. The man in pursuit has captured a woman as his hostage, knife on the terrified woman's throat while bony hand grips around her shoulders. The man is equally in distress, eyes panickingly scanning the crowd, hold tighter around his hostage, then back at Yoojung. The police woman curses in her head. Backup is on the way, but she doesn't think she can hold in for that long. It's too early for this crap, she thinks with her teeth grinding. She just wants to get this over with and go back to the office to at least finish her coffee that by then's probably already cold. If the bastard just went with her to the station when she showed up in his door with a warrant of arrest presented in his face, it would have gone down way easier. Not ending up with her chasing for a guilty convict for straight five minutes until they reached the public crowd and now the guy just had to take an innocent person as his hostage. Great. Just great. "Come on, Youngwoon," she starts, ignoring the headache that starts to pound on the front of her head. "Let the lady go and we can all go home peacefully." "I- I didn't do it!" the man sputters, backing a step and dragging the woman who whimpers. Yoojung wants to roll her eyes, but she holds it in. "So why are you running away?" "You're gonna put me in jail for something I didn't do!" Where the hell is her backup? She really doesn't want to deal with this any longer. I'll give them ten seconds. Just ten seconds. If there's traffic back to the office, Yoojung promises she'll smash the guy's face. This is all his fault, making her job harder. She has tons of things to do and there she is, stuck with a man who causes public disturbance rather than defending himself to the interrogators back in the station. "Look, I just need you to come with me and tell me everything you know. If you really didn't kill Ms. Jung, then you got nothing to be scared of, right?" "You- You're not gonna believe me anyway!" the man yells, pressing the knife on the woman's throat. Five seconds. No time for persuasion. Gotta hurry it up. "Youngwoon. Let go of the woman or I will shoot," she threatens, putting another finger on the trigger which visibly scares the man, as well as the hostage. Three seconds. "No!" Three. Two. "I'll kill this woman if you even-" One. The bullet hits the suspect's hand as he screams in pain, letting go of the woman and dropping the knife altogether. He holds his bleeding hand, falling on his knees as he cries in horror. She really did shot him. Right on time, the police officers rush to handcuff the man, glancing at Yoojung. Two officers help the innocent hostage, guiding her out of the scene radar and to the ambulance parked close. The crowd starts to close in, hoping to get some look at the crime scene. Police starts to round up the curious audience away while paramedics rushes to treat the injured convict. Yoojung looks up the sky and thinks god, it's so hot today. The thick envelope slams on the desk. Yoojung bites her lip, knowing what's coming. "What were you thinking?!" Her boss yells from the top of his lungs, face red as a tomato. "He was holding a hostage! What if you shot the woman instead, huh?!" She huffs, shaking her head. "But she didn't! I had to shoot him before it drags on. Who knew-" "Yes, who knows what will happen. You didn't know either! One wrong angle and you could had shot an innocent person dead." "I know what I was doing." "And may I remind you that you are not allowed to hurt any convicted people. Once we take them to custody, they are under our protection, bad guys or not." "He posed a threat-" "And you took your own judgement without waiting for enforcement." Okay. Yoojung knows she is partly in fault too. She knew the guy won't do anything. She could have wait a few more seconds before reinforcement arrives and shock the man to unconsciousness. That would have imposed less harm than actually shooting him. But in her defense, they were taking too long and she did warn the man she will shoot. "You should had thought before you acted. It was out in public too with everyone to see!" Yoojung scoffs mentally. This old flab just cares about public exposure. Not that it makes any difference. The public already have bad opinions about the police department. "Sorry, sir. It won't happen again." Not if she can't help it. Her boss sighs, rubbing his forehead to relieve stress. "This is the third time in the month that you had caused trouble." That's right. It's just one of her many trouble cases that ends up with her Head Detective rubbing either his neck or his forehead out of stress. She has tackled a suspect and caused destruction of private properties. She have broken traffic laws for chasing a runaway car and almost caused an accident. And now, she pulled the trigger in front of public eyes in a critical situation involving an innocent life. Her boss straightens up, looks him in the eyes and Yoojung can feel a bad predicament coming with the way he looks. "The big bosses talked about it and had made a decision." "Whoa- wait. Hold on, what are you-" "Detective Cho Yoojung. You are being transferred to another detective unit. You are dismissed." The music is loud and obnoxious in Yoojung's ears. Add up the chatters and the crowd of dancing drunken people behind her. There's only the booze that she can't even handle that well as her companion. "Well, you should had thought of it first before shooting the poor dude." And there's her best friend, Nara, who is failing at becoming a moral support at the moment. She downs a glass, the drink burning and hitting her head just right with buzz. The bartender whistles somewhere, Yoojung either ignoring it or doesn't hear it. "They should be thankful out of all those people I pursued, none got away. If they fail in catching a murderer next time, they better not run to me." Nara rolls her eyes, curled brown hair bouncing along with her moves. There's a guy giving her a suggestive look. Nara winks back before coming back to Yoojung. "They just transferred you. It's still a detective unit. I mean, how bad could it be than being laid off, right?" Yoojung ponders about the good and bad coming out of her punishment. Usually, transfers as punishment never is good news. Especially when the unit she's being put at is a group she never heard about. What could the unit possibly be handling? "Hey ladies," a smooth voice comes behind them, hands placed on the small of their backs. The two girls turn around and Nara smiles. It's the man she's flirting with. However, before she can even say hi back, Yoojung just have to scare him away. The tough officer swiftly takes out he
