Chapter 1: i guess i'm just on the road to binge all your stories now huh. i've read this before, but it was so long ago. the heartbreak is still so fresh and strong. knowing this wasn't going to end happily was something hard to deal w as i was reading all the gooey fluff. ah, one thing in particular i would like to marvel at is the ix. it was such a poetic (is this a good word to use, hmm) decision to stick it at the very beginning. an "i love you" left unanswered. it was angst immediately. it has been a while since i read this, so you know i'm thinking cliche ksoo doesn't say it back. but then you bring it all the way home at the end w that unexpected twist that somehow, fits better than anything else could have. jongin being so understanding, being so simultaneously broken and in love. oh, and i'd also love to mention jongin's outburst when ksoo confronted him after the ball. "you chose your crown over me". an immature assumption, but you can feel every ounce of betrayal in that one statement. all that pain. it really hit hard. i was kinda thinking he'd be more devastated and reclusive, in a way. but i love the flare of anger instead. it's more realistic, i think. again, as always, beautifully written. i never realised that so many of my favorite fics were born of the same genius, eloquent mind. thank you!
