"Ey Kyungwan!" One particular kid with short bob hair whipped her head to know who called her. She sighed. "Did I hear a sigh, Wannie?" "N-no Nam-gi. What is it?" The shorter one asked. Nam-gi just smiled, his clothes dirtied from minutes of playing at the playground. Kyungwan hid her grimace at the dirt covered boy. Being an OCD is hard. Especially when you're trying to control yourself to not have a breakdown from all of the dirty objects. So she kept mum. "You're weird." Kyungwan just stared at him, her tiny hands clutching her shirt nervously. "We're at the playground but you're not playing. What's the point of going here if you're going to play?" (He's right but Kyungwan doesn't want to agree with the boy.) "Um usually, when I'm outside, my mind clears and then, I could um answer my assignments properly. But I play sometimes! It's just that I'm really busy-" "What have you been doing then?" "Aish. It's so obvious." Kyungwan muttered. "Excuse me what?" "I-I mean! I'm answering my assignments 'cause classes ended-" A pair of grabby hands then swooped up the notebook that the bob haired was holding. The shorter blinked before looking at culprit, who was also busy looking at her answers. "Pfft! Who needs studying? Obviously, not you because you're better off playing sports." Nam-gi then "accidentally" dropped the notebook on the wet ground, the rain stopped 5 hours ago. "Whoops. I didn't mean that. It slipped from my hands." Kyungwan was about to pick it up when Nam-gi then stepped on it. "That too." The girl was trying not to cry as her fingers twitched while her brows furrowed. "Come on, Nam-gi! Let's play tag!" "Coming! See you later, Wannie boy." Nam-gi then ruffled the shorter's short bob hair, dirt transferring unto Kyungwan's hair. Kyungwan bit her lip, disgusted by her now dirtied and disheveled bob hair. Disgusted by the boy's hands filled with bacteria. Disgusted by the boy's untidied shirt and messy shorts. Disgusted by her notebook's horrendous state. Disgusted with everything. So she put her pen on her pocket as she picked up her notebook and ran towards the faucet area near the field. Kyungwan scrubbed the notebook's mud covered pages and cover, the water running down. She scrubbed and scrubbed, her eyes welling up as the mud only spreaded more. But no matter how hard and rough she scrubbed, the mud stubbornly refused to be washed away. She didn't realized her breathing became ragged until someone held her arm. She whipped her head, brows furrowed and jaw clenched as she stared back at the kid. The kid have short brown hair, tied up into pigtails, wearing a way too oversized shirt and denim jumper, her hands are bigger but softer than the rest of the kids she knew. Kyungwan literally burst out of tears when the other girl said the kindest words she ever heard today. "Are you okay?" Kyungwan shook her head feverishly, tears falling down her cheeks. "I'm not. The mud. The mud won't go away! It won't go away! Please, make it go away-" The girl wrapped her arms around the taller, pulling her closer as she tried to calm her down. Kyungwan can't bring herself to shriek and step back as she hugged the girl back, not minding the unknown warmth and the foreign feeling inside her chest. "There, there. Steady your breathing. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe with me. Breathe in, breathe out." "I-I can't-" The girl brought her lips on the taller, the softest and most gentle lips that Kyungwan ever felt on her entire life. Kyungwan didn't pushed the stranger away. Instead, she accepted the help she was receiving and closed her eyes, her heart and mind calming down. After a whole 8 seconds (for Kyungwan, it was just a second), the girl pulled away and looked deeply at Kyungwan's teary ones. Kyungwan has never seen such beautiful eyes until now. The girl's heart shaped lips smiled widely, revealing bunny-like teeth. Kyungwan smiled back bashfully, her cheeks red and her eyes puffy. "Are you breathing properly now?" "Y-yes. Thank you for your help." "No worries. My poppa always tell me and my sister if someone's hurt or sad, give them the biggest affection we could ever give." The girl did a circular motion with her arms. "You didn't need to." Kyungwan mumbled. "But I wanted to." "Thank you. Are you new around here? I never saw you before." Kyungwan smiled as she tilted her head. The girl bobbed her head feverishly that Kyungwan really thought her head might fall off. "Yep! We just arrived 3 days ago and we came to live here with my grandma. She makes the best cookiesss! You should totally try some." The girl offered but Kyungwan shook her head. "I don't even know you." "Well then, you have to know me. I'm Im Nayeon, the most prettiest girl in the entire world. That's what my poppa said to me." Nayeon held out her hand and giggled as Kyungwan giggled back too. "I am Yoo Kyungwan." Kyungwan said, checking for any negative reaction or comment from Nayeon as she shook hands with shorter. "Ooh! What an unusual name." Kyungwan sighed, "Here it goes again." "I know. It's really weird." "What do you mean? It's really pretty! I like it." Nayeon answered. "R-really?" "Of course! Kyungwan is a unique name and I never knew anybody with the same name like you." "Oh t-thank you. Nayeon is a pretty name and I never knew anybody with the same name like you too." Nayeon beamed up. "Now, we're not strangers. We're friends now!" Nayeon smiled and Kyungwan momentarly forgot about her notebook until Nayeon picked up the drenched thing. "Oh. I should take that." The taller was about to take her notebook when Nayeon pulled it back to herself. "Nope! This is the reason that made you sad. I'm going to take this somewhere. Far away from you for you to not be sad by this again." Nayeon shook her head firmly. Kyungwan admired her protective attitude but still, she need her muddy notebook because her assignments are written on it and she need to pass all of those tomorrow morning, first period to be exact. "No. I have to pass my assignments tomorrow." "I'll pass it for you." Kyungwan's confused. "I'm still not done with my assignments." "I'll