For those who can, 
This contest will challenge you to find the balance between beauty and fear. 
For those who cannot,
Use this as a stockpile of intricate stories to feel delightfully unsettled.

Tokyo Smoke Writing Contest

Steps to enter

 

Authors must finish all of these steps in order to properly “check in”. Everyone who “checks in” will be eligible for special prizes and KP even if they do not win the overall contest.




1.

Read ALL rules before continuing. Failure to recognise or comply with the rules will lead to automatic disqualification.

 

2.

Comment below, subscribe to/Upvote this contest.

 

3.

Follow the tumblr ‘actualrice’ and dm your AFF username to contribute to the growth of future contests, receive extra prizes, and be advertised.

 

4.

Join the discord ‘the social hierarchy’ to keep up to date with rule changes, special prizes, or apply for editing/beta readers.






 

Tokyo Smoke Writing Contest

Rules


1.

All works will be judged based on author's ability to build worlds/characters. Grammar, spelling, and format will play a LARGE part in the judgement of the story itself. Authors may apply for beta readers/editors via Discord
 

2.

All characters, ships, and prompts are welcome. OC and OOC are both accepted for this contest. 
 

3.

If a particular work goes against AFF’s terms & conditions, the work may be written on another site. When the work is submitted, please detail the reason for posting elsewhere and provide a link to the work. .
 

4.

Any works suspected of plagiarism will be temporarily suspended while the work is investigated. This will not take the author out of running for the contest, but if the story is confirmed to be plagiarised the author will be disqualified from this contest and any other contests in the future.

 

6.

Winning works entered in this contest cannot be entered into any other contests in the future. Works that were submitted, but did not win may be re-entered into future contests as long as they apply to the theme. 


 

7.

All works must relate to the theme in some way. For insurance, you may PM me with your prompt idea and I will tell you if this follows the theme. I will NOT indicate whether or not I like the idea. This is to remain unbiased until the story is complete.


 

8.

All those who enter the contest will need to “check in”. This contest will take some time, and it is important for me to keep up with the authors. Once you have “checked in” , I will expect you to remain active in the contest. Should you choose to drop out of the contest, please let me know. Contestants who drop out of the contest without notice will have a strong disadvantage when entering other contests. 
 

9.

This contest has a CASH PRIZE. In order to receive this prize you will need access to payment platforms like: CashApp, Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle. There will be no other methods of receiving this cash prize. If you would like to enter and do not have access to these platforms, you may be able to redeem your prize in the form of K-pop albums and merchandise. 
 

10.

Only authors who properly  “check in” will be eligible for prizes. 

 

11.

This contest is a challenge to push your creativity. You are encouraged to take your time and try your best.

Hello~ I'm curious if the deadline (March 31st) is the entry deadline, or is that the deadline that entries need to be completed by?
I'm just wondering because if I have a little over a month to write an entry, than I need to figure that into the length (as in how many chapters) of my story ^^.

Second: Are entries open until an specific time or until the deadline?
Third: Is it okay if I follow the tumblr with a semi-defunct tumblr?

This seems very interesting. I haven’t written very many dark stories before so I’m down to try my hand at creating something eligible for this contest.

Is the theme "Tokyo Smoke"? Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with it.
Does it mean it has to be set in Japan?
As I understand, any genre and characters are fine, but it needs to be related to the theme, right?

So when someone wants to check in, see the prompts, and join the contes, do we have to join the discord? And what are the rules on maximum word count, preferred characters, favorite genres etc?
