I opened the door and there she is, with a book in hand and seating at her desk.

“you read books?” i asked her jokingly, a person with a bad girl image is now wearing glasses with a book in hand, its not even a book you'd be forced to read in class its a romantic novel

“why? im not some kind of street bastard irene” she said while not taking her eyes of the book

“i didn't know you need glasses” i went to my desk and placed my books on the shelf next to it

“why? do i look hotter with it?” she still focused on her book

I scoffed at that

“your confidence is really out of this world kang’

“its based on facts you know” she said as she waved a magazine beckoning me to read it

i approached her and saw what the magazine is.

Mecha is the university's official magazine, the school's publication produce it every 2 months

“page 50” she said as she focus on her book again

i flipped through the pages until i reached page 50 and there it was, on a 2 page spread an article about seulgi

“you've gotta be kidding me” that's all i could say

“you dont think I'm hot?” she closes her book and placed it in her desk

“arrogant, that's the first word that springs to my mind when i think of you” i said as i gave her back the magazine

“you are thinking of me, that's progress” she teased

“that's not what i meant” I'm her secretary of course there are times where she's in my head

“yeah right, what's my schedule today?”

“just a book club meeting in 10 am the rest would be your class schedules”

“book club?” she asked

“yes, why?” i turned around to see her looking at the window behind her desk

“can we just ask wendy to cover for me?” well that's a first, although this bear can be lazy, she never asked someone to cover for her when it comes to her duties

“okay, I'll ask if she's free”

 

i went outside the presidents office to talk to wendy, the moment i stepped out of the elevator i noticed a tall girl talking to joy, I'm sure she's not an officer in ASSC and i dont think she's a student as well.

“oh irene unnie good timing, I'd like you to meet Professor Sunmi the adviser of book club” oh she's a professor that's why she looks a bit older. i greeted her.

“seulgi and I was just talking about the meeting with book club just now” i said to her and i noticed a glow in her eyes when i mentioned seulgi

i dont think I'll like this woman

Seulgi’s

 

i spent half of my freshman year in high school with her, we're not together but by the end of the day I'd always find my self on her bed, she's older than me and she thought me everything, everything that a 16 year old shouldn't know just yet, i was terrified at first until i felt the pleasure. we've lost contact with each other when she graduated.

In my first day in this university i found out that we have a book club, i decided to apply for book club until i saw her inside their office, we made eye contact but something inside me told me to runaway, that was the last time i saw her

i heard the door open i looked up and it was irene

“the adviser of the book club was here”

it was her, i felt a tinge of horror upon hearing that

“did you tell wendy that she'd be the one to attend the meeting?” i don't want to see her

“yeah, she's okay with it”

we still have a few hours until class, i want to get out of this place

i stood up and went to the couch, i grabbed my helmet that's placed in the coffee table, i also grabbed my spare helmet that's inside one of the file cabinets near my desk

“catch” i threw the spare helmet to my secretary she barely caught it

“what's this for?” she looked at me quizzically

“just come with me” i expect her to refuse but she just stood up and joined me as i step into the elevator

 

we were in the mountains with my motorcycle

“where are we going? and can you please slow down a bit, we're going too fast!” she asked, she's clinging into me, its obviously her first time in a motorcycle

“to my sanctuary” that's all i said to her

“your sanctuary!? kang seulgi for the past month that I've known you with that sleazy persona of yours and the fact that you have a sanctuary makes me think that i should jump from this speeding motorcycle while i still can”

i just chuckled at that

 

we've finally reached our destination, i rang the doorbell and Mrs. Kim came out

“seulgi-ah you should have said that you would come” she welcomed me with a hug and i gladly reciprocated

“I'm sorry Mrs. Kim, its just that i suddenly felt the need to visit you right now”

Mrs. Kim noticed the presence of the person I'm with

“who is this fine young lady, do you finally have girlfriend?” she asked as she smiled to irene

“no Mrs. Kim im irene, I'm just her secretary” irene said as she shake her head as denial

“too bad this kid needs someone to take care of her” Mrs Kim knows me since i was a toddler, she's been the head care taker of this orphanage(part of the Kang Foundation) for 20 years now.

 

We entered the building and we were immediately greeted by kids some I'm familiar with but some are new, i watched irene interact with them, she obviously like kids

i came here because its peaceful here, the kids have good manners

i went to the library, 5 kids are inside and greeted me immediately. I built this library for them when i was in high school, knowledge is a powerful thing, its something that they would carry for the rest of their lives that's why i encouraged the kids here to read more books.

i was reading a book when i heard familiar foot steps approaching me, i looked up to see my secretary with a smile to her face

“didn't know that this kind of place is your definition of sanctuary” she said as she sat next to me

“why is that?” im curious of her answer

“i expect you to be the partying type of person, a wild teenager” she said as she grabbed a book from the shelf beside her

she's the first person that I've brought here, there's something about her that really gets my attention.

 

i just stared at her while she reads her book

its funny how small and petite she is, she looks so fragile, like a little bunny, soft and white.

i just observed how she mouthed some of the words she’s reading

how her glasses slightly glides down her nose

how her brows arch when she focuses

i don't know what it is but there's something about irene bae that entices me

 

we spent the next 3 hours in the orphanage, playing with kids, feeding the kids and reading them stories

 

we were about to leave this place and irene just asked me to stroll around this small community surrounding the orphanage

the breeze in this place is much fresher and cooler than what the city has, it made me feel relaxed.

“i really like it here, thank you for bringing me here” she said as she stopped in front of me

“thank you for coming” i smiled at her, im happy that she's here, for the first time i get to enjoy a time with irene where she doesn't have to force me into doing my work, it's a different situation than what we usually have.

“i saw a different side of you now, the nice version of you” she said.

“your the first person to see it” this is the first time that i asked someone to come with me in the orphanage

“what do you mean?”

“nothing, let's go we have classes to attend” i turned around to go back to the orphanage and get my motorcycle

this is the first time I'm with someone in this place, that fact left a question inside my head

why did i even brought her here?

what's so special about her?

its the first time that i let another person see what i consider as my soft side

why irene bae?

it could have been wendy, she's my best friend

it could have been one of the girls ive been with

why does it have to be her?
