When it’s been nearly half a year and the music for a huge feature film you were working for was done, you have always thought about taking a week of vacation to relax and let it all go.

Of course, the entire team would celebrate, and you do enjoy their company. It was a lot of sleepless nights of arrangement and composing, after all.

It’s just that, you earned this; truth be told it’s all you’ve been thinking about.

Anything just to keep your mind of off her.

More than the work you’ve exerted and praised for, you actually want to pat yourself on the back for keeping it all in, for stopping yourself from crying in the studio, for keeping yourself from picking up your phone and calling her because you were too restless and she was your respite.

The drive home was painfully quiet, because she wasn’t at the passenger seat, sometimes holding a cheerful Haetnim, telling you stories about how her day went at the dog café she owns. Even with the city streetlights guiding you home, it’s still dark with her blinding smile.

The first month has been easy, because you have your job to distract you, and you when you reach home you would be too tired to eat dinner or notice your loneliness.

Now it’s two months later and all you can think of is how can you be so stupid.

You drag your feet to your floor, and to your surprise, she is there. Sitting on the floor, asleep in front of your doorstep, barely keeping her hold on a bouquet of flowers.

Your missed her, you really do. And as you stoop to her position to wake her up you hope you don’t chase her away again.

“Hey.” You lightly tap her head. You kinda missed doing that, because even if the drive to your place was short, she would sometimes fall asleep on the journey home.

She blinks, “Seungwan?” and looks up to you: it felt like a long time since you’ve seen her, and your heart feels like it’s breaking into pieces all over again. She’s wearing her favorite denim jacket and worn-out sneakers; even the aglets have Haetnim’s bite marks all over it.

She gets up and stretches her arms slightly before shyly handing you the bouquet. “Joohyun-unnie told me you were finished with the project already. Congratulations.”

You don’t say anything when you take the flowers, appreciating that she still cares even after what happened. “I’m really proud of you.” She adds, smiling even though you knew she was hurting too.

The minute of dead silence was too much; you can’t even say thank you without choking up. You miss her, you want to take her back, but it’s unfair to her.

Even if you’ll have the time for her in the interim, what if your new project starts getting too hectic? Will you break up with her over text as if she didn’t matter again?

“Well, I should go! Congrats again.” Sooyoung breaks the silence, clasping her hands together and begins to step forward. It makes you panic and you call out to her, just to have her around a little while.

“Sooyoung?”

She turns around just as quickly you call her, eyebrows slightly raised, anticipating the next words that will come out of you.

“Do you want to come inside for coffee?”
