"Hey, how are you feeling?" I carefully ask as I entered the room with a cup of hot chocolate. Lisa shrugs and sits up straighter on her bed while pulling her legs to her chest and resting her chin on her knees.

"I'm alright," She says but smiles slightly as I hand her the hot mug. After mumbling a thank you and taking a sip, she places the mug on the side table and looks back down at her toes. I frown at the sight and sat myself next to her,

"It's okay to say you're not okay you know?" I carefully say. She chuckles and turns her face to me,

"It's better to say so I convince myself that I am okay," She whispers as she shifts her gaze back down. Seeing the way her eyes seem to water, I felt a tug on my heart string but not in a pleasant way. My frown deepens and I suddenly grew a need or a want to see her beautiful smile again. She sighs and rests her head on my shoulder,

"Do you think I'm turning back into a complete siren again?" She asks nervously. I let out a breath and placed my hand on her knee,

"We don't know what's happening for sure but we will get to the bottom of this okay?" I squeeze her knee lightly in reassurance but instantly felt my heart clench as she nodded her head but her hands began to tremble lightly in fear.

"I get that, but, what if we don't find the answers we're looking for and I change back into a siren again and never get to see the world the way you humans sees it?" She asks as a tear slowly escaped her eyes. I frown at the sight and felt my heart clench.

She was afraid.

But for what reason?

Why was she so afraid to become a siren again?

"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cry or anything. I guess I'm just tired from earlier," She states while she quickly wipes away her tears and takes in a deep breath. And smiles a tight smile that I knew was fake.

Why do you keep lying to me?

"Please don't force yourself to show me that you're okay when you're clearly not." I respond.  She stares at me for a moment before looking away and clasping her hands together tightly,

"I want to be okay, but I don't know how." She whispers. The way another tear rolled off her cheek and onto her hands, I knew the truth will be revealed soon. It's a bittersweet feeling, but as of now, all I can think of is the way she was hurting.

Seeing her in this vulnerable state was hurting me more than I could ever imagine.

Suddenly, she lifts up her head and slowly turns to face me while wiping her tear away.

"I can feel your heart hurting right now." I stiffen and quickly averted my eyes to my hands. I feel her shift on the bed and face me causing my heart to claw its way out of my chest. I feel my breath hitch as she gently places her hand under my chin and turn it to face her. I nearly melted seeing her eyes suddenly soften,

"Does it hurt because of me?" She asks in a hushed tone causing a shiver to go down my spine as her cool breath hit my face. She waits patiently as she continues to scan my dazed eyes in search for something,

Anything.

"Yes." I whisper in return.

Why lie?

Lisa scoots closer and places both of her hands on my face,

"Is it because I'm hurting?" She asks as she alternates her sight from my eyes to my lips. I gulp nervously and nod,

"Yes," I whisper again. With a sad smile, she closes her eyes and leans her forehead on mine,

"I'm sorry." She whispers. I chuckle quietly and place my hands over hers as I closed my eyes as well,
