Sleeping Bunny

Once Upon a Time (oneshots)

Sleeping Beauty

renamed Sleeping Bunny

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful prince. He was so beautiful that, at first, everyone was certain that he was a princess. They addressed him as such, until finally his parents got so fed up that they started executing anyone who called him one. And even though no one said it out loud, there were always lingering thoughts about their gorgeous prince.

But there was a witch who hated the beautiful prince. She had not been invited to his first birthday party, even though all the other witches were. Anger boiling in her one night, she cursed the prince in front of all the guests and his parents.

"If he ever touches a game controller after his twentieth birthday, he shall fall into an endless sleep!"

"You mean a coma?"

"Yes, a coma!" she snapped, glaring at the witty servant. And with that, she poofed away. His parents, frantic and afraid for their only heir's life, burned all the video games and controllers there were in the kingdom.

But even that wasn't enough. They knew somehow the witch would find him, so they took drastic measures - they sent him away to three fairies they knew would take care of their only son.

Jungsu, Heechul, and Jongwoon were the new appointed protectors of the prince.

Years passed, and the prince, whose name was Sungmin, grew up to be just as pretty as they thought him to be. ("Not as pretty as me, though," Heechul would often point out haughtily, causing Leeteuk to zap his mouth shut for the rest of the night.) He enjoyed singing and practicing martial arts out in the forest they lived in (neither of them know how he learned martial arts, though, or where he got the nunchucks.) Jongwoon had given him his beautiful voice when Sungmin was younger, actually. Heechul had given him even more beauty, if possible. And Jungsu bestowed upon him a couple of dance moves and the ability to be multi-talented.

Or, at least, that's what they would tell everyone later.

One day, when Sungmin was out collecting wood for the dinner fire, he stumbled upon a young man. He was leaning against a tree, his head tilted back and his eyes closed. Sungmin was stunned by how handsome he was (yes, Heechul was pretty, but not handsome). He wanted to move in closer, but he was afraid. Jungsu had told him to not talk to strangers in the wood.

Still, he watched from a distance, admiring the way the light hit the stranger's face in all the right ways. He wanted to move closer to touch his face, but before he could, he could hear Heechul screeching his name. Jumping up, he immediately ran back to the small cottage, his heart beating wildly, but not because of the run.

It was because the stranger's eyes had opened.

Sungmin was jumpy throughout dinner. He stayed silent, thinking about the stranger who, he could have sworn, looked right at him. He was torn between hoping he did and hoping he didn't.

When Heechul noticed (because Heechul noticed all), he asked what was wrong. Sungmin foolishly decided to ask about love, which blasted Heechul off about some lost love he was bitter over. "DON'T EVER FALL IN LOVE! They seduce you with fried rice and stupid accents and a terrible laugh, then they leave you the moment they can for their home town and never come back. I mean, sure, he calls every now and then, but it's not enough! IT'S NOT ENOUGH!" As Heechul was starting to laugh hysterically, Jungsu had to sedate him and put him to bed early.

It was Jongwoon and Sungmin then.

Jongwoon smiled gently, petting his turtle. "Don't be afraid of love, Minnie. It's kind and gentle, unlike what Heechul said. Just be sure not to break your heart, because that's a pain. But aside from that, it's truly a wonderful thing. I hope you may experience it soon, Minnie. You shouldn't have to be locked up like this anyway. So I say: go for it."

Sungmin smiled at the fairy. Jongwoon, as odd as he may be at times, was actually good at giving advice. With a light heart, Sungmin excused himself to bed. He fell asleep, dark brown eyes the last thing on his mind.

The next day, he sneeked away to see if his stranger was there.

He wasn't.

Disappointed at himself for being so foolish to believe he'd see him again, he started walking back, not nearly as half as much of a jump in his step as there was before. He was humming to himself when he heard singing. His ears perked up and he followed the voice, secretly wishing...

IT WAS HIM!

The stranger with the beautiful face had a beautiful voice!

Sungmin almost fainted at the sight (and sound) of his stranger. He watched as the stranger walked, hands stuffed in his pockets, singing freely. The birds seemed attracted to him ("back off!" Sungmin's mind yelled. "he's mine!) and everything stopped except for him.

He had to know his name.

Without thinking, Sungmin started singing with the stranger. He pretended not to notice when the stranger stopped singing and turned around, and he pretended as if he wasn't blushing when their eyes met and their gazes were locked.

Finishing out the song he knew even though he never heard it before, the stranger joined in at the last line.

