“Hyukjae! Lee Hyukjae! Come here!”
Donghae stopped in his tracks, holding out his hand. He waited for Hyukjae to grab it. As soon as he did, they walked down a narrow pavement, onto a field of grass. Hyukjae was holding the bouquet that Donghae had given him, pressing it to his chest. He was beaming, squeezing Donghae’s hand as they moved, the sounds of their footsteps swallowed by the soil beneath their feet.
“God,” Donghae whined, sighing. “My memory is getting so bad, Hyukjae. Do you remember where it is?”
“Of course not! I thought you were supposed to remember.”
Donghae shook his head, grinning to himself. “I’m only kidding. How could I forget where it is? That place is special to us.”
Hyukjae frowned, having a hard time comprehending what Donghae meant. “What do you mean?”
“Nah, you don’t have to know. We’re here. Give me the flowers, please.” Donghae said softly, letting go of Hyukjae’s hand. He waited for Hyukjae to hand the bouquet to him, raising it to his nose to take a whiff of its scent. He sighed contentedly, turning around.
“Go find your mother, alright? Tell her to wait for me by the hut. I’ll be here for a while.”
“Okay, Appa.”
