The Call

Three Sides of A Heart

Jae-joong and Chang-min sit across from each other on the plush couches of Jae-joon'gs living room. It is another one of their daily sessions, the house only containing the two of them, since Yun-ho is working at the studio. Jae-joong wants to tell Chang-min about his attraction to Yun-ho. Ever since that visit to Ms. Jung's home, he hasn't been able to get the producer out of his mind. Jae-joong kept having dreams of Yun-ho and at first he thought they would wear off. He figured it was only physical attraction and that it meant nothing more. But, dreaming of Yun-ho every night for an entire week was a bit overboard.

Jae-joong hadn't felt the feeling of having a crush in so long, he felt confused. He honestly wanted to runaway from the feelings. He felt Yun-ho didn't deserve a up like him. Granted, he is trying to change his life around, Jae-joong still viewed himself as a up. He also knew confessing his feelings would only add complications to their already complicated situation. He has to get Yun-ho out of his head and stop him from entering his heart before it's too late.

"Jae-joong? You seem a little distracted today." Chang-min comments.

Jae-joong shakes his head and chuckles, "I apologize. What were we talking about? The tragedies of my life?"

Chang-min clears his throat and shifts, "No. We were talking about you possibly reaching out to your mother and sister."

Jae-joong hadn't realized how much he missed his mom and sister until after he left Ms. Jung's home. It had felt good to him to be around a mother and be fed and loved on. Even though Ms. Jung wasn't his mother, Jae-joong felt comfort in her. He had mentioned briefly to Chang-min how his relationship with his mother and sister was strained. He explained to the therapist why and how it got that way. He expressed to Chang-min how much he wanted to see his mom and sister again, but felt too shameful to visit.

"Oh yeah... I don't think I can do it. They both wanted me gone for good." Jae-joong mumbles, looking down at his own lap.

"I am sure those words were said in the heat of the moment. I am sure they are aching to see you or even hear from you. How about you start with a phone call, hm?" Chang-min advises.

Jae-joong lifts his head and scoffs softly, "You don't think I've tried calling? I'm blocked on both of their phones."

Chang-min nods his head as he writes down a note, "Have you tried calling from a different phone?"

Jae-joong hadn't tried that. When his calls kept going straight to voicemail, he gave up on his small family. He sent Yoo-chun to make sure they were still alive and okay. Jae-joong half hoped an accident had happened, but no, they simply had him blocked. He sits back in his seat as he thinks about it. When did things get so complicated between family? Why did things have to get this complicated and messy? He feels a deep ache in his heart. Through his lonely years with his group, he always had his sister and mother to fall back on. They gave him the love he needed to carry on and that has now been missing for a couple of years now. Four years to be exact. How did he let it get to be this long?

Jae-joong stares at the phone Chang-min is offering him. He grabs hold of it, his eyes gazing at the number pad. All he needs to do is put the number in and his mother or sister will pick up. He feels a tightness in his throat though. What if they don't answer? What if they blocked Chang-min's number as well? Jae-joong eyes fill with tears as his hand trembles. Chang-min gets up from his spot on the couch and sits down next to the trouble star. He wraps his arm over his shoulders and gently takes his phone back.

"It's okay if you aren't ready." Chang-min says in a soft tone.

Jae-joong instantly leans over and cries into Chang-min's shoulder. The two sit there as Jae-joong lets out his sobs of pain and regret. His body shaking as he soaks the shoulder of Chang-min's shirt. Chang-min continues to give comforting rubs to Jae-joong's back. He decides to let him cry it out, his mouth remaining shut until he can find an opening in the sobs to speak. Jae-joong cries for a couple more minutes and then sits up, he wipes the tears and snot away with the sleeve of his robe and lets out a troubled sigh.

"I'm sorry... I just... I don't know if I'm ready." He finally says.

"That is okay. How about we try and find something else for you to do, hm?"

Jae-joong takes a second to take a deep breath. What else is there to do? He tries to listen to Chang-min as he speaks but all he can think about is his mom and sister. What kind of son goes about four years without seeing them? He feels this heavy sense of shame. A feeling of guilt punching him in the gut. He was able to laugh and hug Ms. Jung so easily, but not even his own mother. He gets the sudden urge to drink alcohol. The feeling overwhelming him, he suddenly gets up and goes to the kitchen to make a smoothie.

"I'm making a smoothie. Do you want one?" He calls out from the kitchen.

Chang-min shakes his head, "No, it's fine!"

The therapist falls back into his spot on the couch. A deep sigh escaping his lips. He commonly wouldn't let anyone he's working with to get up and leave in the middle of a session. He would commonly get up and follow or ask them to please stay. He simply lets Jae-joong go because of his own stressors.

Chang-min had taken Yun-ho's advice after their night in his car. He went back home to Soo-hee, who was still holed up in her room. He left her alone because he knew she wasn't coming out but the next morning, they both had a clearer head. She was still fuming with anger, but she had calmed down a bit. At least enough to not hit or scream at Chang-min.

Chang-min had woken up before her to make breakfast. He made sure he made her favorite which was fried eggs, sliced fruits, toast with strawberry butter. He made sure to make the presentation of the food nice and even one of her favorite morning talk shows. He also made her coffee with the right amount of cream and sugars.

When Soo-hee came out of their bedroom, her eyes were red, puffy, and sad. Her cheeks were heavily tear stained, her hair in a frazzled mess upon her head. It caused Chang-min to feel an immense amount of guilt. He hasn't seen his wife like this in a long time. The last time being when she failed to carry another one of their unborn babies. He was always looking like the same mess as her. This was her first time crying this intensely alone.

"Good morning... I made you some breakfast." Chang-min opened up with.

Soo-hee's lips were in a pinched line. She said nothing to her husband as she crossed their kitchen and grabbed a cereal box from the top of the fridge. Chang-min couldn't help but wince as she coldly ignored her favorite meal. He knew the road to forgiveness would be rough. He just hadn't expected it to be this hard. He had to keep calm and logical or else they wouldn't get anywhere. This was where his therapy degree came in.

"Soo-hee, I am really sorry about yesterday. I know it seems as if I broke my promise but I made sure to sign up so I can get the operation in two months. The promise will be fulfilled, we just have to wait a little longer."

His words were met with stone cold silence. He watched as she casually poured her cereal then the milk. She took her bowl and spoon to march back to their tornado messed bedroom. Chang-min's heart was cracked into millions pieces. He knew he should have left her alone, but he couldn't. The calm, rational therapist in him had slipped away. He was now Chang-min, the man and husband. He had his hand gently wrapped

Chapter 6: I did guess it had something to do with his marriage but never guessed it would be this. Poor him! But also poor her! I feel they both deserve an honest talk regarding the situation. Anyway, I'm not a counselor, so it's just my opinion. Nonetheless, hope he gets to at least get things out of his chest with Yunho. Can't wait to read more. Will be back later ^^

Chapter 5: The thing Changmin had to do was something regarding his falling marriage right? I hope things get better with Yunho and Jaejoong soon. I mean I hope they start to get along better. And I sorta agree with Yunho that it's kinda YC's fault too for the problem getting out of hand. He shouldn't have covered up so much. Anyway, Will be back later to read more ^^