When the song finished, the stranger was still looking at him. Sungmin was tempted to run away (this was way scarier than he planned it to be), but before he could, the man spoke.

"My name's Kyuhyun."

His voice... wow, his voice.

"S-Sungmin," he replied, still trying to recover from the gorgeous man's presence.

"So, Sungmin," he said, smiling wryly. Sungmin almost collapsed. "You finally approached me."

Sungmin blinked. Huh? "What do you mean?" he asked, frowning.

"Well, it's just that you were watching me yesterday as I was sleeping, so I figure you must do it everyday -"

"I DO NOT!" If Sungmin thought this Kyuhyun stranger was worth paying attention to earlier, he was obviously wrong. He was a total jerk!

Kyuhyun smirked. "Defensive much?"

"I - you - I do not - " Sungmin spluttered, speechless at what to say to the newfound-snarky stranger.

"I leave you speechless, don't I?"

"UGH!"

Then Kyuhyun started laughing, and just like that, Sungmin suddenly forgot about all the annoying things the man had said to him. His laugh was like velvet you could hear, and Sungmin wanted to wrap it up and tuck it into his pocket. It was so...

"Entranced by my beauty?"

... nevermind.

"No," Sungmin snapped, crossing his arms. "I don't even know what I'm doing here -"

"You came to stare at me again, of course."

" - but I'm leaving now." He spun on his heels, planning to forget ever meeting Kyuhyun. Sure, his face will always be stuck in his memory (he can't help that), but he'll forget his name, his attitude, and all else. He'll dream about a stranger with a handsome face and beautiful voice, and that's it. But before he could get far, said stranger extended his arm and pulled him back. Curse long limbs. CURSE THEM!

"Aw, but the fun was just beginning," Kyuhyun said, his lips formed into some sort of smirk that Sungmin wanted to hit off of his face. "I didn't bring anything to read this time, because I thought you'd be much more interesting." Sungmin tried his hard to fight the flush coming up his neck. He failed. "I promise to stop poking fun at you..."

"Really?" Sungmin asked dryly, crossing his arms once more in disbelief.

"Well, I won't do it as often," Kyuhyun tried.

With a sigh - although Sungmin wasn't that reluctant because he didn't have anything else to do either and Kyuhyun's face was just too nice to turn away from - he fell into the pile of leaves that made a somewhat comfortable seat for him. A grinning Kyuhyun joined by his side, his legs crossed.

Neither of them were aware of the crow's eyes watching them.

-

Days passed and Kyuhyun repeatedly snuck away from his parents to meet Sungmin, much to the latter's delight. Jungsu was beginning to worry about his "son", but Jongwoon told him not to worry. He had no idea why he was listening to Jongwoon of all people, but he decided he trusted Sungmin to not get into trouble.

The two became closer with each meeting. When Sungmin found out Kyuhyun was younger, he immediately abused his rights as the eldest of the two. When Kyuhyun found Sungmin's pink bunny that he had forgotten to take out of his backpack, he turned the tables. In time, though, their relationship became that of two equals.

Sungmin enjoyed talking to - and starting at - Kyuhyun. He often brought snacks for the two, although Kyuhyun ate most of them. Not that Sungmin really minded, as he was trying to watch his figure. ("For what," Kyuhyun snorted, scarfing down a chocolate cake slice. Sungmin only glared at him.)

One day, Kyuhyun brought his iPod. Sungmin was intrigued by it. He'd seen Jongwoon with one once, but the older never let Sungmin listen to it himself. He always put it on speakers whenever he was around though, and the two would sing to ballads and cheesy pop songs, much to Heechul's disdain. ("I don't care how beautiful your voices are - I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THEM AT SIX IN THE MORNING!" he once yelled at the top of his lungs in the morning, probably alarming all the nearby animals.)

"You know what this is, right?" Kyuhyun teased, untangling the earphones.

Sungmin smacked his arm. "Of course. It plays music."

Kyuhyun clapped mockingly, and Sungmin raised his hand to smack him again, but Kyuhyun cowered in fear and that was enough for Sungmin. He took the offered earphone, but not knowing what to do with it, just kept it in his hands.

Kyuhyun stared at him. "Well?"

"What?"

"Are you going to put it in?"

"In what?"

"Your ear."

"Why would I do that?"

Kyuhyun almost face-palmed. "Aish, just give it to me." He snatched it from the older's hands and leaned over to place it Sungmin's left ear, his hand brushing his cheek, causing Sungmin to shiver. Kyuhyun pulled back, biting a grin at the response, and Sungmin looked away, annoyed with himself.

