Though the classroom walls are bare the windows are large. There is this girl who is always beside a window seat enjoying the extricated light of the morning. Her eyes were looking at the world but mine unfailingly land on her.
Bae Joohyun. The girl who caught a lot of hearts with her striking natural beauty.
The sunlight shone through the window reflecting substantially her beautiful face like it was something for all to see. Her eyes were closed as the wind blew gently her face.
She looked peaceful, the serenity consuming her.
I watched her from afar, trying to connect certain thoughts.
Every time she would always wear the same expression, the kind of one who seemed to be composed, maybe wary to involve herself with anyone. And that got me wondering if she ever smiles genuinely or just what kind of person she really is.
“Look it's Suho sunbaenim! What is he doing here?”
Without realizing, I noticed Suho; the most popular senior of the school fidgeting in front of her with sweat dripping on his forehead. The whole class went silent watching carefully the scene unfold in front of them, however, Joohyun still didn't spare him a glance as her face was still relishing the breeze before he speaks up nervously. “Hum... Joohyun-ssi...”
She leisurely diverted her eyes towards the source of the voice and his panic intensifies, probably affected by the perturbing doe-eyes. The beautiful girl still didn't mutter a sound albeit she was listening.
“I would like to know... I mean... I heard that you..." He scratches his neck in distress and pulls out two tickets of his pocket, "I got these tickets for BOA concert and I know you like her so I wanted... well I wondered if you wanted to go with me.” He gulped down a massive lump after being a stuttered mess and Irene just looked at him without any reaction visible on her stunning face.
“Mmh?”The thing about Joohyun that I find endearing is that she speaks like she hears her voice ten times louder than everyone else does, it was so soft and delicate.
However, her speaking was rather blunt and short.
"I got a VIP place!”
“What is your point here?”
“I j-just thought it would be nice to hang out together and all.”
"So you're asking me on a date?"
"Um-what? No-I mean yes."
Joohyun smiled lightly and that soothe the boy's expression for awhile thinking that it was a good sign. “I'm rather busy...Sorry. I'm sure someone else would like to take my place”
His face fell, not expecting anyone would ever reject him. “O-okay.” He left the classroom looking shattered followed by some whispers from the students who witnessed the whole scene. Many people blamed her insensitive and cold behavior after she rejected endless propositions and some of them even categorized her as an attention seeker. Joohyun was like that boring girl who just had a pretty face nothing more so she wasn't worth the chasing at all, even more, if she just acts like a "rude" person.
But I saw her as an honest person. She didn't look like she had an ounce of bad intentions. See the thing about her is that she doesn't live to someone's expectations, she doesn't seem the type to string people along and give false hopes. I can't tell if the rumors affect her or not but what I'm sure of it's she doesn't lose herself in the expectations of others. I never saw her lonely, not that she wasn't ever alone. When she was by herself she wasn't looking for company, like she was so much more comfortable in her own skin than the rest of us.
It doesn't mean she thrives for being alone either, she'd talk to anyone and everyone who approached her, she didn't care if they were popular or not. For me, she was something of an "independent" rather than a reject. She has intelligent things to say and an attitude that was somehow more mature than the rest of us. She knew who to trust and who to be casual with.
That said, I found her interesting, captivating not to mention beautiful and admirable. It hasn't been a long time since I got into this school but I wanted to get close to her.
The teacher walks in interrupting my unflagging thoughts.
(…)
The school was empty as everyone already went home.
It was getting pretty late as I stayed after the end of classes just to finish filling some administration papers. I walk along the deathly silent hallways contemplating a chill night that probably involves pringles and watching some drama after this tiring day at school.
I haltered my steps when I spot two-person standing in front of the entrance, most precisely beside the lockers.
I don't know why but I instinctively press myself against the wall.
What even...
I peeked hesitantly and recognized one familiar face right away but honestly, it's like she was a stranger to me... The expression she was wearing wasn't the one we used to see. I bet no one has ever seen her like this.
Full of emotions and lively.
Remember how I've always wanted to see how her smile looked like and now I just