do it for you." Now, Kyungwan's really confused. Why? "Why would you do that?" "Because I'm your friend and I want to." Nayeon looked deeply at the taller's eyes. Kyungwan can't believe what she just heard. A stranger, no, a friend. Whom she just met, wanted to help her. Why should she decline? Kyungwan smiled softly before walking with the shorter, talking and chatting along the way to the school's premises. Thus, the two started a new friendship. All because of a muddy notebook and innocent kiss. True enough, right on spot as the clock striked 9, a triumphant looking Nayeon went inside the 2nd graders' classroom. The teacher looked absolutely shocked and amused when Nayeon went inside using the window, a sky blue colored notebook on the right hand and a bag of cookies on the other hand. "Erm Nayeon, why don't you use the door?" "I can't. My hands are preoccupied at the moment. Don't you think so, Song-nim?" The class snickered at their English teacher gaping at the 3rd grader's answer. "Ah. I supposed you're right. So Nayeon, what important business brought you here and barged into my class?" "I came to deliver Kyungwan's assignments. She dropped hers on a muddy puddle and it was my fault. May I please give it to her?" The teacher nodded as he pointed to where the bob haired is currently sitting. Kyungwan felt her face heats up as she felt her classmates staring at her with curiousity, wondering how she's friends with an eccentric and cute older transfer student. "Here you go, Kyungwan-ah. Also, here some cookies. Grandma brought me that but I figured out that I should share it with you too. See you later!" Nayeon said as she put the notebook and bag of cookies on Kyungwan's desk and bowed down at the teacher before leaving. Kyungwan never heard the end of teasing and giggling from her classmates the entire day. Kyungwan learned that Nayeon is a year older than her and lives a couple of blocks away from her house. She met her younger sister, Seoyeon (which ironically has the same name with one of her older sisters) and her parents (who absolutely adored Kyungwan very much the first time they saw her). She met grandma Im too, who really bakes the best cookies. The two was sitting on the Im's porch, freshly baked cookies between them as they nibbled the snacks. "Nabongs," Nayeon looked up from her cookie, waiting for Kyungwan to finish her sentence. "Where did you say your family lived before?" "We lived at Seoul." Kyungwan muttered an "oh" before biting unto a chocolate chip cookie. "Was it nice out there?" "Yep! Our neighborhood is really pretty and has great city lights but momma said that Suwon is a nicer place for us." "Why?" "Hmm. I'm not sure but Seoyeon and I always wanted to live with grandma becuase she has interesting words and bakes cookies. Maybe momma and poppa wanted that too." "Fair point." "By the way, why'd you ask?" Kyungwan shrugged. "I never been to anywhere except here. Oh! We went to Seoul before but it was nothing important." Kyungwan mumbled. Nayeon tilted her head. "Why was it not important to you?" "Erm because-" "Because she failed a certain agency's audition." "Seo-unnie!" Kyungwan ran towards her older sister. "Hi, you little lotus." Seoyeon snickered when Kyungwan glared at her. "Hello, Seo-unnie. Where's Seung-eonni?" Nayeon asked as the sisters walked back to her. "Hi, Nay. Unnie's busy with school. Apparently, she have to practice for a school play." "That . By the way, I told you to stop calling me that, eonni. You know I hate lotus." "But your hair looks like a lotus. Especially, when you accidentally used a green dye shampoo. We were shocked when you ran around the house with your hair standing in different directions." The oldest beauty laughed while Nayeon looked at Kyungwan for confirmation. "Unnie! That was years ago. And besides, I never knew that the shampoo would dye my hair." Kyungwan defended herself, her cheeks red and her brows furrowed. Seoyeon just snickered at her sister. Nayeon just stared and smiled at Kyungwan before remembering what the older just said earlier. "Kyungwan-ah failed an audition?" Kyungwan widened her eyes. "You better not say any-" "She failed an audition from her favorite agency. She was so sad and devastated that she locked herself inside her room and trashed the place." "Oof." Nayeon muttered. Kyungwan glared at her older sister, who just stared back at her like she said nothing wrong. She sighed before gathering her belongings. "I'm leaving first. Bye Nabongs." Kyungwan muttered, annoyed and somewhat solemn. Nayeon noticed and went nearer to Kyungwan. "What-" Peck. Nayeon pecked Kyungwan on her right cheek. Seoyeon squealed at the interaction before snapping a picture and sending it to the oldest sister of her family. Kyungwan's face reddened, she rested her hand on her kissed cheek as she stared at Nayeon for an explanation. "Give them the biggest affection we could ever give." Nayeon reminded as she smiled widely at the younger. "I'm fine! You don't need to do that." Kyungwan muttered despite her flustered expression as she walked away. "Aish, that tiny lotus. Nayeon, come here." Seoyeon chuckled before gesturing the 10 year old to come to her. "What is it unnie?" Nayeon tilted her head as she stood up and walked over. "I'm going to tell you a secret that Seung-unnie told me when she noticed Kyungwan's attitude towards affection." "I'm all ears." Nayeon leaned closer, itching to know more about Kyungwan. "Kyungwan is a tsundere." "Huh?" "A tsundere is a person who acts displeased whenever an affection is applied on them but actually likes it secretly. That's what I saw from an anime." Nayeon widened her eyes before giggling. "Remember, you never heard that from me." Seoyeon winked, a melodious laughter came after. "Okay unnie. I never heard anything." The two giggled as Seoyeon took a cookie and walked away, not before saying goodbye and complimenting grandma Im's cookies too. Nayeon finally met Mr. and Mrs. Yoo when they invited the Im's for a dinner. (Which led the families into a debate who's going to pay for Nayeon and Kyungwan's wedding, making the two y
