Moonlight 「 reposted 」

Back to the class, they were having a mathematics lesson. Jessica wasn’t very good in that subject and that was the reason she seemed to grow drowsy as time passed. She tried hard to survive by propping her cheeks in her palms. Taeyeon, who sat two rows in front of her also appeared blank but she still managed to concentrate.

In the end, Jessica fell asleep whilst Tiffany took the initiative to cover her head with a textbook. It was a pretty obvious sight but fortunately, the teacher didn’t really care much about his students and just went on with his teaching.

After an hour, the bell rang, which indicated that their lessons had come to an end after a long day. After the teacher took his leave, everyone began to pack their stuff and prepare to leave, including Taeyeon. On the other side, Jessica was still in dreamland. Regardless of that, Taeyeon just walked out of the classroom after she finished packing her stuff.

“Hey, Jess! Wake up!” Tiffany shook the sleeping girl’s shoulder upon seeing Taeyeon leaving.

Jessica slowly raised her head and straightened her back as she leaned back against the backrest and stretched her arms with a big yawn. “What time is it now?” she asked with a hoarse voice, still unaware of the real situation.

“It’s time to go home, silly.”

“Huh?” Jessica blinked her eyes.

“Taeyeon already left.”

“What?” Jessica was still confused. She shifted her gaze to Taeyeon’s seat and gasped. Tiffany was right. Taeyeon had gone. “No way!” she immediately packed her stuff and sprinted out of the classroom, making her way towards the open-air parking lot in front of the main building.

Upon arriving there, Jessica smiled and sighed in relief when she spotted Taeyeon’s car still on the same place. She continued to run to get there quickly only to be left just like that as Taeyeon drove off without hesitation.

“Wait!” Jessica shouted but the car didn’t stop, in fact it was being driven faster until it disappeared from her sight in the blink of an eye.

She started to run again but fell on the ground, coughing. She had run out of energy after running that made her breathless for a while. Not to mention the hot weather drained her energy even more.

With the remaining strength, Jessica managed to stand on her feet again. She cleaned up the dirt over her knees. There was a collinear injury in her right knee and it led to difficulty for her to walk properly.

Still, compared to the pain on her once was unblemished skin, her heart was in pain more at the moment. She wanted to cry so much but how can she do that when she was surrounded by many people?

In the end, Jessica dragged herself out of the school area. She had to walk on her own to the bus stop, where Taeyeon left her in the morning. From a distance, she once again spotted the familiar car in front of the bus stop. It was Taeyeon, who was apparently waiting for her.

The sight brought a small smile on Jessica’s face. Despite her injury, she still ran until she got there. She stood in front of the door of the driver seat and tapped the window gently for a couple of times.

Taeyeon heaved a heavy sigh and let the window rolled down.

“Are you waiting for me?” Jessica asked softly.

“Get on.” Taeyeon said coldly and closed the window again without looking at her wife.

Jessica paid no mind to the cold treatment for she was still happy because Taeyeon was willing to wait for her. She may look pitiful, but for Taeyeon, she will do anything as long as she can be with the girl.

After she settled into the passenger seat, they left the place and went to their house. It was all silence on the way home. They didn’t utter even a single word.

Jessica didn’t dare to say anything either other than stealing glances over Taeyeon every now and then. That was everything she can do in spite of the urge to hold the latter’s hand and kiss her.

Jessica served the food on the dining table. She had been working hard to prepare dinner for the past two hours. She used to have no interest in cooking but since she got married, she can’t help but to be interested in it by learning from the recipe books and even her mother.

It was her first time to cook a proper meal with the help of the maid. She did mostly everything on her own. Even the maid can’t help but to praise her cooking skills that she developed in such a short time.

Everything was perfect but Jessica had no idea whether Taeyeon will like it or not.

She sighed, “Do you think Taeyeon will like it?” She asked the maid, who had been working with Taeyeon’s family for years.

“Of course she would. There’s no way she would hate it when it was you who prepared and cooked for her.” The maid said reassuringly.

Jessica pursed her lips and sighed softly, nodding her head slowly. Without wasting more time, she made her way to the bedroom to ask for Taeyeon to have a dinner with her.

At that time, Taeyeon was reading a book on the bed with her pet dog, Ginger, who was lying on top of her stomach.

Jessica slowly opened the door and peeked inside the room with a racing heart, “Taeyeon?” She spoke softly.

