The Blown Out C a n d l e s

The girl ran through the trees, looking back as much as she could to see if he was behind her. Her breaths were coming out very shallow and she could see her breath in the cold weather. She wasn’t sure what drove her to run so fast; her adrenaline or her fear of him. It’s okay, she thought to herself. Just a few more steps and I’ll be out of this forest.

“You can’t hide,”his voice whispered through the trees. “You’ll be mine.”

She shuddered at his echo and stepped out into the moonlight. Slowly, the husky voice faded into the dark trees, yet the shear reality of his being left her shaken up. She let the moonlight beat down on her and allowed herself to soak the moonlight in. Relief washed over her like the tides finally hitting the rocks in the ocean and she sank into the grass, taking in all the wondrous things she never appreciated until now. A tear escaped her eye as she counted the number of stars in the sky. How she would never be able to do this again...

“I’ll miss this place,” she whispered to the sky softly. The girl’s eyes slowly shut before drifting to sleep.

 So this is a little preview for my next oneshot, and when the story is fully done, this preview may or may not stay, but for sure the rest of the story will be updated here (: this is for all of you who are spending Valentine's Day alone, with friends, with family, or even with your biases. though I guess you can tell it's not necessarily a happy story, right ?
so any guesses as to who the person might be that's after this girl? I wanna see what you guys think; it'll be such a surprise when this story is finished and you find out ; ) but still do guess !