The younger pressed a button and suddenly music was streaming directly into Sungmin's ear. He found it quite magical, his jaw growing slack for only a moment before he saw Kyuhyun staring at him, amused, and immediately straightened himself up. He hated how Kyuhyun made him feel like a fool.

Sungmin knew the song that was playing. Jongwoon sang it to him sometimes, and now that Sungmin thought about it, the voice sounded awfully familiar...

"That's you!" he suddenly exclaimed, practically jumping in place from his realization as he pointed at the amused man before him.

"Yep. Do you know this song?"

Sungmin nodded, smiling brightly. He loved this song! To prove his point, he began singing the next few lines, losing himself in the music, closing his eyes softly as he did. He was unaware of the awed stares he was receiving from the other.

When the song finished and Sungmin opened his eyes again, Kyuhyun was much closer. No longer staring at his eyes, he was focused on somewhere else on his face - somewhere lower and pinker.

"Wh-What are you doing?" Sungmin asked, his voice shaking without him meaning to. What was this feeling in the pit of his stomachs? It felt terribly wonderful.

"You -"

And, just to prove that Sungmin's luck was the worse, Kyuhyun's phone went off. That happened often, actually. Someone would call Kyuhyun on that magical device of his (where did the voice come from?!)  and Kyuhyun would apologize for having to leave, sounding actually genuine and disappointed.

But this time, Sungmin really didn't want Kyuhyun to leave.

Still, he knew from the way Kyuhyun's voice became lower and his eyes dropped to the ground that the other would have to leave. He prepared to go himself, back to his boring home with his crazy care-takers. As he was packing, he heard Kyuhyun stand up. He looked up, and there he was, just standing there. Sungmin pulled himself up, slinging his bag over his shoulder.

"Tomorrow?"

Kyuhyun shook his head. Sungmin's heart fell.

"Oh." Sungmin refused to let his disappointment show on his face, though he probably failed.

"Tonight."

Sungmin blinked. "What?"

He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. Sungmin stared at it, confused.

"What is this for...?"

"My concert. Well, it's not mine. It's a lot of other artists, too. I think you'll like the music, although you'll probably like me the most." Kyuhyun winked, and Sungmin would have argued had it not been true.

"You..."

"Please come?"

Sungmin looked up from the paper, surprised at the sudden change in tone. Just a moment ago, he was teasing Sungmin, but now, he sounded almost desperate to have Sungmin come and see him perform.

And Sungmin, as hard as he may try, could never really say no to Kyuhyun. He failed since day one.

"Okay." His voice was barely a whisper.

Kyuhyun smiled and leaned over, placing his lips softly on Sungmin's cheek, and pulling back with bright eyes. Sungmin stared, wide eyes, as Kyuhyun left with a merry wave.

When Sungmin returned back home and Heechul asked where he had been, Sungmin's reply was, "I fell in love." Jungsu collapsed right then and there, Heechul became hysteric once more ("RESIST THE BEJING FRIED RICE! RESIST IT!"), and Jongwoon, who usually was the oddball, had to sedate Heechul. Then, he walked over and smiled softly at Sungmin.

"I trust you," was all he said.

Sungmin didn't understand, but that never mattered with Jongwoon. His words touched the heart, not the mind.

Sungmin set out for the city that evening for the very first time in his life.

-

Things changed as Sungmin was growing up. Kings and queens of magical kingdoms, such as the one Sungmin belonged to, went into hiding, surrounding themselves with magical borders that shielded normal human beings from them. City life grew, and with it, the kingdoms grew smaller and smaller.

Sungmin never knew any of this though. He only knew the woods, the cottage, and his care-takers. Then Kyuhyun came along, and he became the only thing Sungmin cared to know of.

Still, Sungmin found his way, surprisingly. Many were eager to help out the beautiful boy dressed in odd clothes (who wore plaids these days anyway with faded jeans like that?), and the loud cheers and screams helped guide Sungmin once he was a mile away from the destination.

Sungmin was scared, in a way. Everything was louder, bigger, and more crowded. Sungmin was used to small, quiet places with no one there. He couldn't decide which one he liked more.

Once Sungmin was escorted into a VIP section (he had no idea what it was or how he got there, but it sure seemed a lot better than standing among the sweaty masses below), he took a seat right in front of the windows.

The concert carried on soon enough, much to his delight. There were bands and solo artists, and even dance performers. Sungmin was very entertained by the whole thing, practically on the edge of his seat throughout. But when Kyuhyun went up, Sungmin had to lean back. His heart was racing much too wildly by then.

