Sehun comes from an old, magical family. Coming up on his 18th birthday, he'll finally learn what his element he's been gifted with. Sehun is under the impression that he'll inherit the same element as the rest of his family. However, he's disappointed when it's revealed that he has the opposite. According to the old rules, Sehun has to learn to master his abilities with someone who has the same. Kai, who has the same element as Sehun, becomes his reluctant mentor.  He's brilliant and powerful but he lacks compassion and manners, especially when Sehun shows difficulty learning. When Kai is constantly impatient and condescending often without provocation, Sehun is at his wit's end and demands to know why his mentor is hostile; it's revealed that they come from old, rival families and that he's only teaching him because of the recent truce. Once Sehun masters his powers, the two families must go back to once again being enemies. Sehun finds himself at crossroads when he begins to fall in love with Kai, regardless of the feud.
