Nichkhun had taken Haesun and Jaeheon out with the rest of Boyfriend. They had gone food shopping for tonight’s dinner, and you were cooking.   You and Victoria were catching up with each other while Hyunjoo was colouring at the table. She was already nine years old, and she had grown up pretty fast. She was very witty and smart.   Minutes later, she spoke up, “Mommy?”   You turned around after putting away the egg cartons in the fridge, “Yes, honey?”   “Girls are mean.” She said randomly. You and Victoria shared a confused look.   “Come here, sweetie.” Victoria clapped her hands together and outstretched them. She quietly got off of her chair and jumped into her favourite aunt’s arms.   “Now what do you mean by that?” Victoria asked as she ran her fingers through Hyunjoo’s long hair. Hyunjoo sighed, “These girls at school are being mean to me.”   You grew more alert, “They’re what?”   “They don’t really talk to me and they’re rude to me. They said I’m a spoiled, rich brat because I live in a mansion.” Hyunjoo replied a bit meekly. You started to get angered by these girls.   Victoria furrowed her eyebrows, “Look at me, Hyunjoo.” Hyunjoo blinked back her tears and stared up at her aunt. “You’re not a spoiled, rich brat. You’re a beautiful and intelligent girl. Don’t listen to those girls. They’re just blind and jealous.” She explained.   “But what am I supposed to do, Victoria eemo? They keep making fun of me. All the other girls that I’m friends with don’t really play with me at recess anymore. They don’t want to be a victim of those mean girls, so they stay away from me. All my friends are leaving me…” Hyunjoo’s eyes watered up.   Your heart dropped like a rock as you hurried up to Hyunjoo and took her from Victoria, “How long have these girls been doing this to you?”   “Since last week.” Hyunjoo mumbled.   “And why didn’t you tell me or your appas sooner?” You questioned.   “I didn’t want to get in more trouble with those girls. If I told you, you would do something about it, and they’d get really mad. Maybe the bullying would get worse.” Hyunjoo hiccupped. You looked at her with sympathetic eyes and shared a look with Victoria. She was anxious as well.   “Alright. Don’t worry about it anymore. We won’t let you get pestered by those girls.” You firmly nodded, “Appas and I will talk about it later, araso?”   Hyunjoo still felt down, but nodded anyway.   ---------------------------   In the end, the three girls were reprimanded and punished by the teacher for bullying Hyunjoo. If they were to set foot near her again, they would get in much bigger trouble. They’d maybe even face expulsion.   Hyunjoo had also been transferred to another class as well. With a relieved heart, she changed back into the bubbly girl that she once was before. However, the girls in her new class didn’t really pay attention to her either.   On Monday morning, Hyunjoo was sitting in homeroom, waiting for the teacher to arrive like the rest of the class. She boredly planted her head on her palm and started doodling on her notebook. Suddenly, the classroom door swung open to reveal the teacher.   But there was someone else with her, too. A boy walked into the room a bit awkwardly as some curious murmurs filled the room.   “Quiet!” The teacher ordered. Immediately, the classroom fell silent. Hyunjoo blinked at the boy, intrigued. He had tousled dark brown hair, and looked a little out of place. Even though he wasn’t the most attractive boy in the world, she felt a little connection to him.   “Class, this is our new student. Please guide him well. Introduce yourself, now.” The teacher told him as he nodded, biting his lip.   “A-Annyeonghaseyo!” He abruptly bowed 90 degrees. Hyunjoo almost snickered. “My name’s Moon Jo