Something about Kyuhyun being blown up by the screen behind him and his voice carrying for miles and miles seemed right to Sungmin. Such beauty should be shared, after all. And his voice sounded just as great as it did before, just as pure.

He was lost in the music in mere seconds.

So lost that he didn't notice the strange, cloaked person approaching him, a game console in hand. So lost that he didn't feel the cool plastic touch his palm, didn't feel himself becoming drowsier and drowsier. He didn't even know he collapsed, because the last thing on his mind was Kyuhyun. It was always Kyuhyun.

-

Jongwoon trusted Sungmin. Honestly, he did. But he did not trust the public and their evil, conniving ways (he's seen those reality shows!). So he followed Sungmin the entire time, shielded by his turtle shell. (He'd made it himself magically, an enlargened version of the one his pet had, so that it could allow him to become invisible to the normal human's eyes. They were too weak for such awesomeness.)

He saw the man approach Sungmin. He would've been able to stop him if only the shell wasn't so heavy, and he wasn't so stuffed full of complimentary sushi. It was always the sushi!

He watched as the beloved prince slumped in his seat and fell forwards, and Jongwoon got there in time to carry him. He whispered a distress spell to the others, and immediately, he was transported back to the castle.

The prince had fallen into a coma.

-

"I find it ironic how a game controller, the thing that causes teenage boys to lose their minds, causes our prince to fall asleep."

Everyone stared at the man.

"What? I was just saying!"

"Aish, will you shut up Jinki? This is serious."

"I know, but -"

"We don't have time for your gags!"

"It wasn't -"

"The oracle is coming to help us!"

"What could he possibly do?"

"I don't know, but he speaks English. That's pretty darn magical right there."

"... will you go away, Jinki?"

"Okay..."

No one missed his presence.

"He's here!"

"That's his knight, idiot!"

"... oh. Wait, no, he's right there! Behind the handsome man!"

"Oh, the pretty one!"

"Kevin!" a new voice yelled.

"Ah, Heechul. I see you failed in your duties."

"Not my fault the boy went and fell in love with a human."

"A human?" Kevin speculated.

"What's wrong with that?" he heard his knight, Eli, mutter.

"Nothing," he said calmly. "It's just a curious thing. You see, I just received a message from our Holy Guide, Siwon."

"Did he tell you he was planning to return my shirt anytime soon?" Heechul asked.

"... No. But he did say that there was a way to save your prince, and it involves a human."

"What about them?" Jungsu asked wearily. First the love thing, then the coma thing. He just couldn't catch a break.

"Apparently he says he can save Sungmin."

The whole room burst out laughing. "What could a human possibly do for our prince?!" a man yelled.

"Well, it's not the human, but the love he and the prince share."

"You mean..."

"Yes. True love's kiss should wake him up."

Heechul groaned. "Why is this land so damn cliched?"

"Well, then go and pick him up!" Eli said, a bit impatient with the whole scenario. He and Kevin were just about to go to the spa when these people called for his help. Tsk, the disadvantages of having an oracle as a boyfriend. They were always needed somewhere.

"But we don't know who he is," Jongwoon admitted.

"You said -"

"Well, yeah, I know what I said, but I never met him. I only know he's human because Sungmin went to the city to see him, but he ended up going to a concert." Jongwoon paused. "Wait a minute, during one of the performances, Sungmin seemed starstruck. Or maybe lovestruck. I don't know. I remember who he was, though, because I own his CD. It's Cho Kyuhyun!"

"The Cho Kyuhyun?" Eli asked, shocked. "How did Sungmin even meet him? He's supposed to have schedules all of the time!"

"I don't know," Jongwoon said. "But who wouldn't want our prince? He's quite the looker."

Agreeing murmurs filled the room.

"Let's go get him, then!" Jungsu said.

"We wish you good luck," Kevin said. "Now Eli and I are off to get massages!"

"And not messages..." Eli muttered under his breath, trudging out of the room, a hopping Kevin following behind.

Jongwoon nodded. "And I bet I know where to find Kyuhyun."

-

Kyuhyun was slumped up against the tree he met Sungmin at everyday. He was down, though, because he didn't see Sungmin after the concert. He saw him through the glass, though, beautiful face and all, but he was gone halfway through his performance. Kyuhyun didn't even have the heart to stay for the afterparty after that.

And now Sungmin wasn't even showing up. Did he not like the fact that Kyuhyun was famous? Everyone else did. He groaned, tilting his head back in frustration and confusion.

Right when he was about to give up and go home, three people fell from out of the bushes. "What the hell..."

