Alcohol (술)
Description
Most friendships fall apart after a good chunk of lack of communication but not Kang Seulgi and Kim Jongin. It didn’t really matter how much they never talk with each other. Seulgi and Jongin’s relationship have always outlived every conventional aspect of human relationships. No amount of silence and distance shared in between them can ever tear their care and familiarity apart with one another. People always tell Jongin how alcohol (술—sul) can drive his deepest worries away but they were all wrong, all he really needs is a bit of his decade friend, 슬기 (Seulgi) to drive every single negative energy away and drown in her warmth. He knows it all too well and thanks the heavens each time he realizes it. Maybe it was the same reason why he steered clear of her as much he can anyway. It’s like what they always say, too much alcohol can be detrimental to one’s well-being— it’s a double edged sword, it’s just redemptive and liberating to intake once in a while but can be too intoxicating if taken too much. But maybe, just maybe, he had enough of their silence and he’s grown tired of staying away. Screw his liver, he needs her more than anything else, and thought maybe it was the right time to finally get drunk.

P R O L O G U E
It was already 2:00am in the morning and Seulgi was wondering how the hell she was in a café sitting across Jongin when she should have been home by now. He called as soon as she landed in Korea and wanted to meet, she wanted to say no at first and give out an excuse but this was Jongin she's talking about. He never really calls her unless he can’t handle it anymore. His last resort. That’s what she has coined it. And all of a sudden, she just didn’t have the heart to tell him ‘no’ anymore and so, here she was sitting before him, listening to him unload all his worries and qualms.
“Sul-ah.” He called out softly, too softly for both of their own good but she ignored it like she always does.
“Hm?” She responded as she raised her brows at him.
“Can I hug you right now?” He suddenly asked out of the blue as he sank down in his arms once again but this time looking giddy and feverishly happy unlike before. This idiot really, she said inside her head.
“Have you gone crazy?” She shook her head at him and sat up straight. “And seriously, I really don’t like it when you call me 술 (Sul). It’s been years since you’ve been calling me that but still, the fact that you’re addressing me as an alcohol bothers me.” She pointed, raising her brows at him.
“But, I like it.” He stubbornly stated as he boyishly smiled, “It suits you.” He added. Maybe it was moments like this that drove her previous girlfriend when they see her with him. She just shook her head lightly, if she didn’t know any better she would have taken each gesture from him wrongly. “It’s like what I’ve always told you, people always say how alcohol can take their worries away but it’s just not that for me, you know?” He continued with a soft smile, “A bit of doze of you is already enough to lift my spirits.” He admitted shyly as he rubbed his neck and looked down, “It’s seriously a bit of magic. You’re like my personal 술기(sulgi).” He looked back at her. She simply bit her cheeks inside and thought how really has no filter he talks to her.
Hi everyone! I'm putting up a Kai x Seulgi fiction because I have recently liked them together. Heh. There will also be Jimin x Seulgi on the side. And, of course there will always be a bit of Red Velvet, EXO and BTS concurrently. :) So this whole 술 (sul–alcohol) mantra is actually a word play in 슬기's (Seulgi) name.
