The Nice OneThere was a cave everyone in his village was told to avoid. It was deep and dark, directed in a spot where light would not hit it. No one could see inside, not knowing what was ever in there. People avoided it like a plague except the younger generation where the stories of the old slowly lose grip on. Baekho was adventurous just as his friends were. They would run around the outskirts of the village until night and head back. Animal hybrids of all kind lived in the village from rats to lions. Baekho was a tiger hybrid with white ears and a black striped white tail showing themselves. His friends, the rabbit hybrid Ren, turtle hybrid Jonghyun and dog hybrid Aron often got into trouble for their little adventures but that didn't stop the rebellious teens from having their way.
"Where do you think we should explore today?" Ren asked with a huge grin as they ran through the forest together. Despite being a turtle hybrid, Jonghyun wasn't slow at all. He kept up with the rest of them just fine.
"Ooh. What do you guys think about the cave?" Aron asked with a mischievous tone. They gasped and exchanged glances. Baekho, being the biggest coward among them, started glancing back.
"I don't think that's a good idea. You know what the old folks say. If we enter it, we won't ever come out," He said nervously but his friends didn't listen to him. Instead they started talking about hidden treasures and the possibility of the things they might find inside. Baekho gulped as he continued following his friends, not wanting to be the only one backing out. They continued making their way through the forest and inching closer to the forest every so often.
Baekho gulped when the entrance covered with vines appeared. His friends started poking through the vines and chuckled to each other, whispering and glancing at Baekho who awkwardly stood a bit apart from them. Even though he could see in the dark, he couldn't see anything at all in the cave and that scared him.
"Hey, Baekho. Come closer," Aron said and motioned him over. Baekho groaned.
"No thanks, man."
"You gonna just stand out here then?" Jonghyun asked while pushing the vines aside.
"You guys are seriously going in? But the elde-" Before Baekho could complete his sentence, he felt a push behind him. He stumbled forward, right into the cave. He thought he would step on ground as he entered but instead, he fell.
So he screamed.
And so did his friends.
Darkness engulfed him.
He twitched, feeling sore in every inch of his body. His throat felt dry and his head was spinning but his eyes peeked open as he breathed in musky air surrounding him. He let out a small cough as he tried to move but realised he couldn't as if he was stuck. He noticed a small movement. A dark silhouette stood a few meters away from him, hands placed together and head facing downwards. Baekho's breath hitched when he noticed the shadowy figure had eight long sharp protruding legs appearing behind its back. His night vision didn't help at all with the darkness of the cave as if any shred of light was absorbed into it and that made him even more frightened. He turned his head with difficulty and tried to find for a way out. His body was trembling and he swallowed painfully but his movements seemed to alert the figure. Baekho turned back and whimpered when he saw the silhouette moved, a leg swinging and the sound of meat being stabbed made him wince. His stomach turned and he shut his eyes tightly, praying he was dreaming and this wasn't real. He didn't want to die. But oh, the scuttling sound was really real especially when it got louder and louder until it stopped abruptly but it made Baekho let out another unintentional whimper.
Silence.
Then he felt a cold breath beside him and that's when all panic broke loose in his mind. He started struggling, trying to move and pull himself out from the sticky substance that kept him in place. His voice came out in broken cries and whimpers until he felt something hard and sharp on his back. He froze immediately, trembling as he said incoherent words that was along the lines of please don't kill me. His tears were already escaping from his eyes without control and he swore he was going to piss his pants if he opened them too.
"Open your eyes," a voice said. It was cold and shook him deep in the bone. Baekho whimpered and shook his head. "Open it."
He let out sobs and tried to hide his face in fear instead. A cold stiff hand grabbed his chin and lifted it up, making him shiver.
"Please don't kill me," He squeaked in a tiny voice.
"Open it."
"I'm scared. I'm scared. Please. Please. I didn't mean to come in here," He pleaded but he felt his whole body lifting up instead and that made him shoot his eyes open to see what was going in. What he saw made him scream and tried to curl up to hide but he couldn't so he could only shut his eyes and cried for real. Sharp red eyes, 2 regular ones and six smaller ones at the side had stared back into his. Face ghastly pale. And a snarl so menacing that it made Baekho's knees want to buckle except now he was laying against the sticky stuff instead of on top. He sobbed, putting two and two together. He was stuck in a spider's lair and to make things worse, the owner was home. So this is why the older people didn't allow anyone into the cave and why no one ever came back either once they fell in.
"You didn't mean to but you're here anyways," the spider hybrid hissed in a venomous tone and Baekho didn't know how else to apologise or talk his way out of not getting eaten. He didn't even want to step near the cave. His friend had pushed him in, probably as a joke but now he was facing probable death.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," He repeated over and over until he felt his whole body bouncing front and back against the web.
"Shut up!"
He zipped his lips and tried not to let even a sob escape as he started choking on them instead. His heart was beating furiously and brain thumping like mad. He felt the weight on the web lift off and he guessed the hybrid had hopped off the web so he parted his lids slightly again but he was wrong as the spider hybrid now towered over him with all eight long legs spread around him like a cage trapping the helpless tiger hybrid who let out a choked cry. Baekho could barely even look at the other without his whole body seizing up and it wasn't that he was horrifying to look at but Baekho was pretty much a coward despite having tiger blood in him and being rather large in build too. His confidence never did grow up much like his physical. The silence apart from the sound of gentle wind and Baekho's own silent cries made the cave eerie and the spider hybrid all the more frightening. He felt a hand cupping his chin again, forcing his head to look forward. All he could think of then was his own death and the possibility of never meeting his loved ones again as he trembled before the spider hybrid.
"Am I scary?"
