Love is Bittersweet
Unrequited Love Complication"Yeah, Kitagawa Amu. You know her?" Ryosuke asked.
Daiki stood in confusion, trying to comprehend everything he had just heard but instead of answering honestly, he decided to lie. "No, never heard of her."
"Oh, I see." The latter replied.
Daiki suddenly felt a slight rumble in his pockets and pulled his phone out. He frowned immediately when he saw his girlfriend's name pop up on his screen followed by the message, "Can you actually meet me at the Kohii Cafe?".
"It was nice meeting you." Daiki said to Ryosuke before shoving his phone into his pocket. "Apparently my girlfriend just decided to change the meetup location."
"Ahh... I see." Ryosuke replied, immediately noticing how upset the latter was. "I guess I'll see you around?"
"Yeah" was all Daiki said before he walked away feeling mixed emotions. He felt angry, confused, yet scared at the same time. He wanted answers but he didn't want to lose Amu.
- a little later -
"There you are!" Amu panted as she finally reached the cafe. "Why didn't you text back?"
"Sorry." Daiki responded, avoiding her gaze.
"What happened?"
"Nothing. Do you want anything from the cafe?"
"Not really-"
"Then why did you want to meet here?"
"I- uh..." Amu began to panic. She could sense the annoyance in Daiki's tone and that worried her even more. Amu struggled to find the right words to say but her mind went blank.
Daiki sighed and began walking the opposite way from the park. "Sorry Amu, but I'm not feeling up to it today."
"Eh?" Amu replied, stunned by his sudden words. Immediately she grabbed his arm to stop him from walking further. "Do you want to go somewhere else then?"
Daiki paused for a second and released another sigh, this one heavier. He softly turned around and said the words he never thought he would be the one to say.
"I think we should talk."

The walk to the nearby lake was filled with excited couples strolling towards the amusement park. Neither Daiki or Amu said a word to each other in the past 10 minutes until they sat down on a bench facing the water.
"Is there anything you're hiding from me?" Daiki finally began.
Amu glanced down at her skirt and frowned when she heard him sigh.
"I don't want to accuse you of anything wrong but I just can't help but to feel this way.." Daiki began before pausing to stare at the ducks in the lake. "... Are you cheating on me?"
Amu immediately lifted her head and stared at her boyfriend in disbelief. "Of course not! Why would you think that?"
"Well, I just so happened to bump into Yamada Ryosuke at the park entrance who told me that he was engaged to the vice president of our school." Daiki paused and met Amu's gaze. "Please tell me he's lying."
"He wasn't lying..." Amu answered, breaking Daiki's heart. "I wanted to tell you this in person when the right time comes... I didn't want you to hear it from somebody else."
"Can you tell me why? Why are the two of you engaged? How long has it been? Am I not good enough?" Daiki begged as his questions pierced Amu's heart. "You need to give me some answers Amu, I'm freaking out here!"
"It's an arranged marriage." Amu honestly answered. After taking in a deep breath, she began again. "My dad's business isn't doing so well and my family is financially struggling so they decided to set me up with the son of a wealthy family. We were supposed to meet each other for the first time at his first day at our school but I decided to set him up with Rio instead. We switched our idenitites, even our stuff to pull this off and he was supposed to meet Rio today for their first date. I was just hoping that he would fall for her and together, we can object to this marriage."
Daiki stayed silent and Amu bega
