“Hey. Hands above the water where I can see them.”

Donghyuk shot me a dirty look but a moment later his hands came up out of the bubbling water and wrapped around Jimin’s shoulders.

Jimin was a pretty nice guy now that I was getting to know him. Then again if he’d been Lisa’s band buddy for all these years he had to be cool enough. I just never realized in all these years that they were both each other’s gay BFF.

I was learning all sorts of new things tonight.

“Likewise missy,” Jimin said.

I stuck my tongue out but pulled my hand out of the water as well. Did the same as Donghyuk and wrapped it around Lisa. Not that we were doing anything bad under the water.

Unless you counted holding hands as doing something bad. I’m sure there were a couple of churches in town that would have conniption fits about that if they found out.

I didn’t go to any of them though, so that was their problem. Not mine.

“These band parties are pretty cool,” Donghyuk said. “I should’ve come to one of these a long time ago.”

Some people ran around the hot tub with squirt guns shrieking and then they wound up in the pool splashing some cold water up on us. Not that I minded. It was a warm night and I was boiling in warm water so the cool water actually felt pretty good.

“Ain’t no party like a band geek party,” Lisa said. “At least that’s what they say. Now that I’ve been to one of your parties I have to say I agree.”

“Yeah, I’ll admit to that,” Donghyuk said. “The parties at my place can get a little wild.”

“Hey, we can get wild at these parties too,” Jimin said. “If the cornfield’s a rockin’ and all that.”

“Ugh,” Donghyuk said. “Have you ever tried to make out with someone in a cornfield? It is not the great experience old ‘80s movies make it out to be.”

“You’ve made out in a cornfield?” I asked, arching an eyebrow. “This from the guy who said his schtick was telling girls he was saving himself?”

Donghyuk blushed and shrugged. It was like watching a mountain shrug. The guy really was pure muscle. Like Arnold, the high school years. I’m sure Jimin was probably about to die from pure joy overload sitting so close to the guy.

“I mean I managed to get out of it most of the time, but y’know how it goes.”

I pulled Lisa closer. “Not really, but maybe I’ll find out.”

“No way,” Lisa said. “There are coyotes and raccoons and God knows what sharp things buried in the dirt that gets kicked up every year when the farmers plow. If you want to make out with me we’re doing it in the cramped backseat of a car or something like God intended.”

That got Jimin to snort laugh which caused the rest of us to start laughing too. Especially when his snort caused him to inhale some of the hot tub water and he started coughing.

“Shouldn’t have sat so close to the surface buddy,” Donghyuk said, patting him on the back to help with his coughing fit.

Jimin finally stopped coughing and then he seemed to realize that Donghyuk was patting him on the back. He blushed but Donghyuk put an arm around him and pulled him closer.

“Get a room!” someone shouted from outside the hot tub.

Lisa casually raised a hand and then flipped the bird at whoever just told Donghyuk and Jimin to get a room. There was laughter and I got the feeling that whoever just said that wasn’t taking it personally any more than Lisa was judging from her smile.