Taeyeon diverted her eyes towards Jessica and the latter silently gathered the courage to look into her eyes. It was like the she was trying to pierce the lass’ heart with her gaze.

Jessica cleared and stepped inside, “I- I have prepared dinner for you. It would be nice if we could eat together.”

“I’m not hungry.” Taeyeon said emotionlessly.

“Ah! Then, you can just have a taste and-”

“I said I’m not hungry. Are you deaf?” Taeyeon cut and trailed her harsh words, “Do you want me to throw up on your food?”

“I- I’m sorry.” Jessica dropped her gaze on the floor.

“I don’t know if you will hear this but just so you know, I hate to repeat . So, please, keep it in your mind. Don’t make me look bad because of your own ignorance.”

Without being able to say anything, Jessica had to swallow the pain. She decided to have dinner alone. Well, she wasn’t really alone as Ginger was kind enough to accompany the poor girl while sitting on her lap.

The food was left untouched. Everything was still in the same place. The room was totally surrounded by darkness. All the lights were turned off except for the one above the dining table where Jessica was still sitting at.

An hour had passed and Jessica was still there without moving even an inch. Ginger had already fallen asleep on her lap. She had been struggling to restrain her tears ever since she met Taeyeon in the bedroom earlier and now she can’t hold it anymore. Teardrops escaped her eyes whilst her hands moving delicately over Ginger’s soft and curly fur.

She bit her lip as she cried silently, forcing the pain to come out through her tears. It hurt so much. It hurt so much that she didn’t want to let the pain stay inside her.

Ginger woke up and he looked up to the crying girl.

Jessica smiled in tears at the sight of the dog staring at her. She folded her legs on the chair and placed Ginger on her knees before placing a quick kiss on his nose.

“Why are you so cute? Is it because of your owner?” The brunette tried to communicate with the dog to forget her loneliness. She knew she probably looked like a madwoman, but there was nothing else she can do.

“Yeah, Taeyeon is really cute,” she added, “Just like you, Ginger.”

“But... why does someone as cute as her being so cold to her own wife? Does she behave like that to you as well?” Jessica chuckled bitterly. Her tears flowed more abundantly at the end of her words.

The dog just stared at her. There was a glint of sadness in his pair of orbs.

“You must be thinking what’s wrong with me, right? You’re such a cutie!” Jessica elicited a small laugh and gave Ginger another kiss on the same spot before hugging him tightly on her shoulder and taking him with her upstairs.

When she thought she can finally sleep in their shared bedroom, she was proven wrong at the sight of a pillow and a blanket being left in front of the door.

It was just the same as their first night and the nights followed. They had never slept together ever since they moved there.

Ginger jumped out from Jessica’s arms and ran to the pillow.

Again, tears streaming down her cheeks. She supported herself by leaning against the wall and slowly slid down to sit on the floor.

Ginger approached Jessica while biting the blanket. He settled on her lap.

“Are you sleepy? Do you want to sleep with me?” Jessica wiped her tears with her sleeve. Along with Ginger, she took the pillow and the blanket to the living room and lied down on the couch.

“Good night, Ginger.”

“Good night, Taeyeon.”

“I love you...”

“...so much.” Jessica slowly closed her eyes, falling asleep with Ginger under the invisible moon as the rain began to fall heavily.

Instead of the arms of the heartless person, she was embraced by the coldness that slowly took over the warmth she had to share with the dog in her thin arms.

The night passed and Jessica finally woke up from her sleep after being awakened by the sound of the door that was opened by Taeyeon, who was preparing to leave for school.

“Tae...” Jessica called but got ignored. She struggled to get up and her head felt heavy, in fact it was throbbing with pain. Her blurry gaze travelled to the clock on the wall and she was surprised once she realized that it was time to go to school.

“Taeyeon! Wait for me!” Jessica pushed herself up with all her might and ran out of the house to see Taeyeon was already sitting in the car. She approached the latter and tried to stop her. “Taeyeon, open the door. Please!”

Taeyeon rolled her eyes in annoyance and lowered the window, “What do you want, sleepyhead?”

“Wait for me. Please. I won’t take long, I promise.” Jessica pleaded desperately.

Taeyeon sighed, “Just take a bus. I have no time to wait for you.” She said and drove off.

Jessica froze at the entrance as she watched the car disappeared from her sight.

“No. Not now.” Jessica closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down from the tears that were threatening to escape.