"No time!" one of them yelled. The other two swarmed him, grabbing him before he could fight, and then - POOF. They were gone.

(Earlier:

"How do you know they meet there?"

"I set a GPS tracker in Sungmin's backpack."

"Creepy."

"Hey, it came in handy, didn't it?)

Before Kyuhyun could even blink twice, he was in a dark room. It was almost like a chamber. The three men were gone (one seemed to sneer at him, though, in that brief second they were together - was that a man? He seemed somewhat feminine once Kyuhyun thought about it). He tried looking for a way to escape this apparent hell hole when he realized someone else was there.

The person he was waiting for.

Kyuhyun bent down to see Sungmin clearer. He looked... asleep. He hesitated for a moment, trying to figure out why he was there. But all he could think about was how pink Sungmin's lips were and how pretty Sungmin was, even in the dark, and how Sungmin was mouthing the words last night as he sang.

It felt wrong, though, to kiss someone in his sleep when he was unaware of it. Not that Kyuhyun doubted Sungmin liked him back - that was a fact Kyuhyun was sure of - but Sungmin was something different for Kyuhyun. Something he didn't want to mess around with and dump a week later. Something he wanted for life.

Right when he was about to turn away, a strong force - it felt kind of like a small hand, actually) seemed to push his head towards Sungmin's, mashing their lips together. Sure, Kyuhyun could've fought it, but he liked the way Sungmin's lips felt too much actually.

And then beams of light filled the room!

But only for a moment, because Kyuhyun put on his shades (always in his pocket after he became an idol). Sungmin blinked a couple of times where he lay, confused and dazed, Kyuhyun's song still in his head. A few words slipped from his lips before he could help it, and soon, Kyuhyun couldn't help himself either.

He kissed him. Again and again and again.

And Sungmin let him. Again and again and again.

And Jongwoon watched.

-

The kingdom rejoiced in the return of their prince, saved from the curse from the handsome, young human whose voice made him practically magical itself. The king and queen cried tears of joy, and their people followed suit. Even Heechul spared a smile.

"Kyuhyun, you saved my son! How can I ever repay you?"

"Your son sounds like a pretty good payment to me," Kyuhyun said with a smirk, tugging a blushing Sungmin closer.

"Consider it a deal!"

Sungmin almost objected at how easily he was being given away, but Kyuhyun's warmth was just too inviting to ignore.

"You know, you're not even a prince, yet you're marrying royalty," Sungmin pointed out teasingly, smiling as the two sat in front of the castle's steps. Everyone else was partying, but Sungmin's fun was right in front of him.

"Well, I'm an idol. I'm practically a king in my own way," Kyuhyun said arrogantly. Sungmin shoved him.

"So, King Kyuhyun," Sungmin said, playing along. "Are you looking for a husband?"

"A queen actually."

Sungmin glared at him.

"You're pretty enough, though."

"Mhm."

"And I think I love you, so there goes the queen idea."

Sungmin's eyes widened.

"You -"

"Now enough talking, and more kissing. I've been watching those lips move for so long, but they have much better uses." Kyuhyun moved in to capture his lips. Sungmin let him, because hey -

Kyuhyun was his prince, and he loved him, too.

A/N: LOL, this story... is not like Sleeping Beauty. The prince is an idol OTL And it went from older times to new times and I just... my mind is a mess. Mhm.

I thought of you, FiveMoreMinutes, when I introduced Kevin. I just thought you should know that.

IT TOOK ME LONG ENOUGH WITH THIS ONESHOT. I didn't mean it to be this long T.T I hope you enjoyed! Thank you for reading! :D

the ending failed so badly

Chapter 4: ohmygoshholycrap your characters are awesome! your crack fics are amazing. seriously. every character is written exactly as i would assume they act in real life. and it is SO FUNNY.

And the subtle references to other real life characters and stuff in the kpop world is total perfection. Heechul in the first fic was hilarious, hysterical and bitter over hangeng. Omg i laughed so hard when he freaked out on sungmin and started screaming warnings about love and fried rice. And donghae and eunhyuk in the second story, constantly bickering and creating accidents--i could have died. that was so realistic i can't even. and the third fic! holy flaming skinny jeans, the third fic! The fact that no one noticed the switch was sooooo gooooood! not just in facial appearance, but kyu is SUBSTANTIALLY taller than hae. omg omg omg this is some GOOD ISH YOU GOT HERE!

Thank you SO FREAKING MUCH for this! I hope you update soon, i can't wait for the hilarity to continue!
